Thank you! It's a really great reminder for me to put in some effort into doing something as opposed to just consuming media. After graduating university I took 5 month gap before actually landing my first full-time job. During that period was lots of learning which really felt meaningful before starting to travel and working lots of part-time job, which while really great and enjoyable, did mess up my life's rhytm and routine and i somehow never got back on track. Once i started full-time, i did allow myself to do whatever i feel like doing just to let myself transition easier into a life much different from my past one, however, once i hit the second month, while i did do some things here and there, life just kind of felt, too boring? Work definetely isn't easy, but what bugs me the most is my off-time, i mostly use it to be on the phone, mainly consuming media, and it really eats on me. It's like life just kind of goes into an autopilot mode and it feels as if there's nothing worthwhile to do anymore, maybe consuming too much media made everything that is slightly harder to do feel much less interesting and unrewarding due to the excessive dopamine hit. I'm trying to get back on track now and this video is certainly one of the kickstarts I'm getting, so thank you so much for the video!

yeah it's like that for me too... I try to at least control what I watch. It helps so much to think for a second " should I watch this" " do ı care about this". and I actully think about taking action this time like if I enjoyed watching one camping video I want to live that experience for myself too...

Hi! I'm from Brazil and I was used to watch videos for thousands of hours, but now I watch it just sometimes, and priorizing videos that can help me or motivate me, like this one. The problem is that recently I perceived that I'm using the fact that I watch "helpful" videos as a excuse to enter on youtube, but what I already did to change this situation is helping me a lot. You maybe could do a video about that in the future, keep doing those amazing videos, because they're arriving in other countries! :)

Love seeing you pause to try to remember what you said, feels natural. Also suprised how it looks pretty chilly and you are wearing a half sleeve shirt lol just got the extention, pretty cool i must say. hope this changes the way i use KZbin. :) from today, im only going to intentionally use YT, hopefully max 10-20 mins. SO many things i wanna do, im interested in learning archery btw just curious, now a days how long do u usually spend in leisure time on devices?

Been watching this channel for a while now, and saw this, as someone who has experience in this niche sport I feel I must tell you that you should definitely get some sort of teacher or instructor instead of just buying a bow and target, there are a lot of things you can do to absolutely mess yourself up in archery and having a teacher will help with that.

it was so hard for me to quıt watching youtube shorts for example I don't watch them any more just because I have and app on my phone to block those and even an extension thing for my computer.... now I'm back on watching hours of videos and if you ask me each of them looks so interesting and fun to me. I make myself believe that they are good for me sometimes even... It's like being in a battle for my own time and I hate it!!!

It's a good idea to get these extensions to minimize distractions on KZbin (because there are A LOT of them. The main reason they make money is through watch time so getting you hooked means more money...) however I think they won't help EVERYBODY in everyone's situation. These extensions don't work on mobile or TV for start. They're easy to disable. I think what it comes down to is your mindset and some amount of discipline. Something I should try to start practicing more of is mindfulness (we had a health teacher in high school who taught mindful meditation, but I think this is probably more applicable to everyday things). I think to break the habit of watching KZbin for hours on end and scrolling and whatever is to just check in with yourself and think, "what have I gained from this? What knowledge? Was this a good use of my time?" Idk, I'm just spitballing here but I think I should try to do this more often or get into the habit of breaking this bad KZbin/social media addiction habit.

I agree. I only let myself use youtube on my computer because that's the only time I would use it to actually get something from it. Then these extensions helped me only focus on watching videos more meaningfully

Thank you. This is the philosophy of instead of finding a purpose you create your own meaningful purpose that you are proud of I am going to try apply that in 2025 I want to learn to just be calm to not be so extremely anxious be comfortable in just being on my on my own I feel like am seeking out validation unintentionally too much and it's definitely not a mindset I want There was a time where I would go outside in the summertime ride my skateboard go to a shop sit on the wall and just be there for the craic' I don't skateboard anymore nor do I go outside enough I do believe 2025 will be good, If anyone has any tips for insights please share, Cheers good night.

i understand the purpose of these extensions; i do have them, and they're extremely helpful, u can still find videos that i can search up on the whim. At the same time I don't wanna disable everything including the search option, how do you develop the mental discipline to stop yourself from wasting time watching random videos

Over time it does get easier, but I always think to myself "will I care or remember about this video in a day? Or even an hour?" No. It's not worth watching it and I can do something else actually.

Yeah I used unhook for a year and a couple months now. Home page recommended has gone to trash. Nothing interesting there anymore. Usually I reenable it but if I click on a video, it's just that video, I've very rarely used the side bar recommended. However, there have been some youtube channels recommended on my home page that have changed me for the better (like yours lol). So it's not all black and white. It's an interesting experience to reenable the home page and to immediately get met with these types of vids tho.
