I've experimented with them and never got the monsters you see in the ad's. HOWEVER, I did average one beet per sq. foot, with a root weight of 1lb. This works out to over 21 tons per acre. Not bad I'm thinking. Storage is another matter.

Storage is the issue. I could just pile 'em on the ground, throw an insulating layer pf hay/leaves over top ... and that would get us to mid January ... but most of Jan, all of Feb are hard Hard HARD freeze here. Below zero. I'd like to be able to dole 'em out to the animals in those months ... but they'll be frozen and will rot on any random warm up day after freezing solid. Suggestions?

how do you store them? I'm in north florida. got the idea to grow beets after seeing a sheep farmer in the UK doing it.

That's a warm region to store them... They need to be in a root cellar or something.

I would give them 2-3 a day. But honestly they will only eat what they can
