The green polish you got probably has some aluminum oxide in it which is pretty common for some reason. What you have to do is buy it in powder form then put it in some wax yourself. Annoying but well worth it. You'll also wind up with so much this way that I don't think you'll ever run out of the stuff haha. Like you said in the video chromium oxide is generally about .5 microns in size so diamond .5 micron is usable but diamonds are a hard cut so in actuality you want to go smaller to match the edge of a chromium oxide polish . Also this video on a straight razor guy messing with different stropping materials is interesting.

You need to be a part of our Sharpeners Jam which will be on line May 1-6. One of the presentations will be all about polish... types of polishing abrasives, mechanics, speed, the composition of the polish and the dangers.... This is just one of nearly 2 dozen presentations we will have. Check it out at bonika.com/products/sharpeners-jam-atlanta

Wow, Amazing what a bit of confidence can do. Thanks to your videos and solid instruction I have gone from zero to having 5 appointments lined up in the next two days, and my dance card is not filled I really need to start with selling shears. Am getting inquiries every place I stop. I just sharpened cobalt shears. LOL, after what you said I made sure I did not drop it or certainty did not try to bend it. Thanks for the help I look forward to attending training in the future.

If you want to sell shears, most people start with the portfolio www.bonika.com/bonika-professional-starter-shear-sales-kit/. If you are interested in selling Jaguar, there is a special right now on the Rep kit that would retail for $1932 and is $500 for a sharpener. It has 8 of the top selling Jaguar in a nice display case. www.bonika.com/jaguar-rep-kit/

This is the best video you've done. Very personal too, like you're talking individually to the viewer. Look into cBN emulsion (liquid comes in various grits) for leather wheels. Brownell's and Wheeler Engineering make screwdriver bits that EXACTLY fill screw slots. These are used by gunsmiths and medical instrument sharpeners/mechanics to work on screws they don't want to destroy (like screw heads that are engraved). These can be purchased individually or in sets from Brownell's or Midway.

I sharpen tons of Jaguar shears. they are so far to me, the best made shear. I get some that are over 20 years old, i can tell by the model, that have been worked to near death but still do the job ! I would love to be a certified Jaguar Sharpener for my area, that would be cool. I hear they sold to another company?

Thank you a lot for sharing. I am only hobbyist on sharpening, but I try upgrade my knowledge slowly. I usely sharpen knifes but sometimes there comes somebody with shears or scissors. I have got them in "good" shape, so that owner has been satisfied. I don´t do this on professional. I am a retired magazine printer and I have sharpend my own fishing knives from age of 6. Thats why I try sharpen other things also and I try challenge my skills everytime when I am with my work bench. Have you looked how the knife sharpers load they leather strops? Buy a bottle of baby oil and put few drops of oil to those leather disk and that will melt up the stropping compound while you are rubbing it in. I think that you may get good result with this trick. Thank you again and please keep sharing. You have at least one watcher in Finland. Best Regards, Markku
