YES! You are so right! It feels self-conscious to catch yourself speaking, to hear yourself being lazy with certain vowels, or making errors, but afterwards you look back and you can see how far you've come!! I feel completely the same way.

Great channel! We are trying OPOL with English and Irish. I live in Ireland and I am a non-native speaker (high B1/low B2 level). Our daughter is 8 months old. I've been speaking Irish since day one. I focus my learning on sentences that I can use in our daily routine.

As nonnative speakers, at least for a lot of us, our kids' abilities will likely one day surpass our own. But by the time that happens, we will have given them a great head start. Focusing on routines will give you a great return your on investment, especially if you can integrate reading into those routines.
