I stayed at the Republica in 2022. Your review summarises my experience to perfection. I wouldn’t go back because I’m not a party person, despite the fact that there are a couple of quiet corners where to relax. To me, the best things were the jerk chicken by one of the pools and the price! My one week stay was ridiculously cheap.

Do I have to take the bus obligated or can I drive to the Riu pool party my self?

When it comes to the drinks, I haven't been to this Riu but I have been to another Riu all inclusive. They had better option drinks if you asked for it. Like I asked if they had any better whiskeys and the guy went under the counter and pulled out Jack Daniel's rather than the cheap house brand. Not sure if this happens at all their resorts but it's worth asking.

You have to try the Hyatt Cap Cana, I just got back from there and it's the best resort I've ever been to.

@@gorgeousgeorge8007 The activity staff by the pool was very engaging and friendly. Lots of activities all day but it’s overall a very chill resort, no parties. No nightclub or anything on site.

Careful what you get at the bars. The bar tenders use cheep low grade bottom rail booze in their drinks (basically Ever Clear).God only knows whats in those bottles. Beach area is small and overloaded with chairs. No shade accept the palms on the sand dune that separates the pools from the beach. Service is okay but pushy on tips. Rooms are okay but NOT luxury by any standard. We would not stay here again. If you’re a college kid and want to blow some money and don’t care what you eat or drink. And at that point you’re more a animal than a person anyways. Go ahead and book here. If you have someone with class and taste. STAY AWAY! Update. Been here a few days, and have sampled the restaurants. The best has been the buffet but as soon as the weekenders showed up the quality went to hell. Under cooked and over cooked food everywhere. At dinner it looks like a hog troff. If you get there early it’s okay but DO NOT eat the sea food. They can’t keep the bars cold enough. Wife got sick on our third day, and I got sick on our fourth day, we couldn’t not keep anything down. I wasn’t expecting the French laundry, it’s basically a sketchy Golden Corral in the Ghetto side of town.
