Great stuff Steve, i like that you always have a succession of vegetables to see you through the winter months.

Hi Terry, yeah we only eat veg that we grow, so that focuses the mind! I've just done a tour video for next week, that shows how it's all going : All the best - Steve

I really liked this video. Nice to watch the journal of what you sow month by month. Great to get input on the variety name. I have to watch this video several times to get everything. Everything has grown fine for me so far this year, except sweet corn. I had re sow corn yesterday, and I hope for germination this time. I agree that nz-spinach is fantastic in the summer, even though my is not as powerful as the one you had last year. Thanks for sharing this. Happy sowing in may, Steve. Best wishes from Benni in Norway.

We did have one NZ bed that didn't thrive last year. We tend to plant three beds, and keep the two that perform best. They say that it doesn't like too much food in the soil, but it seems to like a bit of seaweed. All of the variety names are available in the blog post that's linked in the discription, so take a look at that Benni : All the best - Steve

All looks fab. Your garden is brilliant. I'm quite pleased my new grapevine is still alive! Yay! We are quite lucky here in that we've escaped the frosts that many have lost crops to. I gave all my crops a good feed today (it stinks, it smells like yeasty Bovril?) but I've figured the smellier it is the more the plants love it. Talking of which, I must bottle up the comfrey tea and nettle tea I've got brewing in the polytunnel...now that smells unholy 😂

Thanks for the feedback Bev, I admire you for having the patience to make your own fertiliser, I'm afraid I buy mine in, have to manage my energy : All the best - Steve

I know what you mean, I too have to pace and watch how much I do but it's really easy. Get a bucket, fill with comfrey leaves, fill with water and put a lid on. That's it. Takes a few weeks and then it's ready to be strained and bottled. There are those who use air pumps and add molasses and all that malarkey but I don't. I make nettle tea too in the same way. Add 10% to a 10ltr can to water with. The only thing I worry about health wise, apart from using too much energy and paying for it for ages, is having a seizure on the plot. I shouldn't worry as it's something I have to get used to but So far so good as my meds are working (fingers crossed!) so I can't go there alone unfortunately and I'm not allowed to drive at the moment (I have to be 12 months seizure free) so I'm reliant on my husband to drive me and we do the plots together anyway. I know how you feel in that respect though and it's annoying sometimes as it'd be nice to just go all out on the plot wouldn't it. I did try to do that a couple of years ago, was laid up for 12 months! 🙄 won't be doing that again lol. I'm waffling again 😂 take care chuck x

It sounds like you've learned to live within your limitations well, I nearly collapsed on the plot last year, luckily someone saw me and all was well : All the best - Steve

Steve's Seaside Allotment 😮 glad someone was there! I managed to do a few hours alone on my plot last week but my husband was too worried the whole time. Don't think I will do that for a while as it stressed him out. No I usually overdo it quite a lot but I'm learning to push very gently to up my stamina but it's taken years to be able to do it. It could all stop tomorrow if I flare up so I enjoy every minute. Just do what you're comfortable with. You know when you've had enough as your body soon lets you know doesn't it 😂 bottled up my comfrey tea an dnettle tea today...the smell! 🤢🤢 Grapevine is still alive 👍

Love the software set up. One of my problems is following when and where to plant stuff. Since the new plot with polytunnel I’m getting lots of ideas from this video

Excellent Ray, it's always lovely to hear that a video has actually been of some use. I try not to over-plan where things will go as I find that it's often better to respond on the fly to what's growing well/badly etc, but having a rough idea makes sense! : All the best - Steve

Great update Steve! For anyone reading my comment I can highly recommend using Steve's AirTable Database as a planning tool. Adjust it, modify it, add your own veg etc etc - brilliant. I am running it alongside my spreadsheets and it is so much quicker. Steve 2

Golden beetroot is the bane of my existence, LOL I am an all pot gardener and as hard as I try I cannot get a good sized root from the golden variety, fortunately the leaves are delicious.

They are, we love the leaves too, they do seem to need a bit more space to grow good sized roots : All the best - Steve
