Bart, you know las vegas metro police department has a volunteer search and rescue team you can join, especially since you're a veteran.

I completely empathise with Bart, in that I felt I did not get the most out of my time in the service as my mind had checked out early, and I wasn't as fully engaged as I should be. Looking back now that I have left, I really wish I can do some of those cool shit I get to do back then, but no longer can in civvy life. To all those starting out their military career: Embrace the suck, and don't fight it. The more you go along with it, the smoother the ride will be.

Definitely a cool episode. I relate so hard to those imaginary timelines 😂 definitely need to work on being more present. Thanks for sharing!

I went through the exact same emotions. I wish I had taken more photos and was intentionally present. I miss being in the military but grateful for the experience I had. Wish I did more.

I completely understand how he feels. I have those same emotions and regrets but mine is from college... I was so focused on just finishing that I did not enjoy it. So now I tell all my cousins to not rush through it and just enjoy it. I tell them that if I had to redo my experience I would go to community college first and save a ton of money in the process bc at the end most companies if not all don't even care if you went to community college staright out of high school instead of a 4 year. All they care is the univeristy degree at the end. Also, I would really think about my major and talk to people that graduated from that major and get pros and cons. I would also study abroad. And most importantly, I would've been present instead of living in the future instead of just waking up going to class, going to work, studying and doing the same thing everyday like a robot bc of that feeling of having to graduate in 4 years. Exactly like what he says, ai would've thrown away that timeline. We are only young once so I would've enjoyed my youth more and gotten the most out of it.

I missed this episode when it came out but now that I’ve been considering the US Navy Reserves and doing the research, this has been popping up. Not many of my friends(?) have been very supportive of this decision. I’ve embraced a lot of suck in my life but none that would directly grow me into the person I want to be. Just rough beginnings kind of stuff that I’ve not really had a choice but to submit to. I didn’t apply to be born to a single mother or in a low income family where we moved around a lot, but nonetheless I found ways to enjoy. I’ve had friends say they are scared of me, and average height, slightly overweight , just because I, before I even seriously considered the Armed Forces, started running 3 times a week. My mom is supportive though, nothing like real family to have your back, as heart breaking as it is when you know your parents will likely leave before you and you have to make the decision to either become better or stay with a group of friends that don’t really have your back or offer solutions, support, or alternatives. I love them still, even the ones I don’t talk to anymore. I’m grateful that Bart has been so honest and willing to share his experience with the Marines. I have a pretty cool recruiter who has been helping me and I hope that I get in. If I’m ever in the L.A. area Barbell Brigade is the first place I’m tryna go. Mad respect and appreciation you both ! To anyone considering any of the branches, I am proud of you and wish you all the best !!

Hey Bart and Geo, love the military story! Also have you heard of the Sound of Freedom movie with Jim Caviezel? I thought of you Geo because of your personal experience. You had mentioned your parents over protecting from something similar. I thought you guys might find the film interesting. May God bless your family!😁♥

Ive been watching Mr. and Mrs. Kwan for close to a decade now and seeing them share their stories and lives so openly is so inspirational for me! Watching them do it makes me want to be open and honest when i'm creating my own content. THANK YOU for being you!!! ❤ Ive never had an inkling of doing military work but hearing Bart's stories makes it seem so badass and such an amazing experience that if I didn't already have a rough draft of my life planned out, I would definitely be interested in doing basic training or something along those lines. 😞 Also since you don't post on other platforms beside KZbin and Instragram, I only realized today that you also have a Twitter AND a Facebook page. *Follow* 😉😏 PS: My Mcdonald's order is always changing from each time I go because I just like me i'm always adapting and changing it up. 🤣

Those who label Bart as a boot are overlooking the main purpose of this podcast. He's simply sharing his regrets and reflecting on what he could have done differently. Bart isn't pretending to be someone he's not, nor is he lying about his experiences while in service. Personally, having served active and completing a year in the guard, I can see where Bart's opinions are coming from. I grew tired of field rotations, regardless of how exciting they were since we did them so much. However, I can understand why reservists, who only have 1-2 field rotation per year, might find them more exciting.

As someone who has served in a recon unit it annoys me to hear Bart sound like such a boot. Then I remember he was a reservist who wanted to go to jump school 😂. Bart crying about fire guard. Imagine being in Afghanistan with bart crying like an entitled kid. Marine reserves wow!

There are two types of people. One who's military experience is one of the beginning chapters of their life. Usually, they use it as a catapult for the rest of their successes. Another one, their military experience is the highlight of their life. Someone who's bitter and thinks anyone that didn't do what they did is "lower than". Don't be the latter. We need to shine more positive light on the veteran community.
