Yooo Happy Monday!!! Today We are spending the day in Amsterdam from working to eating. Here's what I spend in a day adventuring in Amsterdam. Is it expensive where you guys live? Let me know!

So funny to see this. I was born and raised in the north of Amsterdam. You dont wanna know how many times I've been on that ferry 😅. To me it was a real cultureshock learning that Americans drink and eat every meal outdoors. We Dutch people usually eat coffee and breakfast at home, then take food with us for the afternoon that we made...at home. And then eat evening dinner...at home. Ya'll Americans are spending way too much money eating outdoors 😅

@@leob4403 no, but in The Netherlands it's not common to eat out for every meal. We do go out, on occasion. And I believe newer generations are more and more changing to eating out every meal, every day. But it's not a common thing ...yet

After i realized i spend €5 or more for lunch each (work)day, i made different choices. Just buy a half bread and some topping and eat that for the week. Could cut my lunch expenses to just €5 per week. That €20 i saved i can spend on something else.

Going out for food.....what a waste! 🤣 And those yuppy fruit drinks 🤣....a lot of money for something that isn't even healthy. 🤣 Eat your breakfast at home, make your lunch at home, eat dinner at home.....and make SURE to avoid these socalled 'city-supermarkets', the 'to go' stores and train station stores, these are all overpriced af! The whole center of Amsterdam has tourist prices anyway, you pay waaaaaaay too much, only idiots (and tourists...lots of times the same) pay these idiot prices. 🤣🤣🤣 I have had co-workers who were very much in debt coming in every day with a realy large Starbucks 'coffee'.....which isn't coffee to begin with. And coffee at work is free to drink the whole day. Noooo, every day overpriced Starbucks you can't actually afford. I can afford it all but I'm not stupid. 🤣

You know what, I initially thought you were just naive, but your optimism is appreciated haha. That said our climates are pretty much the identical I think. The real question though, is it better to get around DC or in the Netherlands? Public transport options, pedestrian focused areas, that sort of thing. I've heard good things about DC.

@@ItzSKYVlogs My kids learned to make independent unsupervised public transport travels up to 3 or 4 hours in their early teenages and respect the rules of the different sorts of zones you're in on the trains and stuff... They traveled on their own from the North to the South to their grandparents when they were 13 or 14 years old or so. Learning to read and participate to the train and bus schedules and so on without me or their mother worrying them getting there safely.

I do relate wanting to go around and see the outside world when you are working/living in a city/town that simply invites you to, no matter the weather. So I can perfectly see myself doing what you did in your video on a particular day of the week, but every other day of that week I would be using premade lunches/snacks/drinks to cut on costs and just grab the free coffee from work instead :) So for me personally this is not relatable as a 'typical day' ;-) But with weather like that, Amsterdam city life just sucks you in like a magnet 🙂

Man, I got hungry! Found the rice box, but... no... no chicken in the fridge, no salmon... I think I'm gonna get some spaghetti 😄With plenty of sauce! 😂 As for the prices, it goes like the joke: "How much gas consumes your car?", asks a guy. "All the gas I put in the tank", replies his friend. 😄 Joke aside, here in Sofia, Bulgaria, where I'm now, it's cheaper. For example, snacks and water from a store would be somewhere around 1 to 1.50 EUR, all kind of city transport (metro, tram, bus, trolleybus) is 0.80 EUR per ride (with a transport card it could go down to 0.50 EUR for the day regardless of how many rides you take). As for the lunch - it depends. I don't know if here are these rice balls, but for a lunch you can go from 2 - 2.50 EUR if you go for some pastry or a pizza slice up to 8 - 10 EUR for something more decent (of course you can eat for much more but in a lunch break you don't usually have enough time for a restaurant). And a cappuccino would be ~1.80 - 2.50 EUR. So the prices are lower here but the wages are also much lower, so the things get even. In the same time, in Vienna, Austria, I think it's about the same in terms of prices. Man! I havent returned there for a year! Have to do that.

Oh man I love the rice balls too. Did you have 4 rice balls for € 11,40? They are not very expensive, right? They are pretty big. Those smoothies from the Albert Heijn are a waste of money. Yes they are tasty, but not quite healthy. A lack of vitamins and a lot of sugar. But hey, sometimes you can eat unhealthy food. Thanks for the cool video. 👍

@@ItzSKYVlogs they are healthy enough, they don;t add anything dodgy to them. it's just that they have a lot of natural sugars from the fruits, that makes them getting only a C on the health scale and not an A . if you made it at home with the same ingredients you would get exactly the same. If you are fine with that, keep consuming them.

I usually have a broodje kaas for lunch, and I´ll meal prep for weekday dinners in the weekend, Coffee? Good old disgusting machine coffee for 0.59 or free if a faculty member gives me their employee card (unlimited for them). I'd get an oatmeal cookie or a quick something at the uni cafeteria or SPAR for 2-4 euro. Trains back and forth would be 12, but I have a "traject vrij" plan that makes it 7 per day. If I don't have food at home, I'll get a kapsalon or durum for 5-9 . Doing your exercise assuming I pay normal prices for everything and i eat outside, it would be 25-ish. If I get food at a proper tabled place instead of the snackbar, it comes down to 35-39. Not too far off from yours!

@@ItzSKYVlogs You have the Intercity to Berlin (leaves from different platform) and the ICE (which our run with the iconic ICE high speed trains as in the video) that go to Frankfurt and once per day to Basel (for now, this will soon change to Munich) usually departing from platform two. You can even see in your video on the platform signs that it goes to Frankfurt and not Berlin ;)

In my opinion, your eating life style looks unhealthy and therefore also expensive. I make my own sandwiches for breakfast and luch at the same time. Timesaver because waiting in line takes more time than making the sandwiches. Sandwiches have more fibers which are pretty important.

Yeah youre delusional. Most bread in the Netherlands isnt as healthy as they used to be, most people it a sandwich with cheese/processed meat and butter and thats not healthy either.
