' drawing is a meditation, not a production' that's great Danny!

Oh, this resonates so strongly. "The world doesn't need more pictures....it needs more people who can accept reality." Absolutely nothing woo-woo there, Danny. I shall be forever grateful to have found you....or maybe that was you who found me!!💗🙏🤗

Thanks Danny. Since finding you, I've been drawing daily, yes they are getting better, but what I enjoy most, is the timeless time looking, seeing whatever is in front of me and letting the ink flow. Seeing what is, not a preconceived idea. To be present , what a treat!

I'm so glad to hear you speak about the "drawing mind." I'm finding myself in that state more and more often in places where I can't for some reason actually put anything down on paper. I'm analyzing shapes and shadows and colors and their relationships, and I feel so much more present in my environment but separate from all the crap going on in the world right now. I feel like it's my superpower. And it's a whole lot cheaper than therapy ;-)

You are right, I suffer from depression and still suffer, drawing has become a therapy for me, I have created a life for myself and made drawing my life by getting away from people.❤️🌸

I just love to binge what you say. It's like the philosophies of saints on paper. True us via art.

It’s a good question. When drawing from direct observation, you’re right, it silences that constant chatter in our minds. The time flies by, like when you have a timer on and before you know it, you’re bummed when the buzzer goes off.

Great video. Now, I can practice and learn to draw without worrying about wasting supplies. I think you said in Some other video that the only wasted supplies are unused supplies. ☘️🌝🌲

Honestly, when I was young, I used to watch cartoons for children and there were drawing sections that I loved, but I did not practice drawing. My sister discovered my talent for drawing and supported me. Because of his support, I trusted my talent, but there were others who mocked my talent, but I didn't care about them. I have practiced my talent now for 13 years, and now I am 26 years old.

That's my happy place, being in the zone... Sometimes I listen to my favorite music while creating, it helps my mind clear.👍

I've rewatched this video 3 or 4 times in a row, just to let it sink in. I'm struggling a lot with overthinking, afraid to make something not good enough, something not worthy of showing people, even though i know it's not important. I've been a happy observer of everyday life beauty, but somehow it's hard for me to bring it to my work the words that you find just rest so well in my head i feel so light and ready to create :)

Beautifully said! To me those who are able to draw contentedly always have a path to joy and a way to savor their life deeply. I will say though, that I also like using a practical, non-judgmental monologue in my head that goes something like this "long angle, short horizontal, this is bigger than that, this is a moon-like curve,..." It's this descriptive monologue that helps me slip into savoring the present moment. As you said, not so much for making a good-looking drawing (that can be the side effect) but to savor being. Thanks for the video!!!

I go to that place just about every day...upstairs in my art room I have access to all kinds of media - when I'm downstairs I ALWAYS have a mixed media pad and gel pens to just draw and doodle ( even while watching tv)...ive learned to just enjoy the process and be in the moment! Saved me during covid when everything shut down and we were housebound!! Creating is very therapeutic to say the least...

It's why I love human figure drawing in studio, because I am studying only what is there; being present, immersed, nothing else exists.

I always liked art and creating things and always thought I was very bad at it until 13 weeks ago I stumbled upon your channel and started a sketchbook. My plan was to draw or paint something everyday, but I didn't, which is fine. Since, I have also followed Koosje who has completely changed my perception towards art. Art is creating, drawing, painting and having fun with no complex. I am no longer overthinking what I am doing and I enjoy it very much so. I have since then, tried many media I have had around for yonks and never used, texters, pastels, watercolours, colour pencils and recently, gouache. I am having so much fun. I have had some fails, but always learnt a valuable lesson. One of them is, don't force yourself if you don't feel like drawing or painting something, it will feel like a chore and it won't be very nice. I have made up stuff and copied masters - my favourite is fauvism using texters - and I have had lots of fun! So, that is my way to keeping sane during our Sydney lockdown, 13 weeks now and my first sketchbook is almost finished. So a very BIG thank you.

I always noticed even at a young age that when I was drawing I could never answer a question that someone asked me or keep up a conversation...I intuited I was in a different awareness somehow. Greetings from Italy.

I agree the point of drawing is the experience of drawing, the peace. As a beginner, I won't let anyone look at my sketchbook, it is not for anyone but me (right now). The iris in 2:27 is unusual, instead of strings of color, it looks like globs of melted cheese.

I’m the same way, and don’t have a subject either, I start a line and then it looks like something and go with it lol…which brings up a question for me. Art critics, why do they always say, oh… the artists was thinking this or that or had this emotion or that one? I agree with you the act of drawing or painting fills me up.
