Exactly what I thought! I love seing life in Japan from Emma’s point of view. Being quirky, fun, so do as much or as little as you wish. It’s only up to you how much you want to share and that’s ok!! I think it’s important to support our creators journeys and understand they’re not products. Love your content and hope to see some more soon 😊

Here's a thought - it's perfectly ok for Tokidoki Traveller to be a bit of a character you play on KZbin, and viewers really ought to understand that. Off-camera Emma is free to share her personal life or not as she sees fit. Chris Broad has been very open about this lately, admitting he does act somewhat differently on camera - it's perfectly natural to be so - and that he kept some very substantial aspects of his life private. It's all good; we get it.
@stephen129
@stephen129 Жыл бұрын
It's amazing how many people don't get this. Most KZbinrs have a persona on KZbin. It's still them, but they don't act like that 24/7, it would almost always take up too much energy. It's very rare for people to be exactly the same on KZbin and in real life all the time. Humans are complex. They have different sides. This is ok.
@NimrodClover
@NimrodClover Жыл бұрын
Yes, the on-camera and off-camera way a person carries themselves can often be very different. If you watch enough collaborations or group videos you can often see those KZbin personalities "in the background" not acting at all like they do on their own channels. Chris has mentioned before that he is more snarky and "one of the boys" when off camera.

As a dad with 2 young daughters (12 and 14) I think it's important for them to hear that it's not just them struggling with their body image (no matter how many times you tell them their beautiful). Modern media is so destructive for young kids and adults :(

Glad you’re here saying hello! I also went through a “food journey”. It was after a really bad relationship and I recently, 5 years later (about two days ago), looked at some old photos and was like… wow. That girl was very unhealthy. As you change, your perspective will change too. Sending you love. 🖤

Hey Emma, I’m sorry you’re going through such a tough time about your body. But always remember that YOU ARE NOT ALONE with this experience and there’ll always be something to criticize about ourselves no matter how hard we try to “fix” it. I feel like the pandemic has made a lot of people feel insecure and critical about themselves, given how people were told to stay at home and not go out. And with all that time being at home, we became self-critical about ourselves. Then at the end of the day, we’d come back to those silly intrusive thoughts in our heads. But I believe you’ll grow from this experience and learn to accept your beautiful, sexy, smart, quirky, and funny self in the near future. Don’t feel pressured into sharing everything with us. Put your mental health first above anything else. Thank you for all your hard work and keep getting stronger. We all look forward to seeing you looking back and smiling at how far you’ve come. Stay strong and keep going. We’re all wishing you support, happiness, security and success. 😁🫡🙏👍👌💪

Glad to hear you're doing well and doing what you need for your own health and well-being. On my last trip to Tokyo, my friend showed me a plus-sized store called Punyus in the Shibuya 109 building! The clothes are sized in a similar fashion to Torrid and go up to a "4". I can barely fit into a 6L or 7L in Japan, but I was able to fit into a lot of size 4 stuff at Punyus. Definitely recommend!

It was only when I was in my 30's and reflecting back on my life I realised I had massive eating disorders. Thank you for discussing these things, because its something we as a society should be ok with openly discussing!

Then this summer I had issues with eating due to some meds I had been prescribed to help with GERD. I was was hardly eating because anything I ate hurt me which caused me to become malnourished. Trying to wrap my head around no longer being a size 22, 20, 18 etc it's weird. We follow and watch you for you. We don't care what size you are. I'm a UK size 22 and the 3 years I spent in Japan were a challenge clothing wise. I can also recommend Punyus, I shopped a lot from Uniqlo online as the do extended sizes there that they don't have in store. A fav of mine was a brand called noannu I think? I used to get it in the Aeon at Shinagawa seaside they had some cute jumpsuits/overalls and often some cute branded stuff in bigger sizes I have some super cute cinnamoroll dress that's still going strong 5 years later! Also Suzutan in the Nakano sun mall if it's still there. Super hakka feuille goes to larger sizes and they have them in Isetan but it's super expensive but so very lovely. Sending love as I have some experience with this type of thing, surround yourself with good people and be kind to yourself x

I watch your streams a lot and have watched every tokidoki and Tokyo creative video as well. Body image is a touchy subject for almost everyone, and I understand being in a place that doesn't cater for a normal sized human wouldn't help. I mean honestly they don't make any size normal over there. From personal experience I bought shoes online that were the absolute largest size possible, when I got them turns out my feet are just too wide to fit them. Japanese or Asian body sizes in general are so different from most westerners I understand it can be disheartening. But I hope you don't let it effect you too much Emma. You're a great person and have a great day!

Hola Emma! Consider a "body journey" perspective related with exercise. I truly believe that working out can balance your mind and body, act as an anchor habit when life is getting chaotic, help with what and how you eat, and of course helps with your sleep. Dance as an example, is fun, a great workout and helps you connect with your body in a very deep way. When you give your body an activity, you are giving it a function and now you can evaluate your body thru a performance perspective which is more related with health than looks. Health is the ultimate goal. A cyber hug from South America!

Also I'm in Japan right now so these plus size recommendations are perfect! One that I found online that I haven't seen here is Sakazen (was og men's clothing but supposedly now has women's). The other ones I've noted are of course Punyus, Nissen and I saw that GU has extended sizes, but maybe only online for above an XL. Also going to check out Sou sou based on another comment. Lastly I always look at the men's clothes too! Especially if I want a bit of an oversized look. Best of luck with your food/clothes journey

I just finished reading I'm Glad my Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy and it brought up a bunch of feelings about food. I cried over eating pretzels yesterday but didn't relapse thankfully. Thanks for sharing anything you feel like sharing. I really enjoy your editing and sense of humor.

Honestly - I'm still thinking about that "Full English Breakfast" shot at the beginning...The Brit's do know how to do a hearty breakfast. Couple times, a while ago now, we had Japanese High School age girls stay with us for a few weeks. One was at the taller end of the (Australian) scale and she was Over-Overjoyed that here she could easily find the clothes (especially shoes) that she wanted to wear, as opposed to 'what she could find that would fit' at home, in Hiroshima. Love the 'Orange Guy', and your work.

Emma! Welcome back. I haven't seen your video for a long while and was a bit panicky. I hoped you were alright. Thank goodness you are well. Appreciate all your work. Stay well.

Adore being the person we needed by saying things even when they’re hard. It’s never easy but I know someone is helped by it. Also love respecting your own boundaries in certain areas of your life even when you exist in a visible space in others. All the best to you!

Aww, you are lovely, Emma. I adore your videos, I love your mix of fun & truth - you are the real deal. (I was in Japan 4 yrs ago but didn’t know about you then otherwise would have said hello! 😉) keep on doing whatever you love, we are here for it! X

3:39 It doesn't help that Japan makes a HUGE deal about stuff like that. But I have always found you attractive. I never thought of you as "plus sized", just curvy in all the right places. And you have definitely provided inspiration during some of those "lonely" nights.

I totally understand and it's cool. I'm sure my friends and family find it odd that I don't take a selfie every day or constantly putting myself and what I do online. But like it's not important at all and honestly exhausting to keep it up. Enjoy yourself. I'm happy for you. I love you, Emma.

Glad to see you back and happy! You might want to give Gold Japan a try for clothes. I've had decent luck with them. Not sure if they're oshare enough, though.

As an Englishman, I'll never get used to hearing the phrase "I love England" (though that Full English you showed made me almost agree with you ;p) But you really don't have to share your business with us subscribers Emma. There's more than Emma around of Tokyo Creative and elsewhere, please don't get stressed! :3 ()

Hello! Good to see you popping a video up again ^*^ I'm really glad you're having adventures etc and keeping them private - living in the moment is so important! SO glad to hear that you're getting help too, thank you for sharing a little because i think most people have been in a similar position (I know I have) Also glad you liked England even though it is super expensive lol I forget that you aren't British sometimes!
