oh boy you are in for a treat with Berserk, not just the insanely detailed Gustave Dore-esque art that he achieves as the story progresses, but the equally interesting and epic story which has much more depth than one might initially expect especially with the first several volumes

It is not what I expected at all! I love the blend of the supernatural with the castles and war aesthetic. I’m definitely going to take my time though, these volumes are pricey. Might have to go online, but I love holding them in my hands.

Just finished Agua Viva, I liked it but I think An Apprenticeship is much better. Hoping to get to Near to the Wild Heart soon

Yeah there is some good writing in Agua Viva but the formlessness makes me less excited to finish it.

Nice! I've recently got into Clarice Lispector as well. I definitely recommend The Passion According to GH if you haven't given it a go already.

I’ve got it on my shelf now! I kind of want to save it though, I’ll probably reread Near to the Wild Heart first. I don’t want to exhaust her stuff too quickly:

@@danielbackerauthor Absolutely. Her stuff reminds me a lot of Kafka's: concise and to the point but with an unmistakable honesty.
