Talking about the adjustments I made to my Kramer Baretta Special. Still can't believe what a great (cheap) guitar this is!

I just bought one of these about an hour ago and I was impressed with how well it was already set up😊

Amazing that it's staying in tune. Crazy for a vintage trem with no locking tuners. Love the look, love the playing I've seen/heard of it so far. Nice.

The stock bridge, locked down saddles and a Floyd (Schaller or Gotoh) locking nut works great. Its not a bad bridge at all.

Love how light the thing is! You could play catch with it!

With such an asymmetric headstock it is recommended to put the strings like a 3x3, so put the G B e reverse on to lessen the string break angle, costs also no money.

Mine didn't come like this. Had sharp fret ends and didn't stay in tune well. I replaced the nut, tuners, and bridge with fairly cheap parts. Great guitar now.

Great to see what a person with substantial understanding of instruments can get out of a guitar without investing big money in new trem, tremblock, handwound pickups, tuners etc. 👍👍👍

I just got my RED one. Price is unbelievable. $179 at Guitar Center. Great stuff.

I bought stainless steel roller saddles which are machined, fit much tighter so no wiggle, removed the saddle springs and added M3 .70 nuts to lock the saddles. Aldo replaced the 6 standard trem screws snd replaced with 4 oval head countersunk screws which help keep the trem flush with the body and allow better divebomb travel. Much better, doesn't really need a floyd bridge. But I ALWAYS replace the nut with a Floyd style locking nut. Stays in tune amazingly well. All mods combined about $50.

I just played one randomly at guitar center. I played a gretsch, a john petrucci, and this... It was looking at me, like play me. So I did, with no amp. I just thought, why does this feel so nice for a cheap guitar? Now I am binging on KZbin videos on this subject. I am a stickler for how a guitar feels in my hands. The neck and action are most important to me. This one fits the hands nicely.
@corneliuscrewe677 Жыл бұрын
I actually raised the action on mine just a tad. Not because it was buzzing or anything, it was just a lot lower than I prefer. That impressed the heck out of me.

I have a white one and I love it- didn't have to do anything but a simple tune. I don't use the whammy, so staying in-tune is never an issue.

The Baretta was my first real guitar back in the late 80s. Bought it used and it was beat up a bit but to me it was perfect👍👍👍👍

Question: With only the 2 strings remaining on the trem, does it still remains locked to the body in a way you can easyily go to drop D tuning without influencing the whole tuning? Just put in a new fender bridge so wondering if the 2 springs would work for this...thx
@BAND-MAID-USA2 жыл бұрын
Only thing you wanna make sure of after taking out the middle spring is, that the bridge is flat to body. I had to tighten the claw screws about a half a turn each after the spring came out. But ya, drop D is no issue at all. I have mine tuned half step down on all strings then, low E drppoed down to D. So the low E is dropped a half step lower than normal drop D. Just as Eddie did it. No issues at all. If the bridge is still flat to body after spring removal, you won’t need to do anything else than what he said in video. Although I used Nut Sauce on nut and saddles instead of graphite…

I sanded down the pickup ring to be flat it was wedge shaped.
@imelvino2 жыл бұрын
did you have to re-adjust the intonation after removing the spring?

the Baretta 1984, but is 470£, another 300£ more. I Have the Special too, paid 169£, and with these mods is enough, yes the bridge is fixed, only dives down, but is fine and stay tuned well.

totally agree but to play Metallica .....it miss something so I put an EMG 81X ivory ......and I sound like a 1K guitar and maybe more ! ;-)

With modern tooling, there shouldn't be any fret buzz. The difference between a cheap guitar and expensive shouldn't be one of playability. Those days are gone . We're not in the dark ages ( 1970s) Pickups ? It's as easy to wind a good pickup as a bad one. There is no excuse for poor guitar anymore. These $200 guitars are far more refined than a lot of the garbage Fender USA was producing in the 70s (certainly neck and body wise)
@ephbombmadeit Жыл бұрын
agreed. no matter if you get cheap or expensive, the playability is almost perfect. now you just pay more for either better materials, better sound, or just cuz its popular.
@bryanwilliams3665 Жыл бұрын
@@ephbombmadeit The world is a strange place . A $50,000 mechanical Rolex watch will keep WORSE time than a $10 Digital one. An expensive guitar may or may not be a better instrument than an inexpensive one.
@SoloSi20242 жыл бұрын
I'd get on much better with this than the version with the Floyd Rose. Those things confuse me!
