WHAT I'VE LEARNT IN THE 6 MONTHS OF HAVING A PUPPY: The benefits of having a dog you don't know!

This video is I go through six things that I have learnt in the six months I've had Millie. As my first dog (other than my childhood family dog), there is a lot I've learnt since bringing her home.
Some of you may already know us through our Instagram page @millieacockapoo however I have decided to start a KZbin channel to share my advice and experience of being a first time, single dog parent.
Millie is an F1 Cockapoo, her mother is a Cocker Spaniel and her father a Miniature Poodle.

My partner and I got an 8 week old cockapoo puppy a few weeks back. He is now 10 weeks and so stressful but your videos are helping to reassure us and look forward to him calming down, being able to take him for walks and enjoy actually having a dog - so thank you!

Congratulations on getting your cockapoo puppy! Thank you for your kind feedback, I promise it gets a lot easier once they can go for walks. The first few weeks are the hardest as your sleep deprived. I definitely had a couple of meltdowns during that time and I struggled to eat anything as I was so worried and stressed. But it gets better and you will enjoy having him! If there are any videos you would like to see from me in the future just let me know, and I will try and film them 😊

Hi again. Thanks for your reply. You are, clearly, like me and adore your Dog. For me they are "surrogate children" haha Even though you said "Single Dog Mums" I have Subscribed today as it is interesting listening to your journey with your lovely Puppy. Because of Covid, I am been far less busy than before but my first real test will be on Tuesday when after almost a year I resume walking a 3-year-old Female Cockerpoo and her 2-year-old Brother to add to the Dad (Yorkiepoo (7) and his daughter who was 2 last week to add to the 3-year-old Cockerpoo Mum and the Daughter she lives with and all 6 will be in my local park off the lead if circumstances are ok ( few other dogs in the area we stay in, for example ). The other dog I am looking after for 6 months with a view to having him permanently: Yorkie Male (5) is also here but I will almost certainly take him and the Dad together and then when I collect the other 2 around lunchtime return to my house to collect my 2-year-old and then the Mum and Sister who lived 100 yards away and a further 50 yards away is the entrance to my local park. Then the 5 of them will come back to rejoin the other 2 which will be lively until the other 4 leave at 6pm....:) Wish me luck.

@@MillieaCockapoo I’m actually really interested to know how you can manage having a puppy while being a single parent! What happens when you go to work? and how are you able to do that all alone! I’ve always wanted a dog but everyone is against it just because I’m still a student.. can you tell us how you do this alone? That would really help!

When I say I’m a single dog Mum, I mean it’s just Millie and I. I don’t have any human kids. At the moment I’m working from home, so it’s pretty easy, especially as we are in lockdown. Now that she’s over 6 months old she can be left up to 6 hours at a time. So when I do have to go to the office, she’s fine at home alone until about 2:30. Then either my Mum or a dog walker will pop in and let Millie go to the toilet and for a walk. My Mum takes her back to her house, until I get home at 5:30. Or she has two more hours on her own. She sleeps most of the day anyway when I’m at home, so it’s honestly not that much different for her. Once you’re in a routine you’ll fine having a dog on your own is okay. The hardest part is the first 6 months when they aren’t trained. I’ll do a video on it all, and maybe some day in the life vlogs.
