Rentals are rising too. If budgets are low, it is going to get harder to have a match.

Hey Marcus, in the exact shoes right now. You said each and everything that I have experienced in the past 6 days of apartment hunting. Talking to 15 agents simultaneously and also going door to door right now. Hope I land somewhere good soon.

It's certainly difficult right now, i'm sure you will find a place soon though!

Practical and real advice that every other travel poster seems to leave out. This is what's helpful, not the hype we constantly hear.

I by passed all that mess and had a local friend who took me to people who had off market apartments. Got the first one in one day below market month by month.

Most Da Nang videos say stay at a hotel a couple weeks, not a couple days. If you can't find an apartment, ask hotels for their monthly rate. Hotels are best chance of monthly rate & no deposit. In SEAsia tourist cities, it's very hard to rent by the month initially. Expecting to find a monthly, no deposit, no noise apartment, near the beach in only a few days is unrealistic.

I've been visiting Vietnam for 30+ years from New York and last time I stayed in 2022 I used 2 different Airbnbs. Wonderful stays. Was there for 3 months and had to do monthly visa runs out of the country to get back for another 30 days. What a pain in the ass. The Airbnb's are more money but there is a resolution system, you can see reviews on the property and owner, and money can be paid with US banking and US credit cards. In Vietnam now all the foreign banks are gone. The only way to get a bank account is to have working papers and the only money you can put in that bank account is your pay from the company that hires you. Renting "off the books" like that has lots of potential problems.

Appreciate your honesty and integrity. Let’s hope da Nang doesn’t get Californicated.

thanks for the info Marcus, it certainly isn't as cheap as others seem to make out (it is still cheap but not as cheap) - I have been searching (from Australia) for an apartment (not studio) for a 6 week period - it is a minefield of searching. We may end up staying longer than 6 weeks (we are in VN for 3 months) and originally had thought of just landing in Da Nang and doing what others have suggested. Glad I happened upon your advice. Look forward to watching more

Thank you for the message, it certainly is especially if you haven't landed. Hopefully you are arriving soon because it will probably only get harder! I'm sure you will have an amazing 3 months here, it is an incredible place

You can say that again! Frequently you see totally doctored pics advertised (specially on Facebook) then you come there and the super pent house is a dingy small room with next bldg 2 feet away..,

That was your apartment? If so, it is the nicest I have seen in over a year (assuming it is under $US500, of videos from folks. Where is it?

Thank you for the comment, my apartment is not shown in a tour. It's about $515 monthly in a small building with a few other apartments in the centre of An Thoung.

From your experience do they accept bank transfers for deposits and rent, or is cash required? Thank you.
@MarcusKelly1320 күн бұрын
It depends on the owner, if its a serviced apartment/hotel such as the one I'm living in then yes but if it's owned privately then they may not.
