I’m a lawyer going to switch to a SAHM, thanks for the video! I’m a little nervous for the transition but glad to hear you found your groove eventually

I was a single mom and worked in jobs that allowed me to be home for my daughter after school to make cookies and do homework. I wrote articles and books at night after she went to sleep and saw clients on weekends when she had play dates. I worked for myself for most of my life so that I had more flexibility to offer as a parent and my daughter often came along with me as my little helper. So, I was a mom and a dad and working/stay at home parent. She was my priority...she's now 25 and we still spend an amazing amount of time together. I love your video! Great job!

I really appreciate you being real about this subject I left me career after the pandemic and I have to say this is the most challenging experience I have ever experienced. I feel like I’m going to have a nervous breakdown. No one prepares us for the real life of being a SAHM

Sophia, that means so much!! I feel like it could be really challenging to fully understand how you may feel as a stay at home mom. So being authentic and having an open conversation is crucial. 💗

I resonate with you as a single mum. Im just learning to accept the way my life is atm. By the end of the day Im just exhausted to even watch a show I like or read a book... But ive accepted it and i love being a mum, seeing my daughter happy is the best feeling ever...

I am the same type of SAHM as you! I imagined that my experience as a SAHM would be hanging out with other moms and having play dates, it’s not the case! So much to do around the house + breast pumping or breastfeeding is a commitment so being out and about with kiddo makes it almost impossible.

I currently work and take care of my baby and wish I could be a stay at home mom but I need the money. Thank you for your honesty into the sahm life. I wish moms on KZbin or social media in general would stop posting these perfectly curated videos and posts as they set unrealistic expectations for others such as myself. That’s why for my mental well being I try to stay away from social media as much as possible

I'm thinking about this staying at home mom or going back to work, I have to work long hours and it breaks my heart to think about leaving my daughter at childcare for that long. Thanks for sharing your insight!

As a former childcare worker, in a baby room specifically, I took care of 4-8 babies at a time. Age ranges 3 months to 1 year. Let me tell you, those kids would be dropped off sometimes from 6 am to 5 or 6pm and during that time they attached to me. So much so sometimes that they didn't want to leave. One time I ran into a mom and her baby, 11 months, I was taking care of in Target and the child was screaming for me and reaching out for me. I cried when I got into my car because that child and I bonded for 8 months already. I knew her cries, what she would eat and wouldn't eat, her bathroom schedule, and I even saw her first steps. After experiencing that, I decided that I want that bond with my own child. Not everyone can swing it, I get that. I just didn't want another person doing the things that I want to do/be as a mother.

Thank you for sharing! I too just made the decision to leave my job. It took me some time to make that decision because I also really enjoy my career. I have a 9 month old and 2.5yr old, I know it will be challenging being at home but my children need their mom, and I want to be there with them so I know I have made the right decision, and feel so at peace with it.

I love this so much. I am a solo mom my husband works away from home and comes home once every month or two. I'm so grateful that you make content that I can relate to as I am a holistic health coach and it's so enjoyable to feel like a have a mom "friend" that geeks out on similar things that I do. You're amazing!

Wow this video was so timely for me. I've been a stay at home mom now for the second time with my 10 month old. Having the second baby kinda threw me for a loop. I thought I knew what it was going to be like but it absolutely has rocked my world as you said. I feel guilt for not taking them out as much but I've also feel guilty for not being able to keep my house tidy like I used to before kids. I am a very organized person so having to deal with the mess takes a huge toll on me. I love how you said you finally realized what kind of mom you were...because I have this nagging feeling like I'll never get this right. My home will be a mess we wont have nourishing food daily and my kids won't be able to get out as much as they need. I struggle with this so much and trying to figure out a routine. This is like a breath of fresh air Jessica I am so glad I found this video. Your so right about the isolation especially parenting in a pandemic. 😓💕💕💕🙏

I was a working mom with my first born and my mom was there to raise her and I was extremely young. I then transitioned to a stay at home with my 2nd and 3rd and boy it was a huge change for me. I had the career I always wanted and was a high level executive as well. I went through a lot of issues adjusting and it’s not easy to make friends at this stage because not everyone has kids this little and it’s hard because you don’t work or go to school to get to know people before you start to hang out with them. Things started getting better when my 2nd went to school as I made friends there but it’s usually short lived because you kinda get to know them on play dates and it’s basically for the purpose of your children. Looking back, I wouldn’t change anything but I wish I knew what was going on with me while I was adjusting and was able to tell myself or have someone else tell me what a huge emotional and physical adjustment it would be.

Oh Jessica I am right there with you. I made this transition about 8 years ago but now I run a full time wedding photography business. Bless you with all those little ones. I know I couldn't have done it. Being a stay at home mom is a full time job with NO benefits in regards to pension or 401K. But it is the most rewarding career I will ever have and I wouldn't trade it in for anything as i have seen my babies grow up. Great video just subscribed

This was my first time watching one of your videos. And I just loved it! I almost never comment on an videos ever. But as a stay at home mother for the last 6 months, I’m now going back to work on Monday and my daughter is sick from something she caught at her Montessori school and I’m really contemplating not going back and waiting another 6 to try again. But this video has helped me imagine how it may be possible to have a version of a life that if I decide to stay home that I can thrive at home a good chunk of the time if I work on it. I will definitely share this with friends and family that are preparing to have children.

Thank you so much for this video. I am currently considering if this is something we can do as a family. Have you gone back since this video?

This has been perfect for me to hear today. I have a two year old and and now 2 month old. I am currently working full time but don’t want my husbands mom to raise my children. I want to! I’ve been considering finding a new part time or just being a full time stay at home mom. It’s been hard because sometimes I just don’t know what I’m doing. I’m still learning and growing but it hasn’t been easy. My 2 year old is just so challenging, I love him immensely but running after a 2 year old with a 2 month old is difficult especially when your doing it by yourself. Like how do I go to the bathroom or take a shower or eat?
@JessicaJSpiers3 жыл бұрын
Hi NIkcollette, thanks for taking the time to watch and I absolutely know how you feel. It can be incredibly overwhelming and yes, such a rewarding experience. With age does come more flexibility, but each stage has their own challenges. I'm glad you were able to relate.

I’m a new stay-at-home mom to my six-month-old daughter. Before becoming a mother, I was a lead designer at a commercial architecture firm and then opened my own business which was very successful for three years and I worked until 39 weeks pregnant. After having my daughter I planned on going back to work (for myself from home) in about three to four months. It was extremely difficult and I completely underestimated what it took to be a “SAHM”. I felt guilty for spending time on my work vs. spending quality time with her. It took me 10x longer to complete a work task than it did previously. I don’t have help with her as I don’t trust my family who’s local to me and my husband also owns a business, so he has a very demanding schedule. We recently determined that it’s best if I just dedicate 100% of my time to my daughter and be all in sahm. It’s been difficult, as I really enjoy my work, but also I’m a mother and thought that would never happen due to infertility issues. I’m trying to find balance and create tasks each day. This video really helped seeing things from your perspective and how you’ve managed to transition. I love my daughter more than anyone in the world, so I’m excited to do this, but it’s just a different world that takes some adjusting to get used to. Thanks for the insight!

Jessica we are so alike, we have the same style of mommy. I like to get **ish* done around the house because I’m a neat freak** OCD & then sit down and watch my favorite series’s w/ a glass of wine or even coffee, but please!!! No interruptions!! “which never happens, something always gets in the way!!” Lol ..I rather walk my German Shepard and train him instead of being in a mommy group(with all respect to those who are, good for you ) I’m just the same way. Also, I was in the working industry, from working in the city, from working w/ Law enforcement & Board of education, to physiologist. Oh! & also Baking cakes as a hobby & making money 💰.Having two kids, including new born & breastfeeding, my husband having a stressful job as military as a shooting coach, I recently had to make the hardest decision like you and let me tell you!!! I have cried!!! But I know my kids will grow and it will pay off, that’s why I’m glad I watch this video because that’s how I feel. It not depression it more having to sorta loose what you thought 💭 it was your identity but honestly it more of the unpredictable or the wake up call of being a mom of two and life reality.
