I think gap years are so important, especially if you’re not really sure what you want to do moving forward and you don’t feel super motivated. I went in as a food science major because I thought that was the best option in getting a job later on in life even though my passion was in literature and writing. I finished my freshman year in college at a huge school, while living at home and was not happy. I hated the school, I wasn’t making friends, I hated my major and I didn’t like feeling stuck in my hometown. So I took a gap year between my freshman and sophomore year and was able to figure out so much and really discover what I’m passionate about and what I wanted to study for the rest of my time in college. I ended up moving across the country to a smaller school and it was the perfect fit for me and I was so much happier. So gap years don’t always need to be right out of high school to beneficial either.

Mystical Hippo Hi! High school senior here. I just wanted to hopefully offer you some comfort/advice. I had no idea where I wanted to go a year ago, had good grades but only a couple activities and wasn’t involved very much at school. The whole process was terrifying and a weight on my shoulders. You are allowed make mistakes, it will not determine your future. Not going to lie, I had my fair share of rejections and waitlists, but it worked out okay, and I’m so excited for next year. I would suggest doing a lot of research this summer on schools (or now, if you have time in quarantine), and brainstorming ideas for your common app essay. Get excited about some safeties, targets, and reaches, and know that it will turn out okay. Best of luck! :) PS: Make sure you check your deadlines! I missed the deadlines for UC Berkeley and a few other schools because I assumed it would be January 1st or early November.
@bellamaria19524 жыл бұрын
High school senior here that didn’t do that many activities and clubs. I get you, i was literally crying while doing apps bc i thought i didn’t do enough lol. i think the biggest thing is putting down anything and everything you did do. also focus more on your essays. if you can really show who you are through the essay/essays they are more likely to overlook the lack of activities. Really make they essay as polished and meaningful as you can. Maybe ask a teacher for help if you can, or ask them to proofread. I’m pretty sure this is what got me accepted to my top school! good luck and everything happens for a reason.

I relate to you so much. I'm a freshman rn and I am majoring in chemistry but I don't even know if that's what I want to do but I'm just doing it until I fully figure out what I want to do. 😅I am also in a long distance relationship which is very difficult but we are somehow making it work lol. I'm happy to hear you discovered what you are passionate about and switched your major! I hope I figure out what I am truly passionate about soon so I feel much more confident for my future. Thank you for making this video, it made me feel better that I am not the only one doubting my major and college decisions lol

Course Hero is REALLY helpful!! They also do quality video summaries on common books you might read in high school. They've saved me so many times for essays😩 and the best part is they're all free on KZbin

This helped me so much 🥺 I just got accepted into what I think is my dream school (Northwestern) but I can’t even visit to make sure I like it because of miss rona 😔 It feels nice knowing I’m not the only one stressing out about all this college stuff
