Great tips! I followed most of these for our first cruise on the Vloggers Extravaganza Cruise last year. Another good tip is to bring a compact travel umbrella although luckily we’ve never had to use them. We tipped our bartenders and they let us keep the bucket the beer came in on Carnival! You have a great basketball coach there in WV, Bob Huggins! Thanks so much for sharing new friend! Came over from Controversial Cruising!

Benadryl? I thought that was for allergic reactions. What about Dramamine or Bonine? Just sayin! This is a great video!
@FamilyAtSeaАй бұрын
@@patticulver I just fact-checked myself and the CDC lists Benadryl and Dramamine side-by-side on their list of medications for motion sickness, but I agree that Dramamine would have been a better OTC medication to mention there. Thanks for catching that!

@@JayCanell That's good feedback, thank you! I tend to be the guy who tries to find the good in most things, but being more transparent about the good AND the bad is a good idea. This was a cruising tips video but the vlogs and reviews I share I'll definitely try to be better about that. Thanks!

Great video to watch considering I haven't been on a cruise yet. I am curious about your opinion on one thing that I've read about though, and that's staying on the ship the whole time, even on port days. I've seen and heard that it could be a good idea depending on what you're wanting to do. What are your thoughts on that?
@FamilyAtSeaАй бұрын
@@guiltysparkmusicofficial It depends on the itinerary for us. If it's a very port intensive cruise (i.e. 5+ ports in 7-9 days) we will usually take a day off to recharge on the ship. If it's a port we've been to many times, we will sometimes do the same as well. A port day staying on the ship can be fantastic as the ship is less crowded and it can be truly relaxing!

❓❓❓The one and only cruise I've been on I felt woozy and lightheaded and have "sea legs" ..not nauseous. I had used dramamine prior to getting on the ship and during the cruise. My question, is that how sea sickness makes you feel or could it be from the Dramamine? I want to go on another cruise but I'm concerned about feeling woozy again. Thoughts?
@FamilyAtSeaАй бұрын
@@intherockies Dramamine can definitely make you feel drowsy and out of it. Fortunately, despite being pretty prone to motion sickness, I've only gotten seasick on my very first cruise (when I didn't take any preventative measures). For me, that was an intense feeling of nausea (and what followed 🤢) but only lasted until I got sick for the first time. If you look at the items in my description, the Sea bands w/ aromatherapy combine the effectiveness of Sea bands and patches in one tool, which works well. Some of the reviews mention that the bands on those are sometimes dry rotted so that's a legitimate concern for the usefulness, but as long as you get a good batch, they're very effective. Another thing to consider that I didn't mention in my video is choosing a room in the middle of the ship on a low deck as this will have the least amount of swaying, which may really help.
@intherockiesАй бұрын
@@FamilyAtSeaThank you so much for responding. Do you feel "sea legs" the whole time you are on the ship? I definitely feel it during the whole cruise 🤦♀️
@FamilyAtSeaАй бұрын
@@intherockies I've only felt it after getting off the ship, after an extremely rocky 7 days... The roughest seas we've ever experienced (fortunately the bands did their job, but sleeping was difficult a couple nights as it felt like we were going to roll out of our beds). That lasted 2-3 days on land after the cruise. You may consider talking to your doctor about Scopolamine. It's only administered by prescription but I've heard it is extremely effective for people who are prone to sea sickness. (if you go that route, make sure you follow instructions for titrating off after your cruise as stopping could turkey can make you pretty sick)
