I am so glad I found your channel recently! Very much enjoying and being inspired by your ideas and thoughts. Your simple hair styles inspire me also, since I have fine, thin but wavy to curly hair that is getting coarse gray, a tough textural puzzle! Still coloring at this point. We have more than enough 10 minute videos on KZbin. Give us the 30, 40, 50, 60 minute videos 😊🌸 My mom taught me when I was little that blackand navy don't go together. While sometimes I can agree with that sentiment, I love certain black and navy items together. Think it depends on the outfit, material and accessories. You look lovely in everything, especially the knit dress. Great tip using stockings as shape wear! I never ever would have thought to do that, thank you. How have your female relatives influenced your style? I feel everyone has a bit of a story to tell :)

Hi Yolandi!! I’m glad someone likes my rambling 😂 and thank you for your question… it really made me think. I believe I got the passion for beautiful things from my grandma… she traveled a lot and always came back with a necklace, a scarf or a bag from the place she’d visited. She also loved her beauty routine, specially hair and nails (she was the one who actually taught me how to put curlers in my hair 😌). And I think I got my admiration for a more classic, discreet style from my mom. She worked for a long time as the principal of a school, so she had to look put together, but still practical. I love how for her simplicity has always been a value… I wish I could be a bit more detached in that sense, but it’s a great example of a woman who isn’t a slave to appearances. Two powerhouses in their own right 😊

The purse you are showing in the last outfit is fabulous! I’m putting it on my wish list. All outfits are super classy and comfortable. I was born in Poland and moved to Canada 30 years ago. At the beginning I was still “dressing up” every time I was going outside. Sadly I was getting too many commends about my look. People were asking me where I’m going after work or were pointing out that I really went out of my way to dress myself. It started to be embarrassing, I was young and still insecure so I started to “dress down”. I’m happy to report that I can see way more stylish women out here lately, specially young. I need to add that I don’t live in the big city and most of the fashion here is gearing towards sporty, outdoors look. We have lots of stores that cater to this farmer/ ranch type of lifestyle. I wish we would have more boutique style of clothing stores. I love your style!

I got just such a comment from a neighbor yesterday “why are you so dollled up”? It was the first warm day of spring and hell if I were going to wear pants and be hot and uncomfortable. I hate jeans because in 50 years I have never found a pair that fits, so I get these criticisms almost every time I wear a dress or skirt, which is almost every day. I try to just ignore them, but I don’t know why people are so determined to make such remarks on other people’s clothing choices, they’re so annoying. I dress to please myself alone🙂

Dear Mariana, your videos are always so enjoyable and relatable! I always feel like blue and black don’t go together, too. It’s nice to see you wear the shoes you got in Brazil. I remember you talking about them. I wouldn’t be able to wear open toe shoes right now ( I live in northern Italy as well) because my mother used to tell me that if your shoulders are covered your toes should be too, and for some reason this stuck with me even if a lot of other “fashion advice” from her didn’t 😅
