Hi Patrina, Enjoyed the “Ask me anything” video. As a beginner gardener, not yet a year into this, I am forever grateful to have found your channel at the time that I did. I would say I’ve had more success than failures, so far. That said anytime I’ve been stumped (see what I did there) you’ve either answered my question or directed me to one of your comprehensive videos with an answer. I agree with you that the single characteristic for gardening would be passion and I think if the passion grows you know it’s for you. I’d never grown anything much before as I was busy with raising a family. Now that I’m retired (and RVing) I look forward to walking out to my small Dunedin garden first thing every morning. I love everything about it, the smell; oh my veggie plants are so fragrant. The sights, sounds, pollinators, birds all make it so beautiful. I think we all need to have someone and/or something to nurture and take care of. Thanks so much for your encouragement and help.

Passion yes I agree. After a stressful day I go in my garden and see my plants and yes I do talk to my plants too, the stress just disappears. It’s amazing!! 🤩

For 15 years at our old house I tried to garden. Nothing ever did really well. Yeah, I got some tomatoes, green beans and small little peppers. I fought the red clay and the lack of sun. Then we moved here and I have this sunny little yard. We moved in in June and I didn't get a garden bed until July and there was no plants left in the stores except a couple bell pepper plants and I put them in anyway and before frost, I had ACTUAL peppers! Not the little thin things that I had had before. Last year I grew cabbages. Real cabbages! And now there's a greenhouse and by next week I'll have 7 raised beds. All because my yard here is sunny and the soil is sandy instead of clay. Sometimes location makes all the difference :)

I love the idea of a Q & A. My first garden was a disaster, but it was a learning experience. I didn't let it discourage me. I started to look things up. I found you & Jacqueline. I learned as I went along, and things got better & better as I went. I'm still failing sometimes and each time I do I learn how to do it better next time. Thanks again for all you share with us.

Hello Petrina! Thank you for all your videos. I love it! Im from northeast PA zone 6b. Here the winters are too long for a gardener impatiently waiting for spring to start planting 😅. I started gardening indoor plants so when we bought our home 10 yrs ago, and 1 acre of land, crazy planting started😂. It was thought at the begining because here in PA the soil is very rocky and uneven. Last summer we started with raised bed ❤. Eggplants and strawberries were the only harvest i got but really enjoyed. I also planted two peach trees from seeds 5 yrs ago and every year i get some delicious peaches from both. Say hello to Peachy for me😊. Would like to see more videos about canning. Im still trying to figure it out. Thank u again for all your knowledge and your patience to share it with us!

My okra has a incredible will to survive I planted in august and thought a few weeks ago it was done and pulled it out and now it is starting to bloom again just lying out in the yard so yesterday I replanted it a grow bag.

Love it! Thank you so much for all the info and look forward to the future videos. My first plant was a jalapeño also, that had the will to survive. I too bought it on a boring Home Depot errand ha ha at the time I was RV traveling so I only had the one. Once I settled here I started grow bags, and in a month when I move to my new house I look forward to planning my garden. I have a few fruit trees I’ve started in containers like: bananas (those pup gifts), orange (purchased), papaya, avocado, mango. No fruits except orange tree I’ve got 2 but they hardly get sun now. I can’t wait to see what happens when they finally hit the ground. That could be another question, best time of year to plant fruit trees? Thank you again!

Hi Patrina, how do you get over the anxiety of I can't wait for planting and harvesting? Do you have to have compost?

Probably because I’m always planting. I start seeds every week, lol. You don’t have to use compost but I’ve found the plants just love it.

I live in Tampa and just built a 4' by 2' raised garden bed. I am new to gardening. i planted sugar snap peas along one 2 foot side and cucumbers along another. I am not sure what to plant in the middle. I was going to do potatoes or sweet potatoes but I am not sure if I would destroy the other plants when I harvest. Do you have any advice on how to fill about a 4 square food section?
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a

I would go with sweet potatoes. They love the heat of our summers. By the time they are ready to be harvested, the peas and cucumbers will be done.
