I have lived in Iceland for around a year now, and everything here is true. I'd like to add that Iceland really teaches you how to slow down and accept life as it is - I guess it falls into the "Þetta Reddast" saying but nothing ever goes to plan here, and no matter how hard you try to organize things it will never turn out that way. At first I found it really difficult but now I find it extremely freeing to just go with the flow no matter what I'm doing, knowing that the whole country works this way, and it has taught me to really appreciate life in the moment.

It's called SAD Seasonal Affective Disorder and it affects most people living in the northern hemisphere. Iceland has the added burden of long dark nights.

Bonza vid Mate. There is nothing that I don't like about living in Australia. The lesson I've learnt about living here is that isolation is bliss! The weather and beaches are great, the food (particularly fruit) is luscious and it's sparsely populated. There is snow, deserts, rainforests...

Great video Petr! I think that being totally ALONE as you described is a healthy and maturing experience for most people as long as it isn't for too long. During a long dark and quiet winter, with little social interaction it's not as easy to distract yourself from 'yourself'. Your thoughts and feelings are just 'there' and nearby imploring you to acknowledge them and perhaps deal with them in some way. It's almost like a sort of 'forced' period of self-reflection and meditation. From an Icelander living in Oslo, Norway.
