This is a record of a beginner drumming session with a total of 800 hours of practice. I've been filming from the first day to see how things will change after a steady practice, so I hope you enjoy it. I'm happy to be a part of it.

This project is to record how much better you would become if you practiced drums for an hour every day for a year. Let's see! I started this project because I thought it was a good idea.
And after two years of practicing for an hour every day, I've gotten reasonably good at it, but I'm still a beginner. I honestly feel that this is a realm that I'm in.
So, I decided to raise the bar and challenge the "10,000 Hours of Drum Practice Project". This leads to the
Partly for the purpose of experimenting with how reliable the "10,000 hour law" is, but actually the 10,000 The law of time is in a negative state of mind.
I have a personality that can't get over it unless I try, so I may not be able to do it at all. I'll try, so I hope you'll keep an eye on it.
What is the 10,000-hour law?
The theory that 10,000 hours of practice, hard work and learning can make you a top-notch or professional.

my music learning journey is the opposite of yours. I played drums for 2 months 2 summers ago. I stopped playing because I no longer have a drum set after the summer ended. When school started, I picked up fingerstyle acoustic guitar and have been practicing almost every day for the last 2 years. I felt like I had no talent for drums every time I tried to go back and pick up my drum sticks. Seeing your video reminds me of where I was --- can only play simple rhythms in time and looked clumsy. But you improved so much, now you look so cool and sound like a professional. Your video gives me a lot of motivation to get back into playing drums.

Yes buddy. But what things are good materials to practice things on drums? Because even if on the internet we have a lot of resources, it can be confused, it's so much information. I mean, to practice the right way, the right technique, or all work will be not so good. Just a little outburst, sorry, because I am a little sad about playing drums but I feel good when I play on it, but on my house it's difficult to practice because it's a acoustic drums so people here get mad because of the loud it makes, even if I drown it out, it still gets loud, when I play on it. And for the owner of the video, thanks to share your video to us.

I was the opposit of yours. My main was guitar but then when I feel like no matter what I do, enjoyment wasn't just there so I had to look for the right instrument. I tried piano but meh, not that one too. Then I picked up a pair of drumsticks one day then bam. I love drumming and I've been wanting to become good as this.

I had the same thing from playing drums. Playing instruments is totally a perishable skill. If you don't play an instrument for even just a few weeks, your skill level starts to go down. If you don't play for a number of years (like I did for drums/guitar) you can almost totally forget how to play it. Luckily remembering how to play the instrument hasn't been as hard as it was learning it the first time around.

good on you mate. best of luck in your progress for the next few years. from all the skills i have learned i have understood the hours spent on developing the skill to roughly breakdown as such: 1-500 hrs: building the basic foundation of the skill 501-650: learning how to analyze your current skill and how to improve 651-750: learning how to create curriculum to improve skill 751-1000: achieve general competency in skill +1000 hrs: every hour spent after the initial 1000 hrs is working towards mastery of the skill if we consider general competency to be around a 65-70% on a graded test, after the initial 1000 hrs, you tend to get diminishing returns for your progress toward mastery, which starts out at around 3% increase and drops down to below 1% the further along you go. each 1000 hrs can roughly be equated to a year of practice, assuming moderate to aggressive practice regimen. the road to mastery is long and difficult, often taking many many years. however, the effort pays for itself -- the difference between someone graded a 82% vs 83% may seem insignificant from a numerical standpoint, but to anyone who engages with that skill that 1% makes a world of difference. in music, that 1% could mean the difference between someone who has yet to develop their own sound vs someone who has, which is an amazing feat on its own and changes much when it comes to the characteristics of sound and musicality.

I never learned or played rudiments, or did such focused practice like this of any kind, or played with a metronome, or learned to read music. I should have.

Such an amazing thing to see your adventure into drumming. I've been a drummer for 20 years now and I can say it only gets better. Keep up the hard work. Your progress is amazing and you've only just gotten started.

What if..... .... the whole video was fake because the way he's holding the sticks is just perfect from the very beginning. Nobody who just started playing holds sticks like that.

I started playing on my own, self thought but there is a lot of things you can do that I can't do in my 12+ years of playing can't do, because I don't put much effort into practicing. Keep up the hard work! ✌🏼

Watching your timeline makes me feel honored that I’ve always had good drum gear. I was a spoiled drummer brat. I learned most of my drum set skills from church (I was the drummer for the praise and Worship band. I also went to middle school (6, 7, and 8th grade) and had music classes for one hour during school and band practice for 1 to 2 hours Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. After 6th grade 7th grade was more Demanding as o had marching band from 4 to 5, then jazz from 5 till 6, and praise and worship band from 8pm til 9pm on Wednesday, and Friday was football games (lots of marching) Saturday’s were filled with middle school Symphonic band and jazz. But I’ve always played a Sonor, Gretsch, or DW. They were beautiful drums and my parents bought me a lovely Tama Rockstar set with some Tama Cobra double bass pedals. Seeing you practice on a single pad like you did I bet gave you skills most of us could only dream about. Great video !!!! Loved it
The result of a drum beginner practicing 1 hour x 5 months every day with a basic practice book!
