The first half of Frontiers sure. The Second half is just bad. Not only did it fall into the formula that, at that point, only Tamers broke where only two characters mattered, it also just became nothing but formulaic. Episode would go - kids go to a new place - Dynasmon and Crusadermon would show up - Takuya and Kouji take all the powers to turn into their fusion forms - they lose - that segment gets deleted - rinse and repeat until the season finale.

(so sorry for the comment spam, im just excitable) big brain idea, what if koichi had TWO partners? his "true" line of liolmon to anubismon who ends up adventuring with takuya and the gang looking for his missing partner while cherubimon GIVES koichi loogamon, and even infuses him with dark energy so he can digivolve to ultimate, making the cerberumon in episode one the ACTUAL corrupted koichi's digimon. which could lead to a double purification of koichi and loogamon where koichi gives loogamon the kindness he's been looking for, leading to koichi having two digimon for potential jogress to match the power of takuya and koji

I was also thinking of a fusion evoultion, and you could use Shakamon as it has links to China as being based on Budha, and all 3 were in Journey to the West. Shakmon also seems to be setting on a Sun, which is the ultimate combination of light and fire.

Polarbearmon as an Ultimate-level Partner to the Ice Spirits works very well on top of reclaiming Espimon triats (assuming all the kids get their Hybrid and Unified Evolutions) if we use Someguy944's more tech-based hybrid and unified Ice Warriors. I think the Leomon we're looking for as a Darkness Champion is when Leomon in Adventure had a Black Gear inside him, dark skin and a black mane with pure white eyes.

For an alternate line for Zoey I'd have gone with Palmon to Sunflowmon to Lilimon to Rafflesimon/Lotusmonwhichever because despite being plants all these digimon are part of the _Wind_ Guardians field and have a strong fae/fairy vibe to them. I know the plant aspects would have been distracting especially when they fight Arbormon or whoever the Wood Element antagonist would be but I think it'd still be so fitting sticking to her fairy roots.

Hmmmm, while your ideas are great, I liked when you tried to tie the lines with a potential story. Takuya: The first partner, the first episode. I really like Meramon and Asuramon for him. While I am not a fan of using a Royal Knight, Gogglehead privileges kinda makes this fit. AND I can easily see this guy and Erlangmon fight back to back. The evolution might also mirror Takuya’s growth, from his hot headedness to maybe a slump mid series where Asuramon will give him guidance through his 3 heads and personalities. Then he would go onto being a more well rounded hero and protector (his relationship with Tommy was that of a protective older sibling) and unlock Gankoomon. I can see a story of their first meeting as the gang is entering the Digital World. The natural disasters are causing issues and Takuya in his standard protagonist ways saves one and evolves it to Meramon to help them fight off the monster of the week, maybe a DarkTyrannomon or something. Koji: I also like what you did here. Koji is a loner, a lone wolf and what helps one develop to being more personable than a loyal hound. Thus Labramon, Seasarmon, Caturamon and Erlangmon seem pretty good to me. Their first meeting could be similar to how Koji receives Lobomon. He comes across the gang and they are protecting Labramon and a group of Xiaomon from a group of Gazimon led by Fangmon. Meramon is struggling with the numbers while holding off the main threat and Koji saves Labramon, helping it evolve into Seasarmon and eventually chasing the group off. Koji will leave the group, but Labramon follows. Tommy: As usual, ya picked a good line for him. Frigimon > Polarbearmon > Skadimon is interesting as all of them share aspects of Tommy. Frigimon is sweet and gentle. Polarbearmon is child-like, causing mischief, but also shows great compassion as it builds homes for other Digimon. Skadimon is a guardian of its kingdom and again like Takuya, shows that Tommy has matured and now uses his skills to protect his allies. Now, storywise, I personally might throw a curveball and say SnowGoblimon. With a catch, this one is also bullied for having a more gentle personality compared to the other SnowGoblimon. The leader of the group, Hyogamon believes this will toughen him up, so the bullying goes on under his watch. Tommy might be able to help as he sympathizes with that SnowGoblimon and helps it become more confident, just like his brother did for him and eventually helps it evolve into something never seen before, Frigimon. Frigimon fights Hyogamon to a standstill showing that while you need to be tough to survive, you cannot forget compassion as well. JP: We struggle to find a alternate line that isn’t BladeKuwagamon, MetalifeKuwagamon and Tyrant Kabuterimon. I know you like Ballistamon, so I am not going to argue with the choices made, but I think Kokuwamon > Thunderballmon/Ballistamon > Metallife Kuwagamon > Raijinmon/Shivamon would also work. Storywise, it is very simple. Same story with the Wind Factory, replacing Goblimon minions with Dokunemon. Instead of JP telling the Kokuwamon that wanted to turn back to continue escaping, his conscience would force him to follow and when in danger of Snimon, Kokuwamon evolves. The development here would eventually have Kokuwamon be the first true confidant he ever had, which opens his character development and eventual growth. Zoe: Ah Zoe really gets shafted in the original. I do like Darcmon as a Champion, but it is somewhat hard to make a wind focused line that doesn’t overlap with the other female protagonists with avian partners. If we are keeping Darcmon, how about Luxmon as a rookie? It works really well as a slightly holy digimon to transition to Darcmon. Instead of Valdur or Venus, I actually like Gryphomon. There are Italian regalia depicting Griffins. She might see the form as something more representative of her coming to terms with her mixed heritage and help her gain enough confidence to stand above how you can be ostracized in Japan for just having blonde hair. While Luxmon isn’t too wind based, it could come from a village in the clouds with primarily bird digimon and some outliers like Patamon and Salamon. As with the others, Zoe bonds with Luxmon since she can't really fly to play with the others and is often excluded from their playdates. It is then that the village gets attacked by a threat which evolves Luxmon into Darcmon, giving her a confidence boost and having her save the kids that rejected her. Similar to the Frigimon day care episode. Koji: His story seems so much more fleshed out than the others and I like the idea of two Underworld connected beings being the Megas. I agree completely with the corrupted line, but I really don’t like GrapLeomon. Like Leomon is fine, but I am struggling to find something better to connect Leomon to Anubimon. Like… maybe Doumon works, but that is too similar to Taomon.

Idea for a part two of this, they each get a second partner to represent the other spirits which DNA with their main partner. Koji and Koichi would be difficult obviously but the others would go Takuya-Steel, Tommy-Wood, Zoe- Water and JP- Earth.

Or perhaps have the other spirits be represented as partners for an antagonistic group of kids that Koichi starts out as a part of. If we're keeping to kind of matching the plot structure of the original, if Ophanimon recruited kids to become partners then why not have Cherubimon do the same?

I'd been stuck on some conflict natters that a pair of characters could get involved in, and now knowing that there were some new ones opposed to another character is perfect for at least 3 chapters! I've always liked the idea of snow agumon becoming frigimon solely because of the fact I had the digimon adventure vhs with the episode where Tai and Agumon fought Frigimon and watched it so much growing up. So it has my vote for Tommy's partner line.

While i’m not fully sure on what lines I would give each of the kids, but something i would have tried to do would by having each partner posses a “Human” And “Beast” evolution for champion and ultimate but in a not 1-1 case where their champion would manifest as a human or beast based off what was more convenient for their prior form and then they gained further power tgat made them either more wild at first or a form tgey had more easier mastery over due to having more focus. The mega being a unification of the human and beast sides. In like a pseudo Tier 3 person’s fashion

Another good partner for koichi could be impmon. Not only does impmon have a "good" and "evil" evo line, but now also have the punkmon line. You could have the beelzemon line of impmon be counted as the "corrupted" line and have the punkmon line be the "purified" line It definitely goes against the lion motif of kiochi, but definitely is a fun way of showing his growth as a character using a somewhat villainous looking rookie partner

For Takuya, to mirror Koji and Erlangmon, there's also been another new Digimon teased for New Century based on Nezza, with a flaming spear and wheels on its feet and an aesthetic I'd say generally matches Frontiers and Takuyas that would also make lots of sense for him. Don't really have much else to add in terms of Digimon. Although halfway through the video I realized that this concept wouldn't even have to be for "if they never used the Spirits to digivolve in Frontier", but a "sequel" of sorts where they return to the Digital World and became regular Tamers since the Spirits materialized on their own in the ending iirc so they probably wouldn't have direct access to them anymore.

Also for Kouchi his corrupted line could go something like Loogamon into MadLeomon(since the Loweemon line has some connections to the Leomon line) into SkullSatamon and maybe use Murmukusmon here. For his purified line go into Snatchmon, Zanmetsumon and then either Arcturusmon or Dorbickmon. Do something a little different.

I always liked Spadamon as a rookie for Kouichi, even if its coloring scheme doesn't really lean into the dark aesthetic. It's like the perfect armored lion rookie Digimon.

I felt if they went down the partner route, it would’ve been a mix of 02 and Tamers. The Spirit and Beast digivloution would be like the Armor digivloution for the partner and their final digivloution would be DNA digivloution using their final Spirit/Beast form one (I forget what they were called). The villains would be kids under Lucemon’s influence and they would have the same treatment with their partners.
