▶ In this video I talk about the hypothetical scenario of India 'breaking up', with its current States and Territories becoming independent countries. Using this hypothetical, I go through a number of interesting factors and statistics; learning how each State is socially, demographically, economically and also religiously, etc. Through this analysis we are able to also compare states with each other. Understanding that a breakup of the country is not only extremely unlikely but a terrible idea.

There are separatist movement in India. 7 from memory being Proposed state contested over the India government have been firm upon though if violent unclear: -Andhra pradesh with the to be called Andhra in theory. -Telangana though this movement in a region to form a region inland into a country is very unorganized. -Assam region called Bodoland. -Arunachal Pradesh region called Teola. -Naga land a sort of ting already in east India with the contested (National Socialist Council of Nagaland). -Independent for a united United States of Kashmir which would be a union of Kashmir & Jammu. -Punjabs regions historical Khalistan Movement to recreate Khalistan. I only see the last 3 Naga, Kashmir & especially Khalistan are real viable possibilities for nation as they have outside backers & are fairly organized. Teola is so & so, so not really sure on the viability or local thoughts though a sizable enough movement no real backing or consorted effort to my knowledge. The 1st 3 of my list from top to bottom lack organization & have many issues so I don't really see them becoming a thing. Nagaland & Bodoland is mainly occurring due to religious difference & perceived injustices against the Christian native inhabitants of the region that feel mistreated by the Hindu corrupt Indian government. India is nota happy peaceful place. It is likely the most racist intolerant xenophobic place on the earth that was only ever unified in their dislike of the British as their former occupiers but we were saints compared to the Muslim Mughals empire previously in history.

Thank you for putting it up nicely, very good for self-reflection. We're so diverse in many ways but the idea of being one country pulls us together, and awareness of that diversity is very healthy to have understanding between us. The problem is the too diversed species. Humanity basically created artificial barriers around themselves and the diversity makes us unique. Freedom and peace to the world only could be achieved if the whole species could unite but until we have racism, nationalism, communal identities and religions basically impossible to unite all the humans despite we are all homo sapiens simply because the barriers and artificial hate toward others. I personally think once we improve our robotics the androids will take over the world and caretake us like childrens. You're a Mizo and I assume a Christian as well. So as a Christian, who's a minority nationally but majority in your own state, how do you feel about the rise of the Hindu nationalists/Right/Far Right and their increasing paranoia or hate towards Christians? Currently, much of their energy is preserved for Christians in the heartland, but do you expect them to come along to your state as well considering some of them have begun to believe that pre-Christian Mizo faith was a branch of tribal Hinduism?

@@didd2810 I'm an atheist, not christian, so I can't have Christian perspective. Most extremist I faced are Christian, so I doubt they're much better than hindu extremist, but there are many moderates who understand importance of mutual understanding. So even about this hindutva thing, as long as there's more people who put humanity first I have hope. I'm opposed to this anti-conversion thing though, because it shakes the core freedom of individual. That doesn't mean I take the sides of Christians. We cant even have yoga centre here because the church prohibits it, and last year, there's project proposal for LGBTQ safehouse from central govt, but these fundamentalist Christians didn't allow that. We are bigots, and we're proud of it. But I hope in 20yrs, things will change. I've never met anyone who believe that our ancestor's superstition have connection to hinduism, I know that some follows zo-sakhua, but they thought it's origin is from East Asia

@@lalmuanpuiamizo Mizo Christians are quite conservative more so than other coastal Christians that I have found. However, my question was on a more national scale than on a state level because the Hindu nationalists have more power and scale than Christian nationalists do. In Goa too, it is the Catholic Church that has been the biggest impediment for growth and development in the state and constantly keeps the state govt hostage. However, while this is an issue, I find the extremists in power in New Delhi to be more dangerous.

This is a very well researched video and a treat to watch. Even though it would feels like a miracle for any non-Indians to see that such a drastically diverse country in everything from language, culture, climate, geography and economics is actually managing to remain a single stable country rather than splitting up, I have always thought that it is actually this diversity that is the main reason that holds the country together. The diversity in our states make us have very different strengths and weaknesses and it is the Indian union that allows all of us to depend on other states for our weaknesses while we can afford to concentrate on our strength. A prolific federal system has accommodated this so long. But that system is very much under treat now and a very overdue restructuring of our constituencies is set to severely undermine the legislative power of states that have made significant progress in population control. I hope we can find a solution to restructuring constituencies without punishing the states that have done well.

Great video - though its worth mentioning that there are a hell of a lot of separatist movements in India. Often concentrated in many of the sister states(right of bangladesh), sikkhim, kashmir, and formerly in Punjab. Insurgency has been a problem throughout the country since soon after Independence and groups often try to opperate accross the borders with Bhutan and Bangladesh. A number of states even have separatist movements within them, like the Gorkhaland Movement in the north of West Bengal (near border with sikkhim). I'd recommend also reading about the Naxalite situation to get an idea of the sort of conflict that happens within India.

Out of 29 states there are at least 20 states whose bifurcation is demanded to create 2 or more new state. Let take a example - Uttar pardesh the largest, is proposed to divide into 4 smaller states. If all the demand of people excepted there will be more than 50 states. Every state in itself has very diverse regions and people. So on other country in the world exist that is so diverse and united like india🇮🇳 and with a Democratic regime.

Separate country problem may occure to Our Union after 2026 , Because from 1971 Parliament seats based on population was Frozen to reduce the population and after 2026 based on new population census Parliamentary seats are going to increse .right now some northern states are underrepresented in Parliament based on their huge population .So if Parliament seats are going to increase then northern states will get more seats and Southern states are going to loose political power. If with increased political power any national party want to impose any thing like language on south or northeast it might create huge problem .But I am very much Sure that most Leaders and most Indians respects and follow our Constitution ( May be not Completely but most part of Constitution)and Integrity of Our Indian Union is part of basic Structure of our Constitution so we might have some problem initially but finally these problems may resolved.

The best case scenario (or the worst case scenario depending on one's political ideology) would be all the states become a highly lose federation. With the Centre playing it's part for just foreign relations, security and communication. I'd add another thing, GST to be under the purview of a Central board, with representation from every state. We need uniformed indirect taxes, to ensure hassle free trade between all the states. Also movement of people should be free as well. The rest, from direct taxes, to different laws (religious to social) can be decided by each individual state governments.

To say that India was "split up" implies that India was, at any time prior to 1947, a singular unified country. It wasn't. The use of the anglicized word "India" (from the old Farsi word "Hindu," itself from the Sanskrit word "Sindhu") to refer to the general land mass east of the Indus River does not equate to it ever being a unified country named India that was divided in 1947. Prior to the creation of the sovereign nations, in 1947/1948, that make up South Asia (in Bangladesh's case, 1971) "India" was the word used by the Europeans to refer to South Asia, whether it be under their rule, the Mughal Rule (which never ruled the entire land mass), the Delhi Sultunate (which also never ruled the entire land mass), or any "empires" prior to those. Like many modern countries (especially in Europe), South Asia was divvied up into many princely states that were were only unified in singular nations upon the 1947 creation of both Pakistan and Bharat. If Indians understood and acknowledged this, there would be one less argument for them to make against Pakistan. That Eastern Pakistan shares many cultural commonalities with Northwestern/North Central Bharat does not make them similar countries.

We would have 10-15 territories atleast , 10-15 no. of national teams in almost every game , each and every individual will get exposed to thousands of opportunities . From schooling to employment to military to global representation. Spare me in the replies. I do love my nation , but just curious about this scenario.

@@didd2810 Nagaland would be a quarter of it on the Indian side. "Nagalim" would actually be more historically accurate even though India and Burma won't agree

@@zekliasajem2197 if I'm not wrong wasn't Nagalim a concept that came later, as a greater Nagaland idea that would incorporate all Naga majority and plurality areas outside of Nagaland which not only Burma but other Indian states quickly rejected.

@@didd2810 Nagas fought for all their people and when asked a name for their land they gave the name Nagalim. It was only later that India took the areas previously administered by the British and extended their control to the erstwhile excluded areas as well. Meanwhile Burma came from the east and took the remaining portion. Nagaland was created as an appeasement to the more vigorous or politically United tribes ; while the rest of the land and the people were divided, the history made unknown to the majority because of India's political and educational brainwashing. The freedom fighters also became divided due to intelligence mission of the Indian forces and became little more than petty guerrilla fighters who only sought power and wealth by misusing the name of a righteous movement that was broken from within. This is the condition till the present date and that's all the things I can tell briefly without any outside influence. ✌🏻

No really. For eg, other south indian states have their own culture and language much like Tamil nadu. So it is less likely that south india would unite under Tamizhakam if a supposed trifurcation happen.

I think he meant demographics wise but I'd imagine a breakup would see a few states become religious. States like Punjab, Tamil Nadu would likely be secular while states with high Hindu populations like HP would probably at least have Hinduism as a state religion.

Looked up Active Secessionist Movements in Asia on Wikipedia and here are the ones specific to India-Assam, Nagaland, Kashmir, Kamtapur, Manipur, Punjab, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu, Kukiland, Santhal Pargana, Rabha hasong, Gorkhaland, Dimasaland, Tiwa, Kerala, Garo Hills, and Bundelkhand.

And Kerala or Bundelkhand in that list is complete nonsense. Bundelkhand just wants to be a separate state of its own within India and Kerala, afaik, is one of the last states to secede. I guess a salty guy wrote all these lies.

Most of them are state movements (Bundelkhand, Garoland, Gorkhaland, Bodoland,Tipraland etc) they want to have their own region represented in political centre of indian government not secession. The only active secessionist movement is in Kashmir funded by Pakistani sources and rebels, Khalistan outside of India by some propaganda ridden countries and Nagaland insurgency issue which is a case of different idealogies between different tribes. They have few thousands at most vouching for it anyway. Rest of India is very peaceful. Manipur, Mizoram Meghalaya no longer have active separatist movements, even the movement in ulfa is going to die out soon. It is god's own country and no one can do any damage to it.
