Can you do these sorts of videos for fictional states as an exploration for how plausible those states and their achievements are, at least if you have exhausted major real life states for your videos? I wonder what your opinion is on how far Draka could have gone from its initial inception. IMO, not very far.

This video made me realize how much Sweden and Mongolia are actually quite similar. Mostly irrelevant in history, except for one moment when they were extremely important despite having almost no population or resources due to having extremely elite troops and a few incredibly good leaders and pioneering new types of warfare no one had ever seen before. And both lost wars to Russians at the end of their period of relevance. Course the Mongols had juuuuust a little more impact than the Swedes, but the comparison stands Edit: replies getting wooooshed to hell and back about that last part lmao

Any chances for a what if everything went perfect for France? Whether it's France during the 100 Year war (I think they wanted to invade England but failed spectacularely), France during the Colonial era and its rivalry with England or France under Napoleon Bonaparte.
@K.Pershing

The 100 years war was a war between the Platagenet French and the Capetian French, the capetians won by securing their hold over france while the platagenets got relegated to England
@kxmapper
@kxmapper Жыл бұрын
My opinion is, the best way for France to stay a very strong nation in the 18th and 19th century is to not start all these Napoleonic wars, maybe even not a revolution at all. After his final defeat Napoleon left France with a demographic catastrophe. In the beginning of the 19th century France was the most populated country in Europe after Russia, but in the end of it it was one of the least populated among major powers. People are the basis of everything in the country, so this explains why France slowly lost it's place in the world.
@wargamesmaster
@wargamesmaster Жыл бұрын
@@kxmapper Napoleonic France could have survived if Bonaparte was not so prideful and stupid in the last coalition war. 3 things that would have saved his "empire": not attacking Spain, not attacking Russia in the winter or accepting the Frankfurt proposals when it was offered (Napoleon would have kept his throne and a decent territory which included the Rhine, Belgium and a tiny part of Catalonia, if I'm not mistaken).

@@wargamesmaster I think we can resume that with "don't put the continental system in place". It's essentially what forced the Peninsular War and Russian Invasion. There is the question of whether he could ever have trusted the british not to undermine him, but as soon as he deemed an invasion of the Isles impossible, lasting peace with them should have been priority number 1.

Other minor factors to consider would be how Sternberg’s Mongolia of White Russians would be receptive to other former White Army warlords who would now be in the Axis. Two examples are Grigory Semyonov who was a Japanese supported warlord and eventually tied to Japanese intelligence in Manchuko, and Pyotr Krasnov who was with the Nazis in WW2. These individual previous warlords who allied with the Axis could be made leaders of these new Russian puppet states carved out of the USSR. Obviously there would be mass purges, but how these states interact with each other and as proxies for Germany and Japan during WW2 would be important and difficult to predict without further analysis. Then there’s also the Russian Fascist Party and how they might influence German rule in Russia as well as how the Russian puppet states had relations with this White Russian controlled Japanese puppet state of Mongolia. Depending on how the war goes these puppet states might not get along with each other depending on who rules them and how. Again, this is all difficult to predict and I guess beyond the scenario in some ways. But going with everything working well for Mongolia, they would make alliances with these new states and potentially declare independence from Japan with support from other warlords as Japan is defeated by the Allies. Mongolia would also need to find a way to switch to the Allies if it wants to remain with its current government and defeat Germany. This is all speculation based on the scenario, and you did a good job PH, this is just some additional considerations for the video. Again, it would all be different to predict and there are many moving pieces, factors, and conditions to change Mongolia’s circumstances in the scenario and again, well done PH.

I'm not sure it's realistic for the Germans to reach the Urals. Even if they manage to take Stalingrad, Astrakan and the North Caucuses Oil fields, that doesn't necessarily mean they would be able to reach Archangel or Moscow. A more realistic direction for this timeline's German-Soviet front might see the post-war border roughly following the Volga or something.

I would like to recommend a concept for a new series you could do. The idea is that you take the place of a historical leader, and you choose what decisions to make as that historical leader based on what would be the most beneficial for the nation the historical leader you chose ruled over. The way you would go about doing this is you would base your decisions off of the knowledge you had at your disposal at the time. For example, you could do a video where you take the place of Louis XIV and you choose how you would expand the size, influence and power of France in the 17th and 18th centuries. Or you could take the place of Louis XV and decide how you could preserve the French empire in America and India. Perhaps you could even take the place of Louis XVI and decide how you could prevent the french revolution if you were in his position. A criticism you could levy at this idea is that it’s too similar to the series you’re already doing on “What if everything went perfectly for X”, but I disagree. Firstly, this series is about making decisions as a single person, not for an entire nation over the course of hundreds of years. Secondly, with your “What if everything went perfectly for X” series, you utilize the benefit of hindsight. With this series, you limit yourself to the knowledge of your chosen leader. You Don’t HAVE to do it this way, you could utilize the benefit of hindsight for this series too, but limiting yourself this way would help differentiate this series from your “What if everything went perfectly for X” series. You might as well try this idea on for a video and see how it performs. If it performs badly, you don’t have to continue it. But if it performs well, you could have another successful series on your hands. It is low risk, high reward. With how many historical leaders there are, the possibilities for this series are limitless! Some ideas for historical leaders to make videos on are Seleucus, Justinian, Louis the Pious, John I, Charles V, Phillip II of Spain, Charles XII, Peter III, Napoleon, Charles X, Napoleon III, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and so many more!

I think the Huns were kinda doomed to collapse given that they relied on subjugated peoples to grow their food. With some luck and some reform maybe they stay dominant over moder Ukraine and Hungary. OTL they tried to take Antioch, so if that succeeds I could see them potentially even causing the downfall of the ERE and the Sassanids, which would be interesting

@@theunreadyone the problem you just mentioned described every horse-nomad nation with any historical significance. Be it Huns, Mongols, Manchus or (early) Turks. Yeah, reform would absolutely be necessary, probably some hybridization between hun and Germanic cultures (like Turkish came from Turkic and hellenic cultures) if not straight up adopting local culture (like the Manchus did when they became the Qing dynasty) I do think it would be quite interesting to have a hunnic-germanic empire that likely would be Arian Christian (the conversion of Germanic tribes from arianism to the nicean creed happened largely under the Frankish after the fall of the Huns) as a sort of mirror to the Roman empire and it's nicean christianity

Thus video is flawed. The whole reason why Japan never pushed forward with a Soviet invasion was because they got shit mixed by the Soviets at the Battle of Khalkin Gol. Another thing is that Japan didn't go through with the invasion because they're aware of what America would do if they interfered with American shipping/lend lease. Invading the Russian far east would do exactly that & American war against japan will be triggered much earlier. Something the Japanese didn't want.

Mongolia is a kinda sad nation, no matter how far back you go you can’t REALLY ensure their best outcome, like you could say like, maybe the Golden Horde managed to somehow survive through reforms and integration from empire building, but that would be too uncharacteristic and therefore would be playing a game of “let’s change the people in history so they make better decisions to get better outcomes” A.K.A. pure fantasy. Now Batu Khan was a great leader, but I’m doubtful he could’ve successfully ensured long term survival of the Mongolian hegemony, making it more similar to the Timurids than say, the Roman’s or ottomans (achieving a long golden age, inevitable to collapse, since all empires inevitably do)

So I Had this Video Idea where the worst possible scenario for a country is created under the condition that the country cannot Stop existing before the country in our Timeline Stopped existing. Like the soviet Union couldn't dissolve before 1991. If the country however exists today (Like Germany ) It cannot dissolve altogether.

I doubt Germans could win during 1942 even with Japan attacking Far East Majority of lend-lease happened after battle of Stalingrad, and the lend-lease provided secondary things, that didnt had direct impact on combat

As a Mongolian, having to be in-between powers such as russia and china is like a knife being stabed into u from both sides but you know what is worse? Fascism and being the enemies of "Imperial Japan" which is just the same shit but now the knifes have turned into 50cal bullets. If the best state of my nation requires the most dogshit "at the time" nations to be victorious then I guess its truly over for my nation boys gg😮‍💨😔🇲🇳💥
