I think they stated in the GvK novel that one of Ghidorah's storms was left behind when or before Ghidorah died and when Camazotz was summoned he dragged the storm to skull island, by the time kong beat Camazotz it was to late both storms (skull island storm and Ghidorah's storm) had combined hence why we saw that super storm in GvK
