They got a diffrent training because the knew about the saiyans. They dont know about them yet. tien would get the same training which goku got in the original. But he may be faster learning because tien is more into the meditation thing unlike goku

Well you have to remember that goku did the training alone and the others were together and could learn from each other so I think this is a very important different like that krillin knew how to fly after his journey with tien and the others, he learned it from tien . I think Tien wont be that much stronger than goku was after his training with kami except the fact that he probably be faster in the begining of the training because he is used to meditation

I think Kami would choose Tenshinhan in this scenario. Rolling the dice on guiding him down a better path because of the change of heart he’s had seems more like Kami, and I feel like he might like the idea of a reformed villain facing off against the reincarnation of his evil half. Besides, this could be the last insult Goku needs to turn him full-on antagonist. Without Kami’s training he probably won’t beat Piccolo Jr. and Tenshinhan will, and knowing he got special training from God will stick in his craw. Maybe it’ll push him into going full villain.

Kami should take both of the boys up, only Goku (being Saiyan which Kami knows about) can get strong enough fast enough to beat Piccolo. Having Tien around will allow Goku to realise that he isn’t special and he will have time to make friends with Tien which will force Goku to realise that he was wrong. Tien will be a great rival for Goku since he will pickup the techniques fast enough to compete with Goku pure strength.

My vote is for Tenshinhan. I believe that given all the evidence in front of him, Kami would want to foster Tien's growing nobility far more. Also, it provides for an interesting conflict in Goku feeling slighted for being rejected by Earth's god.

Crazy Idea. What if Kami chose both Tenshinhan and Goku. Maybe he would prefer to just train Tenshinhan, but is too scared that he might not be strong enough, so he also takes Goku with him hoping he realizes that Tenshinhan did change and he should stop judging people without knowing them. This could also lead to a slight power boost for Goku, because he has a strong sparring Partner. To further improve the story you could Tenshinhan be the one to defeat Piccolo. Maybe due to the Mafuba which he learned from Kami and only he knows it, because Goku thinks you shouldn´t use such "cowardly" techniques. Piccolo Jr. learned the anti-Mafuba after encountering it so often in his past life. But without Tenshinhan using it on him and not knowing that he was Roshis Pupil, he thinks there is noone left who could use it, therefore never learning the anti-Mafuba. I know this sounds crazy but if you go with my approach to let Kami take both in to train and Goku does learn of his mistakes, then the "what if" ends right there. But if Tenshinhan defeats Piccolo then this would be Gokus first true defeat and with ist former attitude could lead to him being infuriated for not having the chance proving that he is the strongest. I bet you might have even better ideas and this was just a quick thought of mine. Either way I look forward how this story continues ^^

While Goku training under Kami could set him back on the right track, narratively it makes the most sense for Kami to pick Tien. Plus I love exploring the idea of characters other than Goku becoming Earth's champion.

I think Kami choosing Tien would have way more interesting potential. In a way it could see Goku down a "Vegeta-esque" path of him becoming determined to beat Tien. You could even have it so that, during the Saiyan arc, Tien dies saving Goku's son and that starts to be the catalyst of his character development.

Tien already has a wide variety of techniques so learning from Kami would benefit him a lot more. The actual potential for Tien is really high as well, we see that in how he could hold off semi-perfect Cell. His biggest issue was he always trains alone, if Kami took him under his wing then he probably would be really strong until it becomes all about transformations.

My pick here is for Tien. Not only would this be more interesting from a fan perspective, but currently Tien is proving himself to be more worthy of Kami's training than Goku would be. I'd like to add an idea to this though. What if Kami sends Tien to Goku to tell him that in order to receive training from Kami himself that he must purify his heart. Of course, Goku is angry about this and tries to beat Tien recklessly saying that he doesn't need Kami's help. But of course Goku is proven wrong and beaten easily. Thus begins a very interesting and conflicted journey for Goku's character in the 5 years leading up to the start of Z, but in the end what you do with this idea Masako I leave up to you :). Or, you know do whatever you want! I'm sure either way It'll be awesome :D. I just couldn't help throwing in my own 2 cents, can't wait for part 3! Keep up the great work :D.

Personally, I see this 2 ways. 1. Goku trains with Kami to reach the next level, and becomes more arrogant. 2. Tien trains with Kami, infuriating Goku and still leading him down a dark path. My choice is to have Tien be chosen. It would be a good way to eventually humble the young Saiyan, and teach him the lesson Roshi desperately wanted to do.

Tien. And Goku might join the crane school. I think the most important consequence would be that Goku might lose the ability to influence and change for the better the people around him. You mentioned Totallynotmark and his analysis on Goku and the signature aspect was his ability to impose his rightfulness on ppl like Tien, Piccolo, Vegeta etc. He will not have his charisma anymore, he would be more similar to Vegeta at this point... I'm also wondering if he should have been able to use the kinton cloud in this episode. Not sure.

I think it would be interesting if Kami actually picked both Tien and Goku. It seems to be in Kamis' character to try and see the best in everyone, along with covering his bases and do his best to possibly help both of them. Also for both of them to train under Kami would lead to more unique character development, Tien and Goku forming a more healthy rivalry, both getting stronger by training with one another and possibly even help curb Goku's pride/social problem slightly by using Tien to help Goku realize that not everyone is the same despite them using similar moves or tactics, and a few trips to the past of previous fighters who had this very problem would also help jog Goku out of this rut. It wouldn't be a overnight fix but it would probably be the thing that pushes it into a new direction and give Goku a different perspective, if only for the better. Essentially for both of them to pass through Kami's training successfully both learning a proper lesson, because so far despite a prideful attitude problem, it seems Goku's Heart is still in the right place which is what really counts.

My vote goes to Tien Shinhan - I don't see this Goku being able to befriend Piccolo jnr ever, (so that role could go to Tien,) but I do think it would be interesting to watch as Goku effectively accuses Tien of cheating by using the water. On the other hand, I COULD see this Goku accpting Raditz's offer if Raditz was clever enough to offer Goku a way of getting stronger/some good fights.

I'd like to see Tien train with Kami, but I'd want to see if Kami and Popo can mold Goku into the person he is in the original timeline. The three years Goku spends on the Lookout gave him time to train and Kami makes him see the errors of ways, making Goku humble. This eventually ends with Goku returning for the tournament and seeing his friends again as a changed man, trying to make amends to them for being an arrogant boy.

At the point of this "What If..." scenario, I would say that Ten Shin Han would be chosen by Kami. Goku might be the strongest person there is in the DB universe, yet that arrogance IS his down fall and knowing how things are going would led to more problems if this scenario follows through to the DBZ ark.

This would not only mean that Piccolo could best Goku in the 23rd tournament, but also Tien. This Dragonball scenario seems more like it features Tien turning into the man Goku was supposed to be.

I think that Tien should go, but not alone. I think that Kami should feel that Goku could become another threat like His evil counter part. And that the God invites one other, Krillin. The friend of Goku that could pull him from the brink of evil, and not Tien who Goku has no trust for. Then Goku might lose to not one but two fighters he knows, and understand that there is no 'I am the strongest' as there are ever growing challenges awaiting. There is only 'Becoming stronger to overcome challenges.' Which may set him on the right path...

Raditz(or any other villain turned hero through a what if) would do something, but Goku would be the star of the show. Abridged is too complex for me to guess how that could turn out, considering it’s a fan based parody in the first place. GT...I don’t care enough to ponder that.

Pick Tien! It would make things much more interesting and challenging going forward. It is also a total change then the normal story of Goku having the limelight or of things mostly always working out or playing the safe route for the sake of the story. Like making Goku good again or even training them both so that the world stays nice and safe. No! Lets have some drama! Danger! Lets really turn the fork in goku's back and see where the story goes. Lets change the normal story and really have a challenge. Do it Masako! Do it!

He considers Goku because Goku is stronger, but also considers Tien because he's nearly as strong as Goku and is making a big change towards the side of good. So it comes down to who Kami decides to contact, he might just contact both to see how it goes. I hope he contacts Tien, he's one of my favorite characters next to Master Roshi.

I feel like it Kami would choose Tien, and without that training, Goku would lose to Piccolo, Chichi still falls for Goku, and they get married, but when Goku learns of Gohan's power, unlike what happened in the original timeline, he "plays" with Gohan, training him to access his power. This gives Goku a training partner, and when Raditz shows up.... It's a little bit of a different story.

What if Raditz was sent to Earth instead of Goku? I personally find this one to be interesting due to the fact that Raditz is older than Goku by a significant amount of years, so he could be closer with Bulma than Goku was, I'm just spit balling ngl.

I think that if kami trains Goku and puts him in his place. That could lead to an interesting arc of clashing ideals for goku and that could all come to a climax with vegeta. This is an awesome what if! Keep up the good work!

Tien. As much as I'd like to see Goku get a wake-up call, Tien already has turned himself around, and I love his redemption arc. Goku's gotten enough love over the years. Besides, just because Tien is the one chosen doesn't mean Goku can't have his head extricated from his ass later down the road, though at this point I don't see him ever being like his main timeline self in this what if.

Kami should take both, similar to the 2 disciples attempting to become the next Guardian of Earth (Kami being the one who succeeded) Both increasing power, however Goku in the end, falling out of grace and being banished from the lookout. Tien becomes a beacon of hope, and Goku bewildered. In a few days time everything he had striven for had been put to shame, and he who was stronger was just played as second fiddle by "God." He is now lost and must find his way, the turning point being when attempting to call Nimbus and falling through. Goku is no longer pure of heart, does he turn to Korrin or Roshi? I want to see what if any you derive from this.
