Yeah. I am pretty sure he would be butterflied away. Also there is a strong chance that Korea would be poorer (like Vietnam or The Philippines) as South Korea received a lot of investment from the US during the Cold War as a shield against North Korea and China. So that means no KPOP (at least KPOP as a global cultural phenomenon) and Samsung would be making T-Shirts and Couches instead of Smartphones and TVs.

The thing is, Japan's performance in the war was not excellent. It may look this way, but only because chinese troops at the beginning were disorganized and in disarray due to political shitfest of 1930s China. Chinese became much more organized and resilient once Japanese started commiting war crimes on them, uniting the chinese front against them for good. If Japan simply kept to military matters and focused on occupation of territories rather than genocide, we could have had completely different East now.

I have to disagree on the colonial aspect of this. The French would perform loads better in the indochina war without the communists being funded by China, and taking shelter across the Chinese border. I’d imagine the French would win the Indichinese war, although the result of this isn’t very clear. Malaya would probably be decolonised later than normal, with no Malayan emergency. Britain would probably also hold onto Singapore. The Netherlands are where it gets interesting. While it would be impossible for the Dutch to maintain control over all of it, they could hold onto parts of it. Especially with Sukarno not having risen to prominence, and the Dutch actually getting to enact their colonial reforms in the war. The Dutch could hold onto New Gunnie and maybe even Java into the modern day as parts of the Tripartite kingdom of the Netherlands.

You say that as if Chiang's China would have accepted the continued colonial presence in Indochina. He and Mao were both in opposition to that. Obviously the ideological rationale differs but China is not gonna sit on its ass and let France return, whether it's a Nationalist or Communist China.

@@gengarzilla1685 you are correct there, but Chiang probably would have preferred French rule over communist rule and definitely wouldn’t have supported the vietkong with the artillery and AA weapons that the PLA did. Although you are correct that he would almost certainly have some role to play in the inevitable collapse of French indochina. Backing various independence movements, guerrillas or putting on pressure through the UN and US are all options open to him. Chiang would get an independent indochina, but almost certainly not through communist means.

If this occurred, carriers may not actually become as significant in naval warfare as they are now. A big reason carriers became so valuable was because in the pacific war, the USA lost a lot of its battleships, meaning they had to fight the Japanese with what they had left, being carriers. This showed just how useful carriers were, and how obsolete battleships had become.

They were a barely industrialized new nation fighting a naval conflict with Britain at the height of her power and later French and American forces. Obviously, there were military blunders that they *shouldn't* have made, but the Italians were way out of their league from the get-go. I mean, they were left to solo the British Empire and the Germans act like they had to go help their incompetent allies, and that the North African campaign didn't *still fail* when German forces arrived

Italy absolutely destroyed ethiopia and easily took out Yugoslavia, Germany, bulgaria, romania and Hungary simply wanted in, italy quickly defeated Greece once they got supplies, the axis would have lost by 43 without Italy, Japan barely did anything, they simply distracted the allies, Japan lost against China.

Similar to “what if Germany kept trying” do “what if France kept trying” 1871 - France loses Franco Prussian war, cedes Alsace Laurene to Germany 1914-1919 - France’s loses the weltkreig, and cedes the border region of Alsace, cedes Nancy, dunkirk, and Lillie, while Germany annexes Luxembourg and the all the land up to the Meuse river, while making a puppet of Belgium. Also France ends up undergoing a far left revolution and the original government flees to Africa 1939-1945 - France loses the second weltkrieg, and cedes the area around Calais and up to Amiens, which is given to Germanys Belgian puppet. France’s original government is restored to power under restrictions 1948 - France loses 3rd weltkreig, forced to cede the Lorraine plateau behind the cities of Nancy and Metz, and also cedes all of the French alps to Italy, while Switzerland also gains land up to annecy, furthermore, britanny gains full independence while France itself becomes a complete puppet government of Germany, permanently.

I think the outcome for Indonesia is very clear as you predict, and even have been tried before. After the 1949 circle table conference in Den Hagg, where the Dutch recognizing Indonesian independence in De Facto Terms, they accepting Indonesian independent if the future of Indonesian states is a federal states, with the exact model of United States. this has been implemented with Republic of Indonesia, Eastern Indonesian States, Tribe States, and Maluku Republic as the member of United States of Indonesia. Although it only last for one year, as Indonesian reunited their country as a centralized states as they desire. Dude the Zimmerman telegram was a forgery by the British (with Wilson's knowledge and consent) meant to justify America's entrance into WWI. Why would Germany in 1917 want America to enter the war? Why send a telegram on networks that were exclusively controlled by the British Empire. Germany has a chance at a white peace or even a major victory on the Western Front in 1917 and inviting the US to the war is just complete foolishness. Also Germany knew Mexico was weak because they had just got out of a pretty awful period of civil war and unrest. There is no rational reason for Germany to have sent the Zimmerman telegram and thus I firmly believe it was a forgery created by the British Empire.

After 50 years in year 1867 the federak state Danubia splits into 2 federal states - Bohemia and Hungary. In this alternative history duke Franz Ferdinand wasn't assassinated, but successor to the throne and first born son of Christian 10th - Frederick instead. The great war was going on just like in Reality. If the great war win Triple Alliance, then Knut Christian (second born son of Christian 10th) ruled the Denmark-Norway and the part of Oldenburg monarchy in Central Europe (Federal states Bohemia and Hungary) was split like in reality, but Silesia and North and South Lusatia were part of Czechoslovakia. So for the third scenario here's what I suggest: We both know that invasion Barbarossa went incredibly well! At first that is. Then, the Soviets started pushing back the Nazis. Which would lead to them eventually liberating Eastern Europe and even capturing Berlin! While this might seem obvious to us with the power of hand sight, back in 1941, there were reasonable reasons to believe that the Soviets could be defeated! So what if, for whatever reason, the Germans after failing at Stalingrad, decided to offer peace to the Soviets. However the Nazis start to ACTUALLY be pragmatic and they realize that realistically they can't win! What if this scenario happens! For the Third, theres a explanation of how it could happen. (Not in order) Firstly, Italy joins the war later and prepares better, and with German insight the Suez is bombed. Concessions to Franco are made, Axis troops can cross through Spain to enter Gibraltar. Poland and the Battle For France are the same, but Hitler never gets mad about British bombings of Berlin and instead focuses on ports and airports, weakening the RAF to an extent that they might lose the air war. The British navy is trapped in the Mediterranean and Italy can go in. Without an easy access to India, Britain is further weakened. Italy never invades Greece and the Axis solve Balkan problems. Yugoslavia is invaded because of Italian demands. Now, Italy invades Greece with Bulgarian help and rushes them down. Now for Barbarossa.. Germany invades sooner with the Balkans done quicker. The Germans reach Moscow as lend lease never happens. Hitler attempts to capture Stalingrad, which is a success as the Soviets are still in confusion from German capture of Moscow. The Axis heads for Baku and the RAF bombs Baku Oil Fields without warning, causing issues for the Soviets, with no warning the already big distrust grows. At this point America is in the war and the Soviets are getting on there feet. Operation Torch happens and the Axis is out of Africa, but Rommel gets to Italy and causes issues. Torch is weaker with the weaker Britain. Ailles attempt to invade Sicily, but with Rommel the operation is a disaster and Ailles focus on Asia First instead. Soviets begin to push the Germans back but counteroffensive is weakened. Ailles need to open a front and invade Axis Aligned Spain. A horrible choice. The ailles gain ground but it becomes a early Vietnam. They are getting bogged down slowly. Churchill rushes D-Day and it fails. Operation Bagration is a success though. The Soviets have reached the Dniper and the Axis have installed defences. Operation Bagration is bogged down however Spain’s low industry gets destroyed by the Ailles. It is 1946, Japan has been defeated and both Axis and Ailles have the bomb. The war has dragged on so long and both sides have had enough. Peace Treaty: Germany gains Lebensraum to the Dniper. Portugal gains Galica and everything else in Europe is roughly 1942 borders.

I feel like a video for Italy should be in order now. I’d imagine they’d invest in actual competent tank designs or even support vehicles. While also having a slightly larger navy dedicated more to there fleet of “large destroyers” and light cruisers for higher speed operations in the Mediterranean. They probably could have taken Malta, With proper support maybe hold parts of Egypt and Syria… Forcing Turkey to either become an ally or alternately surrendering the Bosphorus over to Italy. Not to mention Italy eyeing up Greek islands, I’d imagine Northern French-Africa would fall to a combined German-Italian assault. If Germany gave support to the Italians for the invasion of Yugoslavia right of the bat or because of the victories just asked for land at first and then take the rest (like Germany did) then it may be an easier grab.

could you make a video "what if italy won the first italian ethiopian war?" I think this is a very interesting scenario, because thanks to such a seemingly small war, the First World War could have become completely different. After all, Italy with the resources of Ethiopia (lots of gold) could become a strong state. Most likely, she would not have fought with Turkey in 1911 over Libya. And since France and Russia supported Ethiopia in 1895, Italy would become a more loyal ally for Germany. Although I think there is a second scenario, if Italy would become more valuable to Germany than Austria-Hungary, be it the collapse of Austria-Hungary, or Italy’s claims to Austria Hungary and conflict of interests in the Balkans. Serbia could then become an ally of Germany.

I've actually seen something like this happen in HOI4 once... Arms against Tyrany had just came out and I was playing as Sweden... I'm pretty sure I had Historical AI on... France Fell in 1939, Japan got kicked out of China by 1939, and they lost Iwo Jima by 42... I noticed they still hadn't taken Guam yet either, so I joked that they pulled all their resources into trying to take Guam... When they finally took Guam in 1947, I joked that the Americans just decided "Just let them take the island...it's kind of depressing at this point) Also I learned that the Yalta conference event can still happen even though the Germans Owned Yalta... and Sweden dropping 10 nukes on Berlin still wasn't enough for them to surrender...
