Kakashi is by far one of the most important characters in the Naruto series. In the past, I have talked about cruxes. People at the very center of a causal nexus. As bad as I REALLY want to quote Madara here, I believe it is best for me to just save time and continue on. But the point is, Kakashi was such a talented individual, but as his story was really at the start of Naruto, so much of it rolls through the story, picking up steam in a snowball effect that reaches climax in the Fourth Shinobi World War. A lot of this stems from things Kakashi could or couldn’t do. The choices he made and the things he did affected the story forever. Effected it in ways he could never have comprehended, even with the near-precognitive prowess of the Sharingan. As powerful and skilled as Kakashi was though, he was unable to protect the two things he cherished most. So, let’s give Kakashi a little hand and help him out, see if this extra juice we call Sage Mode can actually allow Kakashi to change fate and save what he loved the most.

Kakashi does have large reserves of chakra... the land of waves arc was him being rusty from having stayed in the village failing genin teams left and right for the last year. There's a reason he became known as Kakashi of the sharingan... cause he was actually able to use it. And further proof is the Konoha crush attack at the end of the chunin exams was stated to have been a couple hours long. Hiruzen vs Orochimaru alone was over 1 hour long. And Kakashi used sharingan the whole time just fine.

Sage mode is achieved by balancing incoming nature energy with your own internal energy. The level of reserves doesn't matter, but higher means better control, and higher Sage Output.

With the bloodline purges nonexistent, either Haku and his mother face no prejudice for the bloodline or are sent to their ninja village for indoctrination. If the later Haku will likely die unless his training makes him willing to kill, this being due to their training method including killing a classmate. This would still be in effect since it was a thing when Zabuza was a student, long before Yagura was under Obito's influence.

Love the concept. In your Ao comparison he seems to be able to turn off his Byakugan and has some sort of deal on it which I imagine helps, where Kakashi's Sharingan never deactivates. It is always syphoning chakra, it just gets heavier when he actively uses it. Danzo also has a seal on his arm.

Kakashi actually has a bigger chakra reserve than you think. As you know bro was depressed for most of the story. He essentially had a permanent mental debuff. Sense half of chakra is spiritual and mental energy it was permanent. Also the chakra cost of the sharingan is a thing when in use and here is the thing Kakashi's sharingan was on permanently. He could never deactivate it, just puts it at rest and the drain and stamina cost is still their. We see in the post war arc novels that the after he lost the sharingan his reserves increased 10 times. Danzo has Hashirama cells which improves his chakra reserves. Ao had proper covering so he can activate and deactivate his stolen Byakugan.

One factor I feel is not looked at mental blocks in Naruto. Kakashi in the beginning of the story was still grieving. In Naruto you can either be buffed by your mentality or weakened by it. I feel Kakashi always had large chakra pools, but because he had mental blocks due to his grief over his teammates he always limited how much chakra he had access to. Same thing happened to Minato during the 4th Shinobi War. Once he learned Obito was the masked man who resulted in his and Kushina death he had mental blocks that made him slow. When Naruto helped him overcome it, Minato was back to being fast enough to catch truthseeking orbs by Jubidara on his coat, fly it away and not get his coat damaged.

The fact that Kakashi could use multiple shadow clones shows that he had a relatively large amount of chakra reserves. His "Shadow Clone Jutsu" in the Land of Waves mission was him using the regular clone jutsu to pull off a hell of a bluff. At best he'd have the minimum amount of chakra needed.

@@monkehman979 Yes, he stated his reserves were average, but the danger of the shadow clones resides in the fact that the chakra cost is fixed; dividing up the chakra evenly between each clone. Then again, the Tajuu Kage Bunshin/Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu is the kinjutsu, not the standard Shadow Clone Jutsu. That version specifically is due to his it is meant for generating hundreds of clones rather than dozens. But we do also know that Kakashi also had a limit on firing off four Lightning Cutters while using the passive drain of the Sharingan.

There was an idea that came to me thinking off Kaguya Ootsusuki's wasted potential. What if Kaguya anticipating Hagoromo splitting the ten tails and creating the biju, made a link between herself and one of the tailed beasts to turn them to her side. She would likely start the manipulation after Indra's betrayal and the rise of ninjustu. i think some things would have changed. To start with, naruto would be busted in this continuation, he would be trained by both minato and kushina and he could have a mix of the skills from each of them at his disposal had his parents lived, he would also be leagues stronger by the time he graduates academy but strangely, in the story you made both itachi and sasuke would be a little weaker, that is because the situation for the uchiha would be easier and konoha would be in more of a peaceful state than in the original, that is because they would have both the 9 and 3 tails at their disposal and lots of strong shinobi to protect them, i don't think any of the other vilages would dare to tr and mess with konoha. Minato on the other hand has already seen shit during the war and would have made lots of enemies, so he would train his son to be able to protect himself. instead of sasuke which would be a close friend to naruto, there is a possibility that the uchiha in their team would be a possible child of obito and rin, also, i don't think kakashi would spend so much time tutoring his students mid chunin exams, both naruto and sasuke would still have their families to train them, itachi would still be one of the best shinobis on the vilage (i just don't think he and maybe even shisui would awaken their mangekyou by this point). Naruto would betaught the rasengan by his father himself and he would have even more techniques and would probably have some of his speed due to training and even have more strategic thinking because of his father, i don't think that naruto would lose to neji, sasuke could have been defeated by gaara in the exams but both of thiose fights would not even mean anything as wining dosn't mean you will be selected as chunin anyway. Naruto if he was better at strategy and had more jutsus from his parents, could have get a promotion right there, just as sasuke could have got one. Minato is great at fuinjutsu, that and him being in his prime would mean that the revived kages from orochimaru would not stay for that long in the living world a Also, gaara wouldn't be able to escape, there would be lots of uuchihas in there to guard the event, doubt they would fall for temple of nirvana and they would defeat shukako by puting him in a genjutsu and afer that, gaara turns into a lead village prisioner or he is convinced to stay at theirs side . There is no way orochimaru would go with the same plan, in those scenarios he loses 11 out of 10 tries

Kakashi should be able to use the chidori justu in sage mode probably a little bit differently from when he had the sharingan because sage mode allows for sensory type powers so it should minimize the tunnel vision, it is no sharingan but it can help

What if: Sasuke actually died due to Haku needles somehow and gave Naruto his Sharingan to kill Itachi for him?
