It's kinda confusing... Was Luke trained for Stormtrooper duty? Pilot? Fleet officer? Those were all different career paths (not to mention Army trooper / officer, Penitentiary, Intelligence, ISB etc.). Why did Tarkin pick up a random Stormtrooper, even a proficient one, for TIE pilot duty? Stormtroopers could pilot vehicles if needed, being kinda like all-purpose marines, but piloting wasn't their profile, why would he just sent to pilot with Vader, instead of capable, established pilots? Oh, and Luke would have used his code/number in the military, at least until he reached officer ranks. So, if he was a Stormtrooper / recruit TIE-pilot, he'd introduce himself as TK-977 or something, not Skywalker.
