What If MIDNA RETURNED? (The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess)

In today's zelda what if/theory/game theory video we are going to look at the origin, secrets, timeline, story, lore, mysteries and history of Midna the twilight princess from the twilight realm that helps out link and zelda defeat zant and ganondorf and save hyrule and the twilight realm. She was first seen in the legend of zelda twilight princess for the nintendo wii and gamecube. Throughout the years she has been seen or referenced in other games like Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, hyrule warriors and even the new legend of zelda breath of the wild for the nintendo switch she is referenced in the form of the fused shadow. However what would happen if she returned in any future games? Is this even possible and what could be her reason to come back into the series? Could it be an attack of a powerful mask named the fused shadow just like in the legend of zelda majora's mask or ganondorf who becomes too powerful like in the legend of zelda ocarina of time or the legend of zelda skyward sword and wind waker. Well let's find out!

@@kendal0605 thats a common plot point for a "tragic love" story. A romance that fate defies. A love made forbidden by the gods themselves. We've already seen that kind of thing in past titles. In the ocarina of time, saria was in love with him, but she knew it wouldn't happen. She would have lived forever after link had died of old age. Not to mention that she new she would be either killed or bound as a sage forever. I personally headcanon that midna loves link, but I know that won't happen. Link and Zelda are bound together by fate. (Or if you want to be technical, Demise.)

Okay but 2 things. 1. Will Midna return to her adorable impform?(Personally found more expression in that one) 2. Do NOT let it be a reincarnated Link. Let it be the same one. Not older.(Okay, maybe by a few months or two years maximum) Why? Because it would cut off the bond they had in Twilight princess and likely leave Midna with more tears. The game might be dark but dont let it be THAT dark.

I cannot think of a good plot reason as to why Midna would ever become an Imp again. But I think it would be necessary in order to have her BE the same character we loved in Twilight Princess. And be part of the story of the sequel as much as she was in the original game, and receive as much development as she did. I mean... What are they going to do? I'll take either one. Love them both! Although I picture Twili Midna having a much kinder heart than she normally is, I am sure you feel the exact same way. Kinda wished they had a couple 'Midna' quotes from her that REALLY lets you know its the same person. I mean, I can still picture her personality with the Twili form. I kinda thought of some plot reasons why she'd be an Imp again: Wear the fused shadow after a repair for the ability to levitate, create a giant hand out of her hair, ride Wolf Links back again out of boredom (Can honestly see her do that).

I think the true power of the Triforce has been long forgotten in the Child Timeline. If Breath of the Wild does take place in the child timeline, that supports the forgotten triforce theory. In Twilight Princess, It is never once mentioned by name (same with BotW, but that's a bit irrelevant for this topic). Triforce of Courage: Mark of the Hero, it gives Link the ability to become a Wolf when in contact with shadow magic. Triforce of Wisdom: Allows anybody who wields it to maintain their physical form in either world. Zelda doesn't know exactly what it is, so she gave it to Midna to save her life. Triforce of Power: Unseen by anybody except Ganondorf and the Sages of the Mirrror. Ganondorf knew what the Triforce was. And I believe the Gods and other powerful entities such as the Sages and Light spirits let them forget the Triforce, to end the wars fought over it. While maintaining the balance in Hyrule so it didn't have to be destroyed like in Lorule.

Termina is an actual parallel dimension, not a dream one. As for Midna coming back, she has options. Hyrule and the twilight realm are natualy close and connected to each during the hours of twilight, dawn and dusk. She can also just make a new twilight mirror, she has the power to do so.

Unfortunately, Nintendo confirmed that Termina was just a construct pocket dimension that Majora created. The only real people in Termina were Link, Skull Kid, and the Happy Mask Salesman.

Just as another piece of evidence to the potential of traveling between the dimensions, note that link was sent to an astral realm to collect tears in Skyward sword. And jumping to the end of the timeline, if the sheika technology advanced far enough, it could reverse engineer the portals, powers, or even master sword abilities to manipulate reality. Maybe another instance of using time travel to learn the secrets of the different devices. Likely during periods where they are fully abandoned. I dont know much about A Link Between Worlds, but the device used there could help too.

And there is a location in BotW labeled as "Arbiter's Grounds" but it's just the very topmost portion of the ruins poking up out of the desert sand, not even recognizable without the text on the screen naming it.

WAIT A SECOND in breath of the wild the heat says it is the one midna wore and it has gardion resistance indicateing some sort of magic in it and the mirror of twilight in breath of the wild is on a beach but in twilight princess it's in the desert and during the night the mirror glows so this couldn't be a fake because It has magic powers so Knowing that the mirrors parts keep their power when broken the fact that breath of the wild is the last game in the timeline the fact that the mirror moved and the fact a fixed/working replica of midnas mask is in the game all be it suverely weakened and the fact that we know twilight magic keeps some powers is it possible that in a future game we use the mirror which no longer can move between world's to "call" for help fixing the mask to help in the future game.

it's actually pretty simple, sorta, just use the triforce for its intended purpose for once, it can grant wishes like the dragon balls, soooo, just gather the 3 parts, link and zelda have theirs, and that timeline's ganondorf is dead at the end of TP, so I'm assuming zelda has the triforce of power with her or locked up somewhere... Just wish for a permanent bridge between those worlds be opened, and BAM! a new country for all to see... assuming they dont have too many race relation issues, but whatever, I dont want to think about politics in video games. Assume everyone is chill and they all get along without drama.

marinus18 True, it may degrade her. I’m glad she was put in Hyrule Warriors, she got a second appearance that a lot of people were looking for. I also agree with you that wolf Link should be put in SSB. I don’t know if I’d want her in another actual Zelda game, (like I said in my original comment, I changed my mind), but if they keep making side games like Hyrule Warriors, I feel like that including her in there would be great.

That pun was not intentional. That is actually the type of game I would like to see. I actually wrote a much more elaborate post on an HMK video about Gannondorf's eventual return. The LBW mechanism could be used between many different worlds. Hyrule/Twilight, Hyrule/Termina, or the two lands within the Oracle games and I would eat them all up. I just wish I could get paid to develop these games, but I lack the training and artistic talent. Thank you for pointing out a bad pun. I'd apologize if I had realized the intention, but it didn't dawn on me.

Not to mention Wikipedia describes Termina as an alternate world that shares many similarities to Hyrule. I know that Wikipedia may not be the best source of info, but it is often reliable to a certain degree.

Because I'm looking at Hyrule Historia pgs. 110-111 "It just so happened that this forest led to a parallel world known as Termina." and then the header at the top of the next page says "Turmoil in the parallel world of Termina". What's this about Termina being a dream?

Hadn't heard of "Hyrule Encyclopedia" (so it's some sort of fanfic cheap knockoff of the Historia book or something? (looking it up... huh? same publisher as Historia and Arts & Artifacts... and doesn't come out until April next year??? ummm...)) and thought this and a couple other comments mentioning it were just saying the wrong thing while thinking of Hyrule Historia.

Hyrule Historia was co-product with Nintendo but ... Hyrule Encyclopedia wasn't ... That was confirmed that the authors take a lot of liberty in the story part. Aonuma confirm that Termina is a parallel world in a recent interview for MM 3D.

I suspect Midna will appear in the main series again. Midna is easily their most popular one off character, and outside of the main reoccuring trio (Link, Zelda & Ganondorf) she is likely the most popular character in the franchise, over even characters like Impa or Vaati. Nintendo would be crazy not to feature her in another game. Maybe not a sequel to Twilight, but somehow, some way.
