"Hook, line and sinker." People seeming to pull manipulative bullshit akin to that on people, whenever they don't get their way, is an incredibly good reason why you completely push all of your emotions down and ignore them being sad after you decide to reject their request. Because you never truly know if they are only "playing" at being sad in a last ditch attempt to try and manipulate you into doing what they want, or if your refusal genuinely did make them sad. Reasons like this is exactly why empathy, sympathy, kindness and guilt/remorse can all be such a huge Achilles Heel/weakness to people and why they should be completely left out to the best of your ability whenever you find yourself in such a situation for the duration of the interaction. Otherwise people WILL potentially try to use those emotions/traits against you so they can manipulate you, twist your arm and finally get you to agree to whatever they want, and you WILL end up potentially being screwed over.
