What went through my head was what if darth maul informed Palpatine of anakin's uniqueness, as even though he doesn't know about the midi chlorine count or how he was born, he could more than likely sense that he has potential and is much different than anything else he or palpatine have discovered before. Maybe maul would seek out and capture anakin on his own and raise a secret apprentice, or palpatine would do the same and train anakin from a child to the dark ways of the force and have him cut down maul as a right of passage.... HMMMM... I hope Stupendous considers these things :D

In Episode 3, the Pauans consult Obi Wan and ask for his help when he infiltrated Utapau. They knew (not in the Clone Wars animated series, that was early, like right after episode 1 and 2), but were afraid of Dooku's retaliation. He basically made examples of traitors and basically controlled the droid armies with Grievous and Asajj, who could activate and deactivate droids at will with a command code.

The Trade Federation joins the Republic against the CIS, the CIS gets rekt at Geonosis, the Clone Wars don't happen because the Trade Federation pretended to be part of the Separatists but turned on the other rebel groups and dealt out massive casualties, thusly the Republic wins this. Then Revenge of the sith happens way faster, but Pong Krell, Luminara's apprentice, and other traitor Jedi don't betray the order, then Palpatine gets killed because Windu and Yoda ganged up on him.

The only disagreement I have here is that the Skywalker twins would likely not be raised together. In RotJ Obi-Wan says that the children were hidden from their father, but at the end of RotS there is no indication that Obi-Wan or Yoda are aware that Anakin survived. In Legends, Obi-Wan only found out much later that Darth Vader survived their duel on Mustafar, and panicked him to the point that he almost took Luke away from the planet. It's therefore sensible that the children were split up to protect them from the Emperor more than Vader, and Obi-Wan would enter his exile on Tatooine as he did in canon.

Luke and Leia were not split because of Vader. They were split because of the Emperor. Obi Wan did not realize that Vader had survived until much later. He was already on Tatooine and had already given Luke to the Larses and Leia was already with the Organas. Obi Wan said to Luke, "To protect you from the emperor you were hidden after you were born." If the emperor knew Vader had living children he would have stopped at NOTHING to get them, knowing they would be very powerful, as Vader's replacement.

I think the Emperor would have recruited Mary Jade as she was the "hand of the empire," working in the shadows (in the years after Return of the Jedi). It was Luke changed her to the light side and married her.... maybe they would not have been married. *This is taking place 5 years after Return of the Jedi- during the "Dark Empire."

but you didn't consider how he would control his empire, Darth Vader was killing the jedi, because palpatine needed to manage his empire, without Vader his empire wouldn't move that much, and it would be a mess of confusion, here's my version: after anakin died, palpatine decided to kill the jedi himself, which caught the jedi off guard making them perish quickly, but his empire was vonerable, and the jedi knew it, Yoda called obi wan and whoever else he could find that would help, Yoda told obi wan that he and yoda would have to confront palpatine, and the others would be waiting, Incase palpatine was winning, when palpatine showed up, palpatine said, "Yoda, I have foreseen you here, but I sense there is another." obi wan came out of the shadows, palpatine said,"ah yes, obi wan, the one who killed Darth Vader... the one who KILLED HIS OWN PADAWAN, oh but to you he was so MUCH MORE!" obi wan was struck with anger, obi wan swung at the emperor with a cry of anger and sadness, the empire leaped backwards, caught off guard, but then palpatine thought, I NEED AN APPRENTICE, BUT HE WOULD BE HARD TO CURRUPT! palpatine said,"yes, feel your hatred, let it consume you let it beco-" "NOoooOoo!!!!" obi wan lunged at palpatine landing a bunch of blows, but then from behind, a bunch of clones came rushing in guns a blazing, the backup team came out shooting back, the emperor managed to get back from obi wan, slicing at obi wan, but before he could kill obi wan, Yoda jumped in blocking the attack, obi wan finally got a grip on himself and calmed down, Yoda jumped over, and under, and around the emperor, slicing, flipping, and blocking while obi wan helped take out the clones, but obi wan decided to help Yoda again, the troops on both sides were rushing back and forth while shooting rapidly the whole time, Yoda and obi wan, finally started landing blows, then... the emperor fell, dieing, "I haven't foreseen this, this... chaos! it can't be! Raaghh!! he sliced at obi wans feet cutting his right foot off, Yoda sliced palpatine in half, finally, it was over, he helped kill the rest of the clones there, after he did, the remaining troops helped carry obi wan to the ship, when they got to the hospital, obi wan's foot had been replaced with a robotic leg from the knee down. the empire crumbled, splitting in to many small groups, allowing for the good guys small group to come out on top, getting bigger, eventually gaining power over all others.(the reason for yoda's group being better than other imperial groups is because yoda's group has more order, and two of the most powerful and wise jedi, while the other's were chaotic and consists of backstabbers and angry, rash people, while some other imperial groups would be smart and gain alot of power, they could never overtake the new republic.). it was finally over, and the new republic would never fall again, some more jedi started to return, including Ashoka tano. Luke and Leia both were trained in the ways of the force personally by obi wan and Yoda, making Luke and Leia very powerful and WISE jedi, finally peace was restored. Ashoka was going to leave again, because she felt it would never be the same without anakin, but obi wan told her that he knew how she felt and told her that the anakin that he killed wasn't the anakin they knew, and that the anakin they knew was still with them in their hearts, he finally convinced her to stay, things finally got better, Luke, Leia, and Ashoka helped to teach other force sensitive beings, obi wan and Yoda both lead the new republic, eventually they grew so well that almost all other factions just stopped trying to overtake the new republic, and just excepted the new republic because the new republic was just way to far ahead of all others. all the different jedi in the new republic knew each other, and the new republic finally brought peace to almost all of the galaxy, bringing peace to 93% of the galaxy. they had finally, truly won.

I like to think the real reason Obi-Wan spared Anakin was not out of some misplaced compassion. Just as he was about to execute the man who was once his closest friend, the Force granted him a vision of the future: Anakin clad in black armor, hurling Palpatine into a reactor shaft, to his death. Obi-Wan realized that Anakin was still the chosen one. Only he could defeat the Emperor. Not Obi-Wan, not the other surviving Jedi, not even Yoda. Only Anakin. Horrified and disgusted at letting a youngling-killer go free, Obi-Wan walked away.

the emperor would never have found luke or leia . in a novelization i read once it stated that luke and leia both were a blind spot in the force to the emperor much the way the jedi council had been blind to the emperor. he was totally relying on vader to bring him luke.

I think Yoda would kill Palpatine no matter what, not out of anger or hatred, but out of logic. "Destroy the Sith we must." He didn't say that with the intentions of letting either Vader or Sidious live. Besides, Sidious was far too powerful to be arrested. That's just me though.

I absolutely LOVE those what if! Great work, bravo! I'm not sure the Empire would be as flourishing if Palpatine had to hunt down Jedis, though. If the Empire becomes what it is, in episode 4 (with dark vador, yes, but also grand inquisitor, death star, etc, etc...), it must be the "best Empire" Palpatine could achieve, working his arse off all this time. So, without Vador, everything would be a lot delayed, if Palpatine had to fill up for it, or use another pawn like Grand Inquisitor to do so. Every effort & time used, from anyone, to fill Vador's shoes (big or not), would be at the high cost of other plans cancelled. That said, having the Death Star delayed enough for Alderan to survive is already a neat outcome. But I would lean more towards a story where a lot more Jedis roam free and unhurt. Meaning a much stronger and threatening Rebellion, probably. (But I like the "get Maul's back" idea. Sounds very logical and powerful)

I like the story, but everything Palatine did was thought out very well. He would have had a back up to Vader from the start. Likely the Grand Inquisitor or Darth Maul. That being said, I agree with the ending as I don't think Palpatine could have taken on both Obi-Wan and Yoda. Which brings up the question. why didn't the two of them team up on Palpatine from the start, and then deal with Vader afterwards.
