I would argue you wouldn't have nearly as much prejudice in hiring practices. Rand was openly against racism bc of the fact that she saw it as the most evil form of collectivism. Thus, decades of objectivist thinking permeating through society would also lead people to believe this kind of prejudice to be wrong, as well.

However, the biggest change would be from the abolition of affirmative action and welfare. The black population in the US was on its way to either catching up to or surpassing the white population in terms of wealth before affirmative action and welfare set up a system that incentivizes poor choices.

Maybe you might find someone who chose to pursue the medical knowledge that could help you, but good luck affording whatever astronomical sum they're going to charge you. Don't count on your private insurance to get you off the hook cheap, they're under no obligation to help you, they'll fight you tooth and nail to pay out as little as possible on your behalf. Objectivism if adopted on a wife scale will quickly devolve into a plutocratic mafia state. If armed thugs break into your home and steal your shit, nobodyis going to help you. To me, rather than the opposition of the downtrodden, the bigger challenge to Objectivism would be primate dominance hierarchies. That in practice it is very hard to distinguish talented, hardworking, intelligent leaders from bullshitting, exploitative, manipulative would-be rulers. Since the prior situation is complicated, in the migration to the Objectivist utopia, there would be many situations where it would not be clear how to proceed forward. So rather than necessarily evolving towards this free market utopia, it would be quite easy to just progress towards a new feudalism. Sort of like our current situation.

Excellent video. Only mistake, in my opinion, is how you say the lower strata of society would be extremely poor: i don't think that would be the case. In objectivism, the biggest accomplishment one can achieve is to succeed in their personal goals. Everyone is free to try everything, meaning that the people that dreams to help others can do it without any intervention. Charity has always been a thing, from religious to secular charities, so a wealthier country will create organizations of people willing ti help others.

I think the default human position on discrimination is to not discriminate at all and see people as individuals. I remember googling about racism as a kid, trying to figure out why it was a thing. I just couldn't buy that it was due to being different in a meaningless way. Having freedom to think and act for yourself would slowly allow people to naturally come to this viewpoint while having a million government interventions based on race, sex, age, religion etc. just makes us more aware of these things when we shouldn't be aware of them AT ALL. Like if you pass anti discrimination laws and quotas for gingers, imagine what would happen in a few generations? Ginger would be a group with its own identity and "perspective".

I'm a Raleagan fan and a capitalist but even I think this is a weeee overly-optimistic. Upward mobility would grind to a halt as most successful people share patronage and opportunities only with preferred friends and family. State and local governments would become a dog's breakfast of disjointed legal systems. Violent crime and substance abuse would become endemic to those who lacked profitable interests. I foresee an Objectivist America as a kind of industrialized Afghanistan.

Is it odd that when I tried reading Ayn Rand in... I think, middle school, the stuff just didn't do anything for me, yet later, reading some of Ditko's attempts to explain his thoughts/personal version(?) Of Objectivism in works like "The Avenging World", it made more of an impression? Maybe the difference in age had something to do with it, I wouldn't doubt it, in fact. And, maybe not the philosophy for me in its purist form either way, but I enjoyed Steve Ditko delving into it more overall.

Objectivism has yet to succeed, the ideas that encompass Objectivism are becoming very popular & in the last few years we’ve seen ideologies that use objectivist ideas gain a lot of ground. Ayn Rand herself even wanted it to be gradual so it would be more deeply engrained in the minds & hearts of the people that were supposed to accept it, & it’s still moving people & society towards a more objectivist world.

I don't think that recognizing the egoistic nature of mankind brings to a refusal of social politics. Taking care of the society will bring direct advantages to you, thus satisfying your egoistic nature. Who would want to live in an extremely unqeual and chaotic world? Who would feel unmoved looking at people's sufferings? Extreme capitalism and individualism are NOT the implications of objectivism.
