Something to mention is the fact that Watt is not an exclusive species to Paper Mario, she's a Lil Sparky which do show up in the main series (first appearance being Super Mario World and then they were brought back in Wonder). There is also a larger variant known as Hotheads (which also show up as an item in smash.)

Here's a bit of a wacky idea for a partner I had: Mawria, a Maw Maw (y'know, those guys from Mario Wonder) who's a bit of a globetrotting buff. Personality wise, she'd be kinda similar to Jen from Total Drama Ridiculous Race: super peppy and excitable, fast-talking whenever she's excited, which is almost all of the time, and very much nice towards everyone (excluding particularly vile villains obviously). As for her appearance, she would have a more tan color compared to the usual orange color of her fellow Maw Maws. She would also wear a pair of sunglasses on her forehead, a necklace made out of flowers, a nice pink dress with white polka dots, and a pair of pink flip flops. As for her battle attacks, I was thinking of the following: Her base attack would be something similar to Sushie's Belly Flop or Flurrie's Body Slam, namely tossing herself at the enemies. No Flower Points would be needed. The next attack would involve her eating an enemy and shooting it at the enemy right behind it, similar to Yoshi's Gulp. It would cost something like 2-3 Flower Points to use. Her Super Rank attack would involve her striking a battle stance. At first it may sound boring asf, but what she'll do next will make you change your mind: in a similar fashion to Admiral Bobbery's Hold Fast, she will damage all enemies that physically attack her, by eating them, obviously. However, there's the added bonus that she will also eat projectiles that are shot at her. Also like Hold Fast, her attack would last 1 turn by default but can last up to a maximum of 4 turns with every successful input. At the end of the turn(s), she will spit any and all enemies/projectiles for half the damage they dealt. It would cost somewhere between 4-6 FPs to use. Finally, her Ultra Rank attack involves her eating Mario (albeit harmlessly), which will protect him from enemy attacks in a variation of Lady Bow's Outta Sight, Vivian's Veil and Flurrie's Dodgy Fog. Of course, since Mawria is only protecting Mario in this case, she would still get hurt from enemy attacks, meaning she can still get KO'd while protecting Mario. This attack would probably cost less FP than her Super Rank attack but more than her second base attack, so something between 3-4 FPs. Finally, her overworld ability would have her charging forward, mouth agape, eating any enemies or objects along the way. Eating an object will have her run back to Mario and give it to him, while eating an enemy will count as a First Strike in her favor. (SHEEEEEESH, I did NOT mean for the comment to be *that* long lol)

My brother and I were making up an idea for a TTYD sequel in which Wart is the main antagonist, and the goomba ally is specifically one of the spiked helmet wearing Goombas that tend to show up early in the game to teach you to use the hammer. His name was Goombenegger, and he had a thick Austrian accent - also he was the FINAL ally instead of the first (and you'd find some random Tattle entries already filled out when he joins, including all the bosses you can't refight). "HE WAS WEAK GIRLY MAN, ALSO WEAK TO FIRE ELEMENT."

I liked how you made an entire game based around just the partners! Me myself, i have tried this, and it was based around different crafts (Note that this was made around Origami King came out). The Partners wern't as thought-out as this (Which i LOVE that you are doing more than just Poke'mon), but the basic Premis was that 2 hands came from the sky (Imagine Master and Crazy Hand), and the turned everyone of the world different crafts. Some turned to Toys, while some turned to Origami. The game was supposed to be called "Crafty Chaos", but it never saw the light... The Partners were supposed to be based on crafts as well, with a Origami-Version Goombella from the Original game as your tattle Partner. a Boo was planned in this Hypothetical game, and he was going to be a ballon. a Toy Shy-Guy from the Mini-Mario Series was there, as well as a callback to Yoshi's Woolly World with all the yoshi's being turned to stiched puppets. i can't remember all the aspects, but yeah! overall, great video, please, PLEASE do more!

4:16 Watt is not a species exclusive to the Paper Mario series as he is a Lil Sparky which were first introduced in Super Mario World. Ms. Mowz is based on the Little Mouser enemies introduced in Yoshi's Island which were in turn inspired by the Mouser boss from Super Mario Bros. 2. The cool thing about Paper Mario before the dark times was that there was a lot of care and attention to detail referencing every little aspect of the Mario series to make this world feel alive and make sense.

I like to imagine Bro Beatdown as Hammet hitting the fire, ice, and bombs with his club, with the timing portion being like a virtual golf game, where you decide the angle and power of a shot (with both moving automatically, and you just hit the button at the setting you want), and if it hits the ground rather than an enemy, it ends the attack then (so an excellent would be hitting every shot)

I’d imagine that Goombro would play on the tattle partner even more. For his tattle, he doesn’t even pull out a book. That doesn’t fit with his more dude-bro personality. Instead, he would know about his enemies through street smarts rather than the typical book smarts, which in this case basically means telling you about the enemies from his word of mouth and personal experience. I mean, look at him. He’s probably got into some fights and won.

PJ the DJ's also a really fun concept, but I think you could've made her design more unqiue, like giving her more clothes or making her colors based off of Raving Piranha Plants from Electrodrome in Mario Kart 8! The all-original partners are super-cool as well, but I do want to make a correction and let it be known that there are no OC partners: Watt's a Lil' Sparky (Super Mario World), Ms. Mowz is a Little Mouser (Yoshi's Island), Madame Flurrie's either a Ruff Puff (Paper Mario) or Fwoosh (Super Mario 64), and Vivian's a Shadow (Super Mario RPG)! If I could give suggestions to what Mario species they'd be instead, Vinessa could be changed to a Snapdragon (Super Mario RPG), while Shellie could become a Noki (Super Mario Sunshine)!

The only original enemy type that becomes a partner is Vivian. Ms. Mowz is a mouser. More specifically, it's based on the little mousers that steal eggs in Yoshi's Island. Flurrie is a wind spirit. These originated in Mario Sunshine but haven't reappeared. The closest we have is Ty-Foo.

3:40 I'm imagining that in terms of how the move would actually play out, "Bro Beatdown" would work by holding the control stick to the right as a cursor slides from mario and hammet towards the enemies and then releasing it when the cursor is on an enemy as he uses his club to smack 6 golf balls, two fire, 2 ice and 2 bombs one after the other at any enemy of your choosing the fire and ice balls would do less immediate damage than the bomb golf ball but would have the added benefit of inflicting their respective statuses on the enemy the ball hits

Very cool ideas! This reminds me.. I once had an idea for some partners that were based only on enemies from Super Mario World! A Galoomba, a Ninji, a Chargin' Chuck, a Rex, a Fishing Boo, and either a Blurp or a Rip Van Fish if I recall!

Id be interested to see a follow up on the video regarding each of the locations, their boss fights, and how they tie in with the collectables of the story. Since, if we ignore sticker star, the area you go too usually has a thematic connection to either the collectable or the partner.

I actually have an idea for a secret ability Jinni could have. So, basically, this happens in battle, and it happens when she dies, in which she’ll drop a drawing (because I like to think she draws), and her drawing comes to life, acting as a ally until it dies, but this could only happen once (so, if she’s revived, and she dies again, she doesn’t drop a drawing). I think this could be a fun secret mechanic.

One thing i wish they did in thousand year door is have it that all partners were present during important cutscenes, this could allow for a bunch of cool and funny interactions between partners. 😊

What if in some future Paper Mario game your first partner is one of those talking flowers form Super Mario Wonder. It could be a nice surprise to get some new or obscure character and it could be a funny character, either talking too much about certain things or barely talking at all because it's shy or smth
