Why does everyone see shavkat as a wrestler? 🤔 his ufc run has shown clinching, but that was to strike in close. In terms of takedowns, shavkat won’t be going for any power doubles. This is a striker with great combat skills in all areas. Definitely not a wrestler. Shavkat by TKO to strikes

Shavkat is not striker and he is not a wrestler, his A game is grappling his goal is usually grappling, in fact the best aspect of his game is his ground game, he has very good submissions, very good pressure from the top and some of the nastiest ground and pound in the division. His striking is also amazing but he usually prefers to be grappling. You are right when you say that his wrestling is not very good, it's the weakest part of his game. Shavkat likes trips and throws from the clinch and he is pretty good at them but his more traditional wrestling techniques like single legs and double legs aren't really there. In short, Shavkat is not a striker that happens to be well rounded he is a grappler that happens to be well rounded it's just that his ability to take someone down is not quite at that elite level

Looking at Neals fight record and just going by the (named) fighters he beat Belal Muhammad (current champ) Rafael dos angos, ( former 155 champ) Santiago ponzinibbio Vincent lique Mike Perry ( king of violence) I would say the answer is yes. He's good at striking. Which would then rationally put both shavkat and Garry , (who both beat Neal) on the standards of elite 170 pound UFC fighters.

I can’t believe this wasn’t mentioned. Chael brought up Shavkat fighting wonder boy as an illustration to Shavkats striking capability, BUT WHAT ABOUT MICHAEL VENOM PAGE. Did everyone just forget about him? I’m not saying Garry outstruck him, but he did survive him, like Shavkat did with Wonderboy. Both fighters leaned on their strengths to win. Interestingly, both fighters, when confronted with an alleged superior striker, leaned on their wrestling to win the fight.

Whatever MVP is or was he's not UFC 170 pound elite. Wonderboy completely is elite and has elite striking over MVP. Mvp could barely beat Kevin Holland (who is enhancement talent ) and got schooled by Garry (who is elite)
