Yeah that one detail makes the timeline very weird cause I know the Mandarin is thousands of years old but it looks like its set after 800 or 900 ad which was where he lost his eye in the fight against the frost giants( I don't know why they changed it but lol) so either this is before that or Lokis dad got killed and Thor was never born either , cause we don't see them or shang chi in the final shot in the present at the end

The tell that Strange was lying was when he said, “cross my heart.” He doesn’t have one to cross anymore. It reminded me of Nebula knowing that Nova Prime had broken her oath when she said, “by any means necessary.”

i think the change in hela is quite realistic. if you're the goddess of death and were raised by odin, who loves war, then you are probably going to end up "evil." but it makes so much sense that hela would adjust her values if she got another perspective. she had been controlled and used all her life and once she realizes that its a pretty simple switch

I love that Ep 7 gave more shine to some great villains that were killed off in their first outing. Plus, it harkens back to the opening narration of Shang Chi, where they say Wenwu "could have used them for good", so that the ep was just as much about his alternate character path. =D

Why 1602? Because comics. An eight issue limited series - Marvel 1602 (or just 1602) written by Neil Gaiman that featured the superheroes as if they were born in the Elizabethan era - resulting 3 spin offs (1602:New World, Marvel 1602: Fantastick Four and Spider-Man 1602) and a few one off stories. The story is similar - recasting the Marvels as 1602 counter parts - but not the same. Gaiman cast his characters from no later than 1969 (so no Wolverine, no Deadpool,...). The significance of the date - Queen Elizabeth I died in 1603 - in this story Count Otto von Doom (Doctor Doom) kills her a year earlier (hence Queen Hela's removal from this episode). The throne is then taken by James I (IV of Scotland) a year earlier (in this case Thor). Several familiar faces show up - Dr. Stephen Strange is the Queen's physician as well as magician and alchemist (probably a parallel to John Dee, the royal astrologer) - Sir Nicholas Fury - the Queen's intelligencer.< Peter Parquagh* - also known as the Spider, Rojhaz - a blonde, blue-eyed Native American sho is actually from a dystopian future (who's accidental time travelling event created this parallel timeline - later officially christened Earth-313), Carlos Javier headmaster of the College for the Sons of Gentlefolk (actually a haven for the witchbreed - one of his students is "John" Grey - actually a young woman with psychic powers) - Enrique (Magneto) - Grand Inquisitor of the Spanish Inquisition and secretly the leader of the Brotherhood of Those Who Will Inherit the Earth (witchbreed). The Four from the Fantastick - explorers who gained super powers when their ship (The Fantastick) encountered a strange vortex at sea - becoming embodiments of the four elements (earth, air, fire and water). And the list goes on. This episode even gave a nod to the original story - the ruler of the dystopian future is the Purple Man - a different character than the purple man we're more familiar with (Thanos). The Purple Man has ordered the execution of Rojhaz (Steve Rogers) but the technology used malfunctions sending Rojhaz into the past creating a parallel timeline - eventually christened Earth 311. Uatu, the Watcher explains this event to Dr. Stephen Strange in a vision. So you can see how they adapted the story to match the current state of the MCU - for instance: no Peggy Carter in Gaiman's story. * I suppose this was necessary to semi-disguise the character before the reveal. Parker is a perfectly good English name - for instance, Jane Parker - wife of Anne Boleyn's brother George.

Season One was stronger because it played into the movies, which have a much larger audience than the comics. I still enjoyed season two, especially the Christmas/Die Hard episode with Happy. Favreau had a lot of fun with this season.

Odin was never a hero he was a tyrant who chose to become a benevolent ruler but if you go back to the Thor movies Odin wasn't the main villain but he was a antagonist. In the 1602 episode Thor could not save hela because he can't fly without the hammer which thor gave to Loki in this fractured alternate reality. Also they never said the Infinity Stones would not work in other universities if only they wouldn't work in the TVA due to the magic dabbing protocol built into the place. The infinity stone work in other universes but not to full capacity as if they were in their own universe.
