This makes me realize there are lots of events that happen during S3K's gameplay. Knuckles detransforms Super Sonic and steals the emeralds, The main part of the Angel Island is burned, Knuckles destroys two bridges, Robotnik fucks up most of Marble Garden Zone with his drill, Knuckles turns off the electricity in Carnival Night Zone, Knuckles throws a bomb inside a building in Launch Base Zone, Sonic and Tails make the Death Egg fall into Lava Reef Zone. Knuckles sends Sonic and Tails away for a bit in Mushroom Hill Zone. Robotnik destroys his Flying Battery. Knuckles throws a big rock which causes Sonic to fall down near the Death Egg. Robotnik stuns Knuckles and steals the Master Emerald. Knuckles helps Sonic and Tails reach Sky Sanctuary. Mecha Sonic fights Sonic by using previous machines and later he destroys a teleporter. And the rest is just pretty obvious from a story standpoint but damn,I now realize that Sonic 3&K has the most storytelling out of all of the Classic Sonic games (and im not gonna count mania) except CD because CD has cutscenes like actual hand drawn cutscenes and a OST that fits like a glove.

Fun fact: You can actually defeat Eggman in the original game, but you need to deal him more than 200 hits for that to happen. If I am not mistaken, Eggman disappears and the game softlocks.

My false memory is that in Sonic 1 after beating Eggman in Green Hill Sonic went to the signpost, which isn't how the game works as we know but I kinda wish it was like that: Sonic, after defeating Eggman, shows who is boss by changing the signpost of the places he had claimed to be of him.

Well when i was messing around with debug mode in normal sonic 3&k i somehow glitched the cutscene when robotnik was holding the emerald and after knux got zapped nothing was happening (after 256 hits robotnik exploded and a flicky happily gone it's way out of him)

its a glitch but since you use debug mode knuckles disappears and the game softlocks and it takes a while to take hits and eggman loses but its still softlocked (caught this in sonic 3 air)

In case you still are curious, the music that plays on the No Way screen (the Blue Sphere title screen) is unironically the Continue theme after running out of lives in either Sonic 3 & Knuckles (it was faster paced in Sonic 3 alone) or Sonic 3D Blast. Which makes the mod instantly making S3AIR jump to the Blue Sphere minigame title screen upon Eggman flying away defeated in HPZ all the more funnier in retrospect.
