Even if Dutch never robbed Cornwall, I feel after Blackwater the gang was still doomed, plus Micah would still betray the gang.
@tylerwisner86825 ай бұрын
Very true, but given the implication that Cornwall pumped money into the Pinkertons which scaled up the bounty on everyone important in the gang. If Dutch didn't rob Cornwall there's a good chance that the gang might've had an easier time, Maybe. It also didn't help that none of the Gang (Dutch included) really kept to the idea of lying low as iterant workers at Horseshoe Overlook.

I Agree. The Old West was dying out, Micah had come into the gangs, all the old robber gangs were being hunted down and extinguished as cochroaches. Plus old Dutch had started losing his mind more and more, in the end losing his entire family either because they died or because they lost their faith in his goddamn plans

@@tylerwisner8682 That would have meant getting honest work in the area (possibly at the Cornwall factory) and that would have made for a pretty boring game.
@tylerwisner8682Ай бұрын
@@joecostantino3684 I mean there's plenty of honest legal enough work that could've been done by various members of the gang; Hunting, Fishing, Acting as Guards for either Cornwall, Stage Coach Drivers, or the Banks, farmhands, lumberjacks what have you. It wouldn't NEED to be boring since there's the explicit chance of danger being a foot and you'd repel gangs like the O'Driscoll's Lemoyne Raiders, etc. Not only that you could still at least bushwack the gangs at the same time as well since there'd be no real recourse to the van der Linde gang, since they're just robbing societally ostracized criminals.

What if Strawberry’s sheriff decided to hang Micah before Arthur could arrive to free him?
@musicalhistory43924 ай бұрын
More like, why didn’t Arthur let Micah sit in jail and lie to Dutch that there was a way to prevent it.
@joecostantino3684Ай бұрын
@@musicalhistory4392 Or just let Micah get killed in the ensuing chaos, I mean it was he afterall that decided to shoot up half the town over his precious guns. Arthur could simply tell Dutch that Micah lost his mind and tried to kill an entire town and died in the process of his own stupidity.
@musicalhistory4392Ай бұрын
@@joecostantino3684 I conceptually like it, but the game implies any scenario of one of them dies there would result in them both dying in the firefight. Arthur was a known conspirator the moment he broke Micah out of jail.
@joecostantino3684Ай бұрын
@@musicalhistory4392 right of course but that would only happen if Arthur didn't escape in which case he'd a been dead anyway and it's a mission fail. I'm saying he escapes Micah doesn't, he gets back to camp Dutch wonders where Micah is and Arthur tells him that he died in the firefight that he caused trying to get back his guns. Maybe later on Arthur has to sneak back in and collect Micah's body without being seen, this would make for a really good stealth mission where the player has to be sneaky and not alert any lawmen.

Nothing would have changed. The seeds of self-destruction in the gang were already sown.

Even if the gang didn't rob Cornwall they were still doomed to break up. Between Dutch's mental state, Micah's betrayal, and the times changing to where they couldn't operate the way they use to It would have just been a matter of time.

The only question would be how they would have broken up as a gang would it have been the same way it played out or would it have been different

the story would’ve changed a heavy bit, but would’ve had the same ending due to the fact that they were already bound to be hunter down by the pinkertons but be slower (due to not robbing cornwall), the heavy change in the story would be that the odriscolls would be hunted and become the main priority of the pinkertons which would ALSO wipe them out, had dutch never gone for the odriscoll camp then he would’ve unintentionally aided in destroying them while cornwall has less sights on dutch by the way what’s the intro music PLEASE tell me

*Honestly if they never robbed him the pinkertons would had gone after the O'Driscolls which would had led to Colm's death faster since they already caught him in chapter 6...which would had made Dutch and his Gang lives a little easier, then they could have robbed that Valentine Bank with no issue and use that same money to buy passage on a boat and go to Tahiti or New Work to retire from crime or pursuit opportunity elsewhere...*

I feel like everything that happened was written in stone and could not be changed, all because of RDR 1, because if the gang had been able to live easier then they wouldn't have disbanded at least not right away thus RDR 1 would have not have happened. Gotta love prequels.

What if Dutch and Micah took the place of Dave and Mac and died in blackwater. Also what if red dead redemption undead nightmare 2 happened.
@joecostantino3684Ай бұрын
@@phil.moloney2980 I think that scenario would have actually accelerated the downfall of the gang, I mean losing Dutch anyway. Number one rdr1 would have never happened as Dutch was one of the antagonists in that game. , and for two Hosea would have been the de facto leader of the gang going forward they may have done things a bit differently but who's to say Hosea wouldn't have led them into a bit of trouble too. Remember he wanted to head out west which means New Austin but he would have quickly realized that wasn't a possibility and they would have ended up in the same spot they were in with Dutch. Then Hosea dies either from getting shot as he did in the game or whatever he was sick with he succumbs to then there's an internal power struggle is rightfully at this point Arthur would be the leader. But he would almost immediately butt heads with Bill and possibly Javier. John would have supported him and likely been his number two which would a further pissed off Bill. I think eventually the gang would have split into two rival factions.
