Thought this what was really happening behind the scenes after eating a Senzu bean. Maybe this is actually an aspect of Elder Kai's Ultimate power boost technique. Elder Kai's imprints his ki so that Gohan would get God Ki without going SSJ God. What King Kai taught is a similar power boost but it damages the body but while Elder Kai doesn't damage to the body. It works well for Saiyans since it gives them a boost.

I’d imagine if it was a permanent boost you would have to remove the fact that it damages the user’s body. That or make this permanent version some sort of “Mastered Kaioken” that provides the boosts in power but doesn’t harm the user’s body.
