When you realize that Independent devs can produce more content than the actual paradox team

When you realize that they: A) had a headstart just converting most of the content from Darkest Hour to Hearts of Iron 4 B) have likely had some support from the devs in knowing what is being changed in updates, being the single most popular mod on steam workshop C) they don't have to create a combat, political (I mean the political mechanics), or economic system nor a completely new AI to D) they don't have to balance EVERYTHING, only the major countries and factions E) they can focus on story/focus trees rather than all the underlying systems that actually make the game work Don't get me wrong, the dev team for Kaiserreich works very hard and gets a lot done. But don't every forget that they're working off of a foundation that's already been laid. Without the work of the paradox team, we'd still be playing Darkest Hour, and it would get updated maybe a 1/4 as often as the HoI4 mod. The biggest change they made was to the PP system, and honestly that's a pretty common one that mods use.

Johnny Green Face I don't know, why don't they? I mean, it's not like they have a large fanbase that is demanding fixes to AI and mechanics over new content *sarcasm*. To reply seriously, it's simply a question of resource triage. Sure, they could use their time and development to do alternate history scenarios that would actively compete with some of the most well-loved mods out there... or they could fix the issues the game currently has and flesh out the countries that are available in the current scenario they do have. I would rather have a deep game with well thought-out mechanics and properly balanced gameplay than some half-assed, shallow alternate scenario that would stretch their resources.

I know some people are posting survival tips for the Civil war as the USA but in case anyone wanted to know another way to survive as the USA here is mine: 1. At the very start of the game take the Panama Canal Garrison back to the mainland. Also, take the 2 divisions Liberia has and the 3 divisions the Philippines has and bring them back as well. 2. I never relinquish control of the government to MacArthur because I like to keep Charles Curtis and Quentin Roosevelt in power. Also for some reason when I do this, Mexico almost never asks for its territory back. Plus a big bonus of this is you have more time to prepare and train divisions. 3. Once the war begins I focus 90% of my troops on the PSA first and capitulate them immediately as well as let Canada take over New England. The other 10% I evacuate to Iowa and Missouri to hold out and build forts against. 4. Build as many forts as you can against the CSA in the North because they are the stronger opponent. Defense is the main strategy in the North overall until the CSA is pushed back into the "Oven Mitt" part of Michigan, after which you can flood Michigan with your troops to destroy their lines. 5. Handling the AUS is a bit easier because the CSA is also fighting them so essentially just wait for the CSA to start beating them back and then be really aggressive against them. You'll know you're winning when you can start sneaking your troops to take ports and small towns all across the southern AUS territory. Definitely take Miami before taking Atlanta because it is a pain to try and take Miami once the AUS has set up shop there. 6. I also like to invade Mexico as soon as the war is over because usually Mexico doesn't join the Third Internationale often and you'll have veteran troops by then.

Connor recon don’t build forts just build military factories in and around Colorado. Second I recommend leaving the area between CSA and AUS,yes including Washington,then draw a fallback line in CSA/AUS it will take a lot of divisions to hold so it will be probably 80% of your army. Finally you move the rest of your troops to the PSA. However, They won’t be enough so you should defend the lines until you train more divisions. After the annexing PSA draw a frontline in CSA/AUS border and let operation cleaning home begin.

The American Government is probably my favorite nation in Kaiserreich because it has the potential for a very inspiring story of a nation of ideals coming back from the brink of defeat. Though I always choose Charles Curtis and then Quentin Roosevelt in order to continue that idea. I even am trying to make a story based on it, if I ever finish it. On that note, I am curious what you developer's attitudes are on fan-projects such as youtube videos and stories based in the Kaiserreich world? I love your mod very much (in fact I barely ever play original Hearts of Iron 4 anymore in favor of your mod) and think that it's ripe for creative stories to be told based in it. In any event, thanks for making this "lore" video as it's a nice introduction to the American portion of the Kaiserreich world.

Here’s some actual tips to survive the civil war as the USA: 1. Let go of Washington. Withdraw your divisions from there, as they WILL get encircled. 2. Do not try to push, only go on the offensive if the enemies have 0 to a few troops there via personal command. 4. White peace with California and the pacific states, they are a front you don’t have to fight on until later, after the union and CSA have capitulated. 5. Try to focus more on the unionists first, then the CSA, the unionists tend to be a lot weaker somehow then the CSA. 6. Encircle enemy troops as much as you can, if it’s worth doing/attempting. 7. Of course, like California and Mexico, let them have what they wish, that way you don’t have to go to war with them. (But sometimes with Mexico if you have more divisions than them, you can usually decline the referendum for whatever Mexico wants to get from you.)

Karver Durane that might be true but if they do go to war with you then you’re at risk of overstretching your military. It’s always better to stick to just fighting the CSA and AUS and then reclaiming any lost territory once the civil war is over.

well, it kinda makes sense that the syndies are as powerful as they are, seeing as they control basically all of America's industry. what doesn't make sense is the aus not being stronger. populist economics have always been popular in the midwest, and there should be pro-aus uprisings in western federal territory, similar to another st. louis scenario.

It really is an unimaginable money, time and skill sink to create an engine for a game, and to then create all the graphical elements etc. They would need the ability to work Full time, some good investores a lot of time and a bigger team to accopmlish such an behemothal Project

Martin Malina You seem to forget that for the team being able to work fulltime on the project, said Kickstarter Campaign would require to be able to feed the entire team through for around 3 - 5 years aswell as provide enough money for Marketing, licensing and then (mainly graphical) software. Such an astronomical sum can only be provided by multiple investores over an extensive course of time and not by some pocket money over Kickstarter. I actually believe that Kaiserreich will relatively soon step into other media, be it a show (prolly. Amazon or Netflix) a book series (Turtledove style) or a Movie (actually the most unlikely scenario) or maybe even a standalone game. It is just necessary for the right people to get interested in the Kaiserreich brand at the right time.
