Germans were working on the atomic bomb, Werner Heisenberg was their lead scientist, they thought that making something like atomic bomb was impossible, hence Heisenberg was not very enthusiastic about this project and kind of gave up

No, i guess we can never answer this question. There are too many possibilities. Also Einstein left the country and brought the US many inside infoormations. We will never know if Otto Hahn and Werner Heisenberg had their own reasons, if they couldnt wrap their head around it or if it never got finished due to other reasons.

Yes. 2 big obvious questions about world war 2. 1: why did little Germany attack humungous Russia? 2: why did Japan, an island attack Hawaii, which brought the USA into the conflict? Looking back it seems to make no sense.

Japan and Germany had no chance to get the bomb by 45 and when we committed the mega war crime of nuking two cities, specifically for collateral civilian damage, the war had already been decided and the move was an imperialist political one more than anything.

Japan wasn’t going to surrender. Ever wonder why it look two bombs for them to finally give up ? Wah wah wah “war crimes”

What ignorant BS. The war wasn't over or even close to being over. Japan spent a lot of effort, resources, and time fortifying the main island. They would have basically fought to the death. The Empereror was nearly overthrown by generals who wanted to continue the war. The estimated deaths of the invasion was in the millions. Worse for the Japanese. The military vowed to fight till the death for every last man. The nukes saved lives by making it apparent to everyone involved there was no situation in where Japan would win. Either surrender, and face punishment, or face eradication. Conventional bombing killed more than the nukes ever did by the way.
@cringlatorАй бұрын
@@dianapennepacker6854 I think we are both right in some ways, though of course my personal bias sees you falling for post hoc justifications ignoring the actual facts on the ground that Japan was materially defeated and the regime was close to cracking up, as well as just bringing up fluff that doesn’t add to the argument. It’s an ongoing dialogue that historians and laymen still hash out, calling it ignorant BS is just a cop out for you to not need to address it though. I ironically see the original clip as ignorant BS, since it’s removed from history so completely; what if Japan and Germany got the nuke in ‘45? Okay, what if the allies built a military based on the moon? Both just as unlikely.
@dianapennepacker6854Ай бұрын
@@cringlator Agreed on the video being crap. Did you see Japan's war plans for defending mainland Japan? They had 45 divisions left. Then they had 28 million in total support from all fighting age people that were volunteers? Sure not all were equipped, but they were making all the home made weapons to fit them out to be. They saved shells, 12,000 planes with half dedicated to kamikaze, 43 submarines, hundreds of mini submarines and thousands of naval kamikaze craft, and had 23 destroyers. Theu even had capital ships that were to be placed in spots for artillery and AA support since they didn't have fuel for them. They weren't even close to being beat. The military was in full propaganda mode saying, "Glorious death of 100 million" which meant the Japanese would fight till every last man, woman, and child defending the island. They knew they were beat too. Yet they refused unconditional surrender, and were hoping for some type of negotiation. The nukes changed that real quick, and in turn ended the war before mass civilian and military casualties from both sides happened. The Emperor, but more importantly the army who was trying to overthrow him realized they'd be obliterated without any glorious fight, and surrendered. Japan would hardly have a population today if the war went through. It stopped the fire bombings which again killed more. I just say it is ignorant; because I don't think you realize how ferocious and determined the Japanese were. They never had a successful invasion, and were determined to make it happen again. The irony is if we did go through with the invasion there would have been an other terrible hurricane that would have destroyed hundreds of landing ships. PS: The Soviets launching an assault on Japanese in Manchuria also swayed the surrender. Nukes saved lives overall. War is ugly, but showing we had nuclear bombs and would use them led to a quick surrender. The invasion would have been a complete slaughter for both sides like Okinawa was where Japanese civilians committed suicide in mass before surrendering.

I mean yeah. I'm Irish so my county was neutral. But the US and UK weren't too happy with being on the same side as the USSR, they ignored the USSR's attempts to establish collective security when H*tler came to power. Then when the Germans attacked the USSR the Americans and Brits held off on opening a second front, letting the USSR push their shared enemies back to Germany and only opening up a second front when they thought the Soviets were winning to much. They didn't see the USSR as an ally, just as a tool
