What I wish is that this game had an audio feature, that way you could maybe play audio of either Sam or Kate, to see if that gets a reaction. So we know Kate, Sam and Joanne were acquainted with one another so maybe Rebecca, Riley and Jordan were friends at one point, Amanda/Rebecca calls Riley out by name during the night time tape, so maybe she or at least the subconscious part of Rebecca's mind remembers Riley's name, but not that she's Kate's niece or that she was once a friend.

If you want a "Wild" Hypothesis from what I've seen of the story so far, Amanda etc are all souls pulled into the show, and their bodies are then occupied by demonic familiars which then live to "protect" the souls trapped in the tapes, hence why at the end of the 2nd chapter you finally see the "Wooly" familiar This is also why if you answer "Butcher" to Wooly you see the mouths/parts of sheep and not the faces/doctors/medical equipment you do with Amanda's recollection of the world, meaning Wooly could just be a sacrificed lamb

It’s honestly so funny that our main goal was to check out Kate’s office and then the first thing we do is head to the kids corner and start watching the tapes, which is the one thing that would get us to be in danger and also why in the ending why do we bring one of the tapes with us when we know that the monster is drawn to the tapes. I mean that’s just stupid.

Because Hameln *wants* all the tapes to be destroyed. Joanne literally says this in the end, that she realized they were being used as pawns by Hameln to destroy as many of the tapes as possible. Just doing what the evil child-stealing organization wants would be the stupid decision. This is why they make sure to have Riley save at least one tape, cus as long as there’s tapes around, Hameln doesn’t get their way.
