This game reminds me of my Popi. He had alzheimers disease and he would barely remember me. One day I went to go see him and I was having a good conversation with him and we were talking about my dads childhood. Popi looked at me and he said "I may not remember you here," he said while pointing to his head "but I will always remember you here" he said again pointing to this heart. That was the last thing he ever said to me, Popi. If only you knew how much I miss you and how much those words mean to me

This made me cry. It reminded me of when my great grandmother was dying, she slowly forgot about us, all her family, and when the time came for her to pass away... i stood beside her, tears all over my face, and i will never forget that she actually knew i was me beside her... that made me bawl, and i hold her hand until she finally said "los amo" (i love you all) and... i had to watch her die... ill never forget that moment Edit: I thank those who told me their story in this reply section, and i'll go every one of them in my free time. Wish every one of you the best, even if i dont know you. Im upset to see the fighting here, but theres nothing i can do but hope for peace.

I couldn't agree more. I honestly wish I had. I'm 30 years old and have been disabled for 8 years. I've been ON disability, receiving benefits for 5 and a half years. A couple months ago I got a chair for the shower, and a smiliar... "Bathroom aide" sadly, my health has deteriorated to the point that I need constant help and supervision. I can no longer live on my own... My mother was hired by ResCare Home Care, to be my in home caretaker. I struggle to do anything.. And I'm only 30.... No kids, no relationship... God bless any other disabled samurai or elderly whom suffer in similar ways.. I would've done things differently had I known I wouldn't have the time I thought I did... I myself don't have Alzheimer's, but my grandma did.. from my point of view, this is probably very accurate. It started slow with my grandma doing silly things like hiding our shoes in a tree, but it started getting noticeable by the time I was 12. She was a women's rights activist waaaayyyy back, she ran for governor of her town, she was a good journalist, she was a loyal and great wife for my grandma when he served in WW2, and she was always the liberal other half to my grandpa's strong conservative political stances. But my grandparents were so great together, man. We went on family vacations every year with them. And even when my grandma started forgetting her grandkids' names... Then her kids' names... Then her husband's name... Then her own name... My grandpa was always the best spouse he could be for her, and he made sure she had a good life even after she couldn't speak English and couldn't control her bodily waste functions. Alzheimer's is a terrifying disease because it just tears away your past from you, then your present, then your future. But I'm glad my grandma had a hell of a good spouse to go through it.

She usually says "You're a brat. Can't do anything right." She even tried to hurt herself, thinking she was ugly. However, I know that when she dies, she won't be in pain. I hope you realize, that even though your mother might not remember you, you still have those beautiful memories of before this period of time. She won't always be there for you, but she's your mother. She would want you to be happy. I might not know her, but thats just how maternal instincts are. I’ve done some research on Alzheimer’s and from what I’ve seen, in one blink, you could miss a full day and not even be conscious of everything your doing. It truly is sad, and worse, you can’t cure Alzheimer’s, it cures it self, In most cases, after it’s too late. Shout out to the team that made this game, and Cory for looking at this with a serious outlook.

She used to bake stuff for my dad and I all the time..the last time I saw her it had gotten pretty bad but some things still remained. She didn't remember my name or anything about me specifically, but she knew that my dad and I were important to her somehow..it was tough to see her like that. I think she's since passed away but. She also has been going through chemo for a while now and she needs help doing absolutely everything. Going to her house now is gut wrenching for me, she always just sits and stares at this motion picture frame we got her for her birthday all day long. One time she even texted me and told me "send some pics framed!" and sent a picture of the motion picture frame. I told her I would and she said "soon?" boy I BAWLLLLEEDDD like a baby bro I can't even imagine how lonely she is most days.

I’m watching this now in 2024 and I’m finally able to understand what my Nana is going through. This play through genuinely brought me to tears as I was one of the family members who watched my Nana go through the early stages of dementia. I was too young to understand what was happening and why Nana couldn’t remember my name, that was up until she had to be put in a nursing home, now she doesn’t recognise anyone, even my mom who is her daughter. It genuinely breaks my heart every time we visit her and see how confused she is. I hope anyone else who feels this way can relate, your not alone. 💜

This made me cry 😭 Alzheimer’s and Cancer are the craziest things to see someone go through and even scarier to think that it could happen to me one day. Ima go hug my mother now while I still have her. I hope I live long enough to meet my grandchildren. I think seeing your children have children of their own is the end goal. I’m glad I was able to give my mother a grandchild. It really does bring a sense of purpose to see the generations you played a direct role in. I know if my mom gets sick like this she will be well cared for and surrounded by family that loves her. I hope I live long enough to see that and stay healthy enough to remember the people I love. My brothers, my sister, my children and my friends. Getting old sucks but that’s why you surround yourself with love so that you don’t have to go through the scary parts alone 💔 fml this hit deep

When I was 3 I used to have a grandpa who I loved hanging out with. We always were laughing and having fun, but he was getting old and of course every body passes away, but in a young age, it was difficult for me to feel sympathy for someone I can't remember. My parents always tell me that he was like a best friend to me, but I forgot. The only thing I have left of him is a picture of him. I just wanted to say that, it was difficult for me to figure out who he was and what he was to me, it's hard to realize that the person that makes who you are today, is a person that you thought never existed. Well, for my point of view.

i have a good memory, but i know the pain of being forgotten by someone that you love. See, a couple years back my girlfriend hit her head pretty bad without me even knowing. it was only later i found out that she had forgotten everything about us. it tore me up. the biggest problem was that shortly after she started dating someone else because she forgot that we were together. i honestly thought i had hit rock bottom. to be honest i still do. i had loved her with all my heart and it felt unfair that my happiness got taken away because of memory loss. now, i only want the best for her so i don't try to upset her with it, but i can only imagine that pushing it will only upset her because i'm sure being the one who forgets also hurts a lot.

The way Cory was explaining this and how its changing is kind of heartbreaking to listen to and it makes me feel so bad for older people

Man, I wish I could have Cory as a family member. He would be a great grandfather, dad, brother, and even uncle. I'm sure your family is really grateful for you. You will probably not see this, I'm not sure you even read your uh, comments. But I love you Cory. You're like my bff❤️
