I suspect that in Mar's low gravity humans would be tall. Axial bones may be thinner but more flexible rather than more brittle. Lung capacity would increase to allow oxygen to be at lower levels, but the Martian atmosphere would need to be thicker with a PaO₂ similar to that of Earth, using a high oxygen percentage in a low atmospheric pressure. Mar's atmosphere could be improved by the release of gases from the martian rock & subsurface materials. This would be a gigantic undertaking. Obtaining oxygen from the soil might only be practical for maintaining habitat oxygen stores. Melanin on Earth protects us from ultraviolet light, not the radiation one normally thinks of: alpha particles, electrons, x-rays, etc. This may be sufficient for the same protection on Mars. The biggest challenge would be from not having the Earth's magnetosphere to protect us from the more traditional radiation.

@@will2brown50 Nice speech. See, problem is the cost of a serious space program is such that only the wealthiest world governments can undertake it. And those world governments? Those care about politics/economics first and scientific progress later, much later. Proof is simply that the last time humans set foot on the moon was 5 decades ago and the only space station in place is falling apart due to lack of maintenance. But money/time is always found for developing autonomous killing drones, high altitude bombers and a myriad of more effective methods of killing other humans. So sorry, it's not a matter of human ingenuity or drive that will stop us, it will be the greed and short sightedness of the people actually in charge. How come you'd more likely to have broken bones if any impact you'd have from falling is .3x less impact. Gravity affects both ways, not only bone mass, but also impact damage.

If we have racism here on Earth with all the humans being from the same planet, imagine the racism against humans from a different planet.

Realistically mars would be a far more intelligent and ordered society than earth, as only the best of humanity would be sent to colonise. Hard to be racist to Martians when they have technology superior to our own 😬
@pemdemica17122 жыл бұрын
@@arkarmiller70 What, racism? It's a word that means discrimination or prejudice against another race, in this case, against Martian humans. Does it offend you? Trigger you? The sad truth is racism against foreign humans have always been a dark reality, and worst case scenario, it happens with extraterrestrial humans. Hope that won't happen though.

@Jven-pn4vb3 жыл бұрын
I wonder, would laser eye surgery to correct the near sightedness be an efficient way to correct such an issue? Would it be the same as if you had it on Earth, but instead had it on Mars? What if you somehow miraculously broke a bone? How long will it take to heal? Will it even heal AT ALL? Idk, too many questions guys... I'm not discouraging anyone from visiting Mars, I'm just saying, be careful, eh?

"Mars is the most Earth-like planet in the solar system" - Wrong. That would be Venus. As a planet, Venus is more Earth-like. Temperature and pressure of the atmosphere - different story.

I had the impression that the video presented the theory that the environment on mars would determine the mutations that would occur, when in fact the environment would only select the random mutations that are going to occur, those that generate a greater capacity to survive and reproduce.
