Protestant response: Are you kidding me? Many Protestants in the world use the sign of the cross (ie Anglicans and Lutherans for example). Have you not heard of the Anglican Book of Common Prayer? The Book of Common Prayer in addition to containing hundreds of beautiful prayers for individuals and families covers the administration of the Sacraments and other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church. The Lutheran Book of Worship Contains 569 hymns including 21 canticles, three musical settings for Holy Communion plus an outline for a Chorale Service, Service of the Word, Propers, etc. The Reformed tradition’s Book of Common Order for use by ministers and others leading worship, contains various prayers as well as orders for baptism, communion, funerals, weddings, etc. Classical Protestantism is not unfamiliar with sacramentals. They are not wondering around wringing their hands over sacramentals.

Yea, they're just walking around wringing their hands over the question of authority that they can't answer

@@margaretstewart5538Oh no what do we have here? Yep that’s right folks. It’s another Catholic Answers mind numbed robot spewing out yet more anti-Protestant propaganda. You really need to get better informed my friend. Protestants don’t need to respond to ridiculous assertions based on a faulty premise. Please stop embarrassing yourself. Blessings!

God Bless brother-in-Christ! You're right - If the "high Anglican Church" uses sacramentals because of maintaining its Catholic roots, they would know what sacramentals are. Sacramentals are different than sacraments. Personally, I don't know many protestants who know what sacramental vs sacraments are (only a few anglicans). You might run in different circles, and have different experiences. This episode, makes protestant generalizations because high anglican / high Lutheran church is an extremely small percentage of the world population of christians.

@@miracles_metanoia I would argue that generalizations are being made about contemporary American Evangelicalism which in my opinion and many others is not truly Protestant. Christian - yes, Protestant - no. The problem with some of my Roman Catholic friends is that they define as Protestant anyone who isn’t Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox. The problem with some converts to Roman Catholicism is that if they are coming out of a non-denom Evangelical background (which many are), they know precious little about church history in general and Protestantism in particular yet they purport to know. Many of these folks also think incorrectly that Protestant simply means not Roman Catholic. I’ve seen Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses listed as Protestant. Protestant means much more than simply not Roman Catholic. A point lost on many Evangelicals as well so I am not picking on Roman Catholics. Actually classical Protestantism (Anglican Lutheran and Reformed) has little in common with non-denom contemporary Evangelicalism. Classical Protestantism is rooted in the Reformation and the church Catholic. Evangelicalism is a relatively new Christian movement based in 18th century America. The combined total of Lutherans, Anglicans and Reformed Christians in the world is approximately 300 million. That exceeds the number of Eastern Orthodox. So calling them a tiny minority is a bit of a stretch. As far as Protestants not knowing about sacramentals, I am fairly certain that there are Roman Catholics who know little about sacramentals. My point was not so much about how many know as much as it is that classical Protestantism is a liturgical tradition where sacramentals would not be looked at as something totally alien and foreign to their experience. A non-denominational setting would be different because of their low view of ecclesiology. Cheers brother! BTW there are approximately 600 million evangelical/Pentecostals in the world so in terms of sheer numbers they exceed classical Protestantism.

@@paulsmallwood1484 I'm a convert from Methodism who dabbled in the Church of Ireland too... So not a non denom convert like you say. Lutheran, high Anglican, Reformed etc etc.. call it what you want they are still protestant.
