Raja Ram mohan roy,s after lot of struggle this bad practice was abolished. Hindustan always have been woman first . Shiv skati . Siya ram for eg .i hope you got your answer.

My great great maternal grandmother was 120yrs old . unfortunately she went to Vaikunth 2yrs ago. She was born around time Raja ram mohan , she waa religious also ilitrate . She didn't do any sati . Sati was never a norm . In atharvved , it says a widow should be away from her husband's dead body & her in laws should re marry her. Look at paintings of Raja ram mohan , every painting has bible in it. About girls education, do u know according mackauley's 1809 survey in hindu gurukuls, women participation was higher than men.
