It really isn't that hard, I've shot against veterans of 15/20 years in this sport and there's close to no difference other than their knowledge of the sport. This is especially true in the prone possession where there is no wind. It's as easy as pulling the trigger.

the problem is, that those rifles with their setups present an unrealistic and impractical setup. In the real world this just isn't a gun anybody could use for self defense or hunting, these rifles here are heavy (to quick aim steadier) and the special suits are also not really found outside of this specific sport. Also those diopter sights are often really sensite too, so even dropping the rifle once can cause the sights to fail
@roteroktober3605 жыл бұрын
@Blaze Is Hyped i know but that just makes them overpriced sporting devices and most of the techniques and training with those barely translates to actually practical accuracy

Beginner question. When I hold my left elbow against my side in standing posture and relax my muscles, the elbow tends the slip to the left and not remain in a position where the left hand is able to support the rifle. I have to tense the muscles in my left shoulder to keep the elbow in position, and this is not good for accuracy. How do I fix this?
@kaedenmurphy99374 жыл бұрын
I’m not entirely sure. For me, it’s just about finding the right spot on my hip. It takes a few tries for some people I know.
@labmanatlarge3 жыл бұрын
Check how you are leaning. The lean of your hips should allow you to maintain your position.

Change your foot position. Find a spot for your elbow that doesn't slip, then move your feet until your offhand aligns with the target.
@youknoweverything76432 жыл бұрын
For everyone that is wondering this is extremely hard sport. It's rough on your arms when standing for 10m and 50m abd 3 position. The gun weighs about 8 lbs and holding it fir 40shots in a unnatural stance you can get a injury to muscles and back cyse it's awkward. Just on 10m the size of the target you have to hit is the exact same size as the.177 aur rifle pellet it's very small. To ppl who don't know .177 pellet is the same size pellet you used as a kid in your pellet riffle it's about the size of a pea really slightly smaller and they hit that same spot ecerytime is why they have this piece of black paper with microphone sensors that records where the pellet hit on the target to show it on the monitor screen with out that they would be able to score it cuse your hitting the same hole or slight edge of it abd human eye can't score it exactly like a computer can.
How is the official Olympics channel spreading such dumb misinformation? 50m is not an air rifle event, it's a rimfire smallbore event using rimfire 22LR caliber ammunition.

Do you actually shoot at the Pinkie-Nail center, or just try to center the black in your front aperture?
@bl4cky895 жыл бұрын
The black center circle has no markings, since the hit is electrically measured. Else you'd have to change the paper target after almost every shot. Yet it still wouldn't be accurate enough with paper on that skill level. So you basically try to center the whole black dot in your diopter for aiming. Takes quite a good eye and obviously the ability to not move at all while shooting. Even the slightest movement is enough to get you off center. But basically... every shooter who tried to go for precision with large caliber with a scope knows that. But I have to admit - i started out with large caliber. My first rifle I ever shot was a Kar98k. But I've worked the ladder downward from there and also find great joy in shooting rimfire - just started with air rifle now too. Whenever I got the urge to feel something in my shoulder, I pack out the big boys. But the insane precision with competition guns both 22lr and air rifle also fascinates me.
@johnstewart88495 жыл бұрын
bl4cky89 Thanks...I now try to think of making a “TARGET STORES logo” out of the sight picture...works for me! What do you set your trigger pull to?
@bl4cky895 жыл бұрын
@@johnstewart8849 At the moment I prefer a "heavier" triggerpull. It's set around 110 to 120 grams (approx. 0,26 lbs). During my last exhale on which my target comes into sight I already got my trigger pulled all the way up to the pressure point. I tried super light trigger pulls down to 60-70 grams, but that's just not my thing. Can't feel the pressure point and to me that feels like having no control. I also get quite some accidential discharges with a pull that lightweight. Just sets off and boom... 4 or 5 rings. That's what I mean with no control. But maybe it's down to more practise to manage lighter triger pull weights.

@thomasmuller76085 жыл бұрын
only single shot rifles are allowed
@cvabuck54893 жыл бұрын
In addition to the rules, chambering from a magazine can scratch or detent the round as it leaves the magazine and enters the chamber. Likewise entering the chamber at an angle can change the seating of the round in the cartridge. At match grade precisions, any of these can be the difference between a ten and a two. Using a single shot bolt action with smooth feed ensures this doesn't happen.

No, but you have a great start. High power shooting skills transfer to smallbore pretty well. If you're interested in competing in smallbore, look into some local NRA based open competitions and talk to some people there about getting started. The rules in NRA smallbore are pretty lax so you can get away with pretty simple equipment, and you should be able to use your highpower jacket as well.

Technically, a meter is 1/300,000 the distance traveled by light in one second... but I'm guessing that probably is not what you were asking for. So here are some helpful rules of thumb: A meter is about forty inches. Ten yards is nine meters. 1600 meters is almost exactly a mile. So, 50 meters is about 165 feet.
