FIFA 07 had the best soundtrack imo. “Supermassive Black Hole” by Muse, “Nothing In My Way” by Keane, and “Tive Razão” by the legendary samba musician Seu Jorge. The lesser known bands on the soundtrack were all really solid for the most part, in particular bangers like “Oh My” by Mellowdrone and “Chloroform” by Belasco, and never forget the ridiculous “Tei! Tei! Tei!” by Polysics.

I've been looking through a lot of my playlists recently and scouring for songs that I feel would belong on FIFA, even though they're not on it. I've picked up a few other points to add to this. -The intro has to grab you from the start. Keep in mind this is mainly for the disco/indie side of FIFA, and not the rap side. A catchy little drum beat, or the post-chorus hook, played at the start of the song, is done all of the time. It grabs you at the start, but not by the scruff of the neck as opening with the chorus does, it just leads in you in by your arm. For example, to show off a song that I think fits the genre well, Lagoon by Flavoured Nation and it's clicks are instantly iconic and you'd know what song you're listening to the moment you hear it. -A consistent tempo is really required, the danceability of the song really matters, something you can jam and sing along to easily, without being thrown off by some wacky rhythm. For example, Not Holding Back by Ivory Rasmus has this really nicely. -It has to give you a memory. I don't know about you lot, but whenever I hear a FIFA song, even on the ones I haven't played, I can almost feel the vibe of sitting in the summer air, solving some SBC's, getting ready for a kickabout with the bois. I can hear that, coming from the song. I associate FIFA with it. As my example, Gold by James Marriott does this extremely well, I can pretty much smell summer just by listening to it (which sounds kind of weird when I say it out loud.) -And finally, it has to bring something new to the table. It can be fairly formulaic, but it needs something unique or some secret sauce that really hits it well. I'd reckon Welcome To My Planet by Pomplamoose does this really well, the guitar lick being completely unique to the song.

Oh my god I've been following you for months and I just found this video. I have such incredible memories of playing FIFA 15 with my highschool bestfriend. Thanks to this video game, I have been able to discover bands and artists that I still listen to today, such as catfish and the bottlemen, two door cinema club, foals, kasabian, among others, besides the fact that the artists I admire appear in the soundtrack excites me a lot. I'm following FIFA games since 2004, haven't played all of them, but I was always excited for upcoming game in FIFA series because of the soundtrack. It's almost like a ritual to me, to wait for the realise of full song list and listen to it to find hidden gems. I've been doing it for years, that I myself started saying "Oh this would be a great FIFA song" especially for some indie pop/rock/electro songa that I listen, and started making my own FIFA songs playlists. For example when I heard song "Hot Head Chippenham" by Bad Sounds imidiately I had a feeling like it belongs in the FIFA game. Great video.

However, when I looked for Something For Your M.I.ND. on Deezer and the FIFA 18 playlist popped up, it got me curious. After seeing some artists I really like in the playlist, I decided to give it a try. FIFA 18's soundtrack is amazing, I couldn't believe it, even shared it with my friends to make sure that I wasn't becoming crazy. This playlist has been in my favorites ever since, I didn't know all FIFA's soundtracks were of such a high quality, I thought this year's one was an exception or something. This is a great video. I've always thought about this and thought that the choice of music in FIFA games is amazing and perfectly fitting. It's something many people don't seem to notice or even acknowledge but FIFA delievers every year. And yeah, maybe it's not the same as producing and creating an orchestral instrumental soundtrack for an emotional RPG or story driven game. But it's still pretty difficult to nail it every damn time.

FIFA 06-13 basically shaped my taste for music without me even realizing it. When people used to ask me what kind of music I preferred, I would tell them basically what’s on a fifa game. 1) true I love the upbeat songs, the only less upbeat fifa songs I preferred were ‘way down we go’ by Kaleo and ‘let me go’ by no wyld as these songs gave me goosebumps 2) I always love the foreign songs, Am Ende, and Soy yo are particular exclusions which I like 3) I swear every year I find a new band I like through FIFA. Super organism, two door cinema club, Kaleo, Vance joy. The list goes on.

i found out i heard one of my favourite artists on fifa before getting into him (isombard - declan mckenna on fifa 17) and now one of my favourite more underrated artists has a song on the fifa 2021 soundtrack (wish i was younger - alfie templeman). its so cool to see fifa shine a spotlight on these more indie artists that I really enjoy. edit: I was halfway through the video and then realised you mentioned declan closer to the end. hes such a great artist I love his music.
