This video has brought me TONNES of relief! I've had health anxiety as well as GAD for a long time now and it's been horrendous for the last few weeks! One of my biggest fears has always been heart health and I always worried that my resting rate (just below 60bpm) was too slow, despite having an "all clear" ECG and blood test only a few days ago. So yeah, thanks a lot for a massive weight off my shoulders, and an overall very informative video 😊

Hell yes! This kind of analysis is so very important! In the same way, many people who fall outside of the "typical" or "normal," (like people of dwarf stature) are literally left out of most studies and are literally off the resultant charts. Do labs' standard ranges apply? How could they? What are the consequences where they do not? Clinicians have no time or inclination to worry about or allow for this. Specialists are not interested. Those patients fall between the cracks uncared for and dismissed.

I think for the vast majority of clinicians it's not a lack of inclination but rather a combination of no time and a general unawareness of how the concept of a "normal range" applies to large heterogeneous populations of people, not necessarily to the one specific individual in front of them at that moment. The new format is easy to follow and the higher quality is attractive. Your content is always interesting. The music, however, is quite distracting when concentrating. If you must have background music, maybe you could play it at a lower volume or even have an option to turn the music off.

Fitness makes a difference to the heart rate , when i was running 70 miles a week and training for a marathon my resting pulse was only 38 .

@@hannahelian see your Doctor and have him do a cardiogram to check your heart rhythm. If you're slim, young and healthy, it may be that a heart rate of 42 is normal for you.

Jeah that's true. I been working out 3 to 5 times a week by jogging. So a resting heart rate is normal between 30 to 40 bpm. For Some triathletes, or extremely fit people who working out a lot, that's also normal. But it's important how You feel about it and yourself. When you feel dizzy or not good at all, you should check it by doctors.

Very good point. Thank you Dr Strong. Honestly I did not know all the evidence presented even if I have a good understanding of cardiology. To keep the heart rate low .. exercised regularly.. this is one of the best kept secret by cardiologists..

Trust me low heart rate is better than higher heart rate..dude trust me i had nights with 120 heart rate and i was unable to sleep plus 100 110 and palpitation which i reached 150 heart rate is horrible

Now i am on diet from a long time already i gave up to everything i said goodbye to coffe to all..and i feel 95% better..i have very rare a strange chest feeling like an emotion..very light palpitations and thats it in rest i m ok thanks to god...but what i lived before was hell on earth man..my life were a hell i entered in a depression.....plus panic attacks white nights with 90 100 and 100+ heart rate when i tried to sleep with no success of course...

I have anxiety issues, hypothyroidism, low vitamin D levels and I am on statin medication for high cholesterol! I always look at my heart rate and my anxiety kicks in when I see my heart rate linger at low 50s or feel pins and needles in my chest..I keep waking up every hour to check my heart rate! Every time I take a deep breath my heart rate goes down! I am 35 years old and moderately active person. Anxiety can be terrible but the best way to manage it is to make lifestyle changes. Easier said than done. I walk a lot now, play outdoor sport, eat healthy and still working on my sleep!

I walk between 90-110 miles a week with my dog & work out on my heavy bag 4 times a week 20 minutes each time.I am 51 years old & have a resting heart rate of 48-54 beats a minute.My doctor say's my heart beat is extremely strong & healthy & the reason i have a slow heart rate is because of all the exercise i do & to keep it up.

I am 57 and my resting heart rate goes down to 30. Some years ago I was at the hospital for surgery and they asked me if I was related to Bjoern Borg and I asked why and they told me that my heart rate was 30 and I looked up on a screen which showed 30. They decided to give me something to raise my pulse so that they could sleep me down for the surgery. I do a little exercise every week swimming, running, riding my bike or yoga. I think that mostly it is genetic as my farther always have had a low resting pulse too. My farther got a pacemaker when he got older due to his low heart rate. My biggest problem is long meetings. Sitting still for a longer time my body shuts down. I now understand why.

Hi, Eric! The new format seems to be on the whole more dynamic and energetic, which is definitely a plus. Although it does make me feel slightly wary, as I hope this change will not affect the depth and complexity of the information presented in your videos in the direction of oversimplifying. +Ryderere Don't worry. The new format is not replacing the old. Moving forward, my immediate goal is to average 4 videos/month: 3 in the prior style (a little longer, more in depth, and often part of a series) and 1 in the new style (shorter, more energetic, and covering topics that fall just outside what is usually discussed in med/nursing schools and residencies). As I mentioned in the update video from a couple of days ago, I'm working on recruiting some additional educators locally, and if that's successful, we may be able to diversify the content even further.

+Hersch S I'm already using Adobe CS for our videos. I use Premeire as the video editor and for animations. For simple artwork, I do it quickly in PowerPoint and export the slide as a png file; for moderately complex stuff, I use Fireworks; and for anything I can't figure out how to do in Fireworks, I use Illustrator. (Illustrator is obviously the most powerful of those, but I don't know it well enough to use quickly for simple things). Animation artists will require a budget. Since I made a decision at the beginning to not monetize the channel (i.e. have advertisements), there is currently no money for things like that, but I may be revisiting that decision soon. (i.e. advertisements on the videos are a little annoying for viewers, but they will produce revenue which will help to improve subsequent video quality...)

I love this. I also love the likelihood he was picked on in school but is now gettin' PAID. lol...good for you, Doc! Mad props...and thanks for the info! I've been full-on vegetarian for nearly 2 months now and all my numbers are in very healthy range. Specifically, my RHR normally reads around 66-70 and I just turned 50. lol...life is good!

My resting rate is usually in the 50's and has been for years. I know others like this. It got the doctor doing my colonoscopy all excited because lying down on a gurney with a partial anaesthetic it went lower than he was used to!! He even had my heart checked subsequent to the colonoscopy but my own physician ignored it as unimportant. Isn't a low heart rate a sign of an efficient heart?

Hi Strong Medicine, Very informative video and explained well. I want to ask a question, my heart rate goes upto 130 when I am walking fast , or coughing, or eating, I know it's on the higher side, but exercising heart-rate max limit is 220 I believe. Any way, when I am resting, it goes lower 90-85 , and sometime it goes lower to 71. I am 30 years old, and I have gastric issues, which gives me panic attacks. My weight is 112 kg. I need advice , how to lower my heart rate naturally. I hardly go for exercise and when I do, my heart beats faster, I know its because of my body weight. Thanks.

Recently got an apple watch and started to follow more my heart and health. Im 26 and my resting beat is 51 which looks good, I played professional Badminton for 15 years and weight lifting 4times a week for last 2 years. Interested to know and find out more about this all

I really love your videos! My resting heart rate is 52-54 and while sleeping is 45-46. I was tested by 4 different cardiologists and I did many blood tests, ECG, echocardiography of the heart and of the carotid, x-ray, and 24-hour Holter...all with good results. My blood pressure is about 140/80. When I am at the office on the chair my heart rate is 52-60. If I walk on the street, my heart rate is about 80-90 beats per minute. if I walk fast my heart rate can go to 120 beats per minute. I do not have diabetes but I have sleep problems, generalized anxiety syndrome and I am overweight. I eat well, as naturally as possible, with no sugar, and no junk food, I quit smoking 10 years ago and I do not drink more than a beer/per day. I also have severe vitamin D deficiency (Magnesium and Potassium are fine) and I take 4000 UI per day. Lack of sun is the problem. For me, it is very hard to lose weight even after 6 months of intermittent fasting and keto. Because of STRESS. This is my main issue. My battle. I follow your videos because you are making me feel more energetic and reassured. Reading on the internet can be misleading and stressful. This is why I find your information much more reliable and I can relate to many of the subjects in your videos. God bless!

I'm 5'9, 163 pounds and I go between 74-105 resting. I'm in very good shape, but can almost sense that my heart is going overtime. Working on getting it down to 60ish

My normal heart rate is between 85 and 95, but I want to ask you if anxiety can boost it, because sometimes i feel anxious and my resting heart rate jumps up to 110, and i have a need to measure it all the time.. My doctor did an ecg and an ultrasound of my heart, and an xray, but said everything is fine. I think i probably just need some cardio exercises because i didn't do any since this summer

Great video. I have a RHR of 39 bpm. However as my blood pressure is "normal" I've been told that it's nothing to worry about. I will get further tests as I'm 41 years old, however this video has given me some relief as you've confirmed with the doctors that it may be my natural pulse.

@@suvrajyoti18 Yes, RHR was tested after kidney stone removal. During the the test I was heavily sedated with pain killers and in bed pretty much the entire, sleeping over many hours during the RHR test. New tests revealed - After sleep with no medication - 60bpm. During daily activities - 72bpm. After exercise - 92bpm. Thank you for picking up on this as the results were skewed due to my situation. Turns out my RHR was between 60 - 100bpm - not 39.

After doing HIIT, cycling, swimming, and weightlifting for about 12 years, my resting heart rate went from 72 to 52. In the evening when relaxed, it can go as low as 44. Blood pressure is fine and I don't ever feel dizzy, so Doctors say it's OK. I use a heart rate monitor often and the recovery rate from sprints is fast. So, a heart attack can always happen, but it's less likely.

31 years old, avg 46-50 sitting and around 38 or less while sleeping. 97kg (214lbs)175cm(5,9) Edit: also hit 90-95% max heart rate while hill climbing. Runs etc.

So I was always an athlete and a runner in the US Army and I lost 20 pounds I’m 6feet and 170 pounds. My sitting HR60 my sleeping HR45-52 now. I haven’t worked out in over a year but I do walk a lot and lost 20 pounds. I was scared to death to see how low my heart rate was. I’m still scared lol even though they have ruled out heart problems.

Im 26 Years Old , im suffered with hyperthyroidsm , currently consuming Carbimazole 10mg and Propanolol 10mg per day , my resting heart rate lower than 60 , sometimes 53-59. Im not active person but healthy eating for about 2 months , i cut 80% Salt on my food , is this normal ?

As a smoker, I was 136/80 at 80 BPM resting. Replaced smoking with ecigs and exercise; now it's 110/65 @55BPM. I still remember how tense my chest used to feel. Glad that's over 😁

Non smoker, 12 yrs old here, with no family histories of heart problems, just asthma and PND. My resting is 80-92 BPM but when i have cough it goes up to 96-102, with anxiety it goes up to 102-112. Is this normal? I dont do exercise at all and i normally eat healthy foods.

That is great!! I was overweight (still am but working on it) but I am 5'10" and was 230 lbs. My RHR was at 70 bpm. I changed my diet to be VERY clean and healthy, started doing simple cardio, intermittent fasting, and sleep better, and I am now at 202 lbs and have a RHR of around 58-60. It has only been 1 1/2 months. :)

My RHR is about 55 i used to do hard excersises 5 days a week but i stopped 1 year ago, im able to run 3 kilometers without stopping but im not physically fit any more. Im 31 and i dont know what should I think about it

If you walk is normal to have that heart rate..my heart rate when i walk is between 100 and 150 bpm..i have even 140 when i fast walk and 130 -110 when slow walk

I have couple of points to mention: a) If we are not sure of normal HR how do you decide on holding parameters for drugs effecting HR? especially in acute care settings. b) The study you mention where the hazard ratio goes up with HR especially over 80bpm, why we start or titrate up treatments for hypertensive patients with rate control when their HR goes over 100bpm. As a pharmacist I usually recommend titrating up dose at high 80's to over 90's keeping BP in mind. What do you think?

if you are worrying that someday you will die at the younger age. i recommend that don't trust some of that app. maybe you should go for some check ups.

192 its not bad, when its under 200 its normal. i have health anxiety aswell. women usually have a higher resting heart rate than men. and since you are not adult 90-110bpm sounds fine.

Don't worry too much because that will affect you. I was diagnosed with hbp and had bad anxiety when I was 16 I thought I was going to die but that hasn't happened I'm 23 now, just take care of yourself and you'll live longer.

Coach, I am looking for a answer in the "Metabolic Field". Usualy when I brisk walk, or ride a bike, my average hear rate be around 90BPM, always. But, if I take Cafeine + Ephedrine or Cafeinne + Yohimbine the BPM increase for about: 100BPM. Also, if I use cannabis, the Heart Rate during moving increase 10 up to 20%. My resting BPM is about 45/50. I am 37 years, good aerobic conditioning, light weight 1,78 with 65kg. The increase in Heart Rate, also increase Calorie Expenditure? I track by Polar H10 and FitBit. Mike - I'm so sorry. If you can believe it, I'm just seeing this question now! It's not that the normal heart rate should be just below the cutoff for SIRS, but rather that it makes no sense for the normal heart rate range to have an upper bound that is above the lower bound for SIRS. So the precise analogy with PaCO2 would be that it would be illogical for the normal range of PaCO2 to dip below 32 (the upper bound for SIRS), but it doesn't necessarily need to extend down to 32.

Puppy 98 its fine for your heart rate to climb during strenuous exercise. That's the entire point of cardiovascular exercise. To train your body to handle more movement easier (lighter breathing, slower heart rate etc.) i would worry about it.

+Dominique Pordeus Thanks for the feedback. I went back and forth about the music. One reason I went with its inclusion was that it helps to cover up a mild but annoying echo from the recording space that could otherwise not be reduced in post-production. And it was made even trickier by the fact that the subjective ratio of the speech vs. background music volume is not consistent between Adobe Premiere, the compiled video file, and what ends up on KZbin (which of course, doesn't make sense that this should happen, but it does). Let me see if there are other comments about the music, and consider all of them with the next video.
