(In case other people didnt know.) You can really help out your pet parrot with the pin feathers it can't reach, especially the back of their head and their face. If the pin feathers stay too long and become stuck, it can cause the poor birdie lots of discomfort and can even cause feather loss! If you have 2 or more parrots at home (and they get along 😅), then they will help each other out when it comes to releasing pin feathers. Also! If you want less keratin dust in your house, give your parrot a good misting in the shower it makes it way less dusty, and plus, most parrots LOVE a good wash 😂❤

Not to mention whenever they dry up and the feather is fully out, it can actually be kinda itchy to the parrot which is why they are always preening themselves. And sometimes there are parts they cannot reach which is why they help preen one another. And if you have a good relationship with your parrot, they actually will greatly appreciate you helping them reach the parts they can’t get as it is also a type of friendship building moment

Nope. I have a skin picking problem, and I have a parrot. I've kept parrots for years and I love getting the new feathers. The problem is your bird doesn't want or tolerate the amount of preening from you that will satisfy your need to stim. I constantly have bite wounds in various stages of healing all over my hands because it is so hard to stop when the bird says stop.

I second this! Of course, people shouldn't get a bird as a primary solution and everything. But if you already have one, this is absolutely helpful. My birds loved that I would preen them as soon as they asked, because they are a little dumdum and don't understand preening each other. And for me, it hit just the right spot and kept the skin picking down (in addition to my other tools obviously)
